Copy editing

Hello Maximilian,

I happened to notice your appeal regarding the edit by the IP below, so had a look at the article. Although I live in the UK, I took the liberty to knock this addition into shape and in line with Wikipedia style. I have been careful not to remove too much copy, although I believe it is still too lengthy. I read that the editor is elderly and is known to you.

You are welcome. Several counties in Wisconsin like Portage County, Wisconsin have histories that are online. I am not sure about Iowa County. The histories are probably there but may not be on line. I reverted the good faith edit of Chip123456 with the Cobb, Wisconsin article. The Village of Cobb has a website with a history section that I added that as a citation. I am concern about possible copyright violations in the Edmund and Cobb, Wisconsin articles and this needs to be address as soon as possible. The edits in the Edmund, Wisconsin article were probably copied from the Dodgeville Chronicle dating to 1935. Wikipedia has a strict policy involving copyright material that is not in the public domain. Many thanks-RFD (talk) 18:25, 20 May 2012 (UTC)

i'm sorry for the mess. i wasn't aware of the fact that the user wasn't aware of copyright restrictions. at least one of the texts he inserted (the one about the history of edmund until 1935) was indeed published later than 1930. it's sometimes hard to understand for newbees of wikipedia how the CC system works. hi, i am an experienced wikipedian, mainly working for the german wikipedia and wiki commons. the deletion request, pending for a week, would have been perfectly okay, because mr. alshehri wanted to provide sources, and i am still collecting some. i wrote the article because he was a star here at gamescom in cologne. in the german wikipedia it would be considered as an unpolite gesture to move the article to draftspace without discussion. best, Maximilian (talk) 22:35, 30 August 2018 (UTC)

I see your point about the deletion request, I actually moved it to draft space because it seemed like a promising article. Maybe there is a difference between the English and German Wikipedia in this case but I moved it under Wikipedia:Drafts#Moving articles to draft space under the section "During new page review" which to my understanding this page qualifies for. I did not mean to be unpolite in any way. If you want I will revert myself and tag the article for WP:PROD again reverting to how it was before (linking to this discussion). I understand that you know how the pending deletion works, but I do want to remind you that with the draft you have more time to find sources and improve the article.
