- You didn't try to find out, either. More to the point, when you go around adding nonsense or rude words to Wikipedia articles, it doesn't matter who asks you to stop doing it. The policy comes from Wikipedia, and is supported by many thousands of editors. If you want to edit here, you need to make edits that are actually useful. Are you up to the challenge? Thank for the note, but I'll have to respectfully maintain my position. Anyone can write an article and claim its subject has won something prestigious; if that victory is notability's sine qua non, it fails absent citation. Verifiability standards require that those adding the data provide the source, not that those reading be forced to search—and this is as true of literature, fact or fiction, as any other encyclopedia subject. :) RadioKirk (u|t|c) 03:23, 23 January 2007 (UTC)

Terrible News from Lord Tortville and Cranville
During a midnight coup, the queen and Emperor have been toppled from power by communist dissidents. Their safety is my one concern at this point and I, along with the Lord Tortville and Sir Walterhouse, must assemble the army to attempt to secure our lands and quell this rebellion which has struck up like wildfire. As I wrote in my latest edit summary, "I'm not too sure I like the javascripted ads presented by the target page" of the External link to TV ACRES: Catchphrases (Character Trademark Phrases & Sayings). I am considering moving changing the external link to be a footnote to "she is back with a similar mistake (and another "Never mind!") in succeeding episodes." and perhaps adding a disclaimer like "(presents javascripted ads)" - what do you think? Mr chuzzlewit
I've got a slight suspicion that Mr chuzzlewit (talk · contribs) is violating the policy at WP:COI, as I suggested to him on his talkpage and at Talk:Doctor Who: Original Television Soundtrack. His edits and edit summaries seem to suggest that he either is Murray Gold (very unlikely) or else an agent or close friend. He has only edited two articles (the soundtrack and Murray's own article), and then only to remove certain sentences which he claims are against policy (while then refusing to cite the said policies).
One edit summary said that "MG's publishers will shortly be in contact with Wikipedia", and a note on his talkpage said that information about MG's parentage and religion "are considered intrusive, tendentious and unjust by the LIVING persons concerned"; the use of the present tense and the lack of a qualifier such as "probably" is rather suspicious.

Thanks for your note. I'm travelling so I just got it. Meanwhile events have overtaken your question. But tfor the record, primary sources like dockets are best avoided. As an encyclopedia we try to stick with secondary sources. Primary sources require interpretation. In this case, the internet-accesible information merely indicates the parties, not the claims or dates, so we have no way of evaluating the relevance, etc. If it were reported in a reliable secondary source then it'd be more suitable for inclusion. -Will Beback · † · 00:12, 29 March 2007 (UTC)

So Weird/so weird
I believe it was Feb when the restriction was dropped. I know that's when all the IPod articles were moved to their stylistic, if not grammatically correct iPod titles they have now. I believe stylistic titles, if self proclaimed, can now be supported. Either way though the WP:RM will need to be done on this article now that the "move" feature is inoperable. Adam's incorrect moves earlier today made direct moving by regular users impossible since there have been edits to the page he would like the page moved to. Only RM can override that now. And cut and paste is still (and never) an appropriate option as it violates the GPL license agreement that Wikipedia operates under. Gateman1997 05:14, 11 April 2007 (UTC)

Thanks for your message. To be honest, I was just following up on a complaint about this user, and was going through his contributions — this one stood out a bit (though it's not out of character).
If there's a problem with incivility and revrting at the article, the best thing is probably to ask for protection (if it's mainly from IP addresses, then semi-protection should do it). If it's one or more people who are persistently uncivil, then you can report them (199.80.117.24 is blocked for six months, already, I see). Please go to the image description page and edit it to include a fair use rationale. Using one of the templates at Wikipedia:Fair use rationale guideline is an easy way to insure that your image is in compliance with Wikipedia policy, but remember that you must complete the template. Do not simply insert a blank template on an image page.

Fair use rationales / book examples
Hi. Thank you for the examples of fair use rationales. There is not a whole lot I could do to automate the process for rationales of the kind I describe. Whatever I do you would still have to type all of this information into my template, if not the basic template. The only thing that could help somewhat is to use the same fields as the infobox, so the field information could be cut and pasted instead of retyped, an incremental improvement. If the policy ends up requiring a long legalistic argument I could help by allowing the template to produce that automatically. However, if the powers that be are content with this basic level of information without the prose argument, not much I can add. If you have to add rationales to all of the non-free images in the novel project that implies spending 2-3 minutes per novel. Perhaps 1-2 if someone gets very good at it, and less if you develop some software tools. My suggestion is you round people up and get them to work, starting with the images that have been tagged, then after that move on to all the other images so they do not get tagged.

The newsletter is back! Many things have gone on during the past few months, but many things have not. While the assessment drive helped revitalize the assessment department of the project, many other departments have received no attention. Most notably: peer review and our "workgroups". A day long IRC meeting has been planned for October 13th, with the major focus being which areas of the project are "dead", what should our goals be as a project, and how to "revive" the dead areas of our project. Contribute to the discussion on the the new channel (see below) We decided to deliver this newsletter to all project members this month but only those with their names down here will get it delivered in the future. This is your newsletter and you can be involved in the creation of the next issue. Any and all contributions are welcome. Simply let yourself be known to any of the undersigned or post news on the next issue's talk page

I'm not exactly sure; I almost removed the image all together, although I understand the work you must have put into it. Most templates are far smaller in size and do not include any image at all. Also, I doubt the image is notable/understandable to the general public. A picture of L'Engle herself (since this is a template encompassing information about her, not only one of her works) would be far more appropriate. What do you think? Perhaps that would look better? Hi Mavarin- Just to let you know, book and publication are one in the same. It is arbitrary and the editor can choose which to use. In fact, the Roget's Thesaurus states as follows:

re: Back to the Future timeline - If you are familiar with the source, please help clarify it. You have readded "imagineer", but I deleted it since the term links only to a DAB, and it was not clear which of the two DABlink was referenced, or whether it was even referring to one of them, or was just a misuse of the term. Since the name of the person also links to a DAB, it was not clear who was being referenced. If you could please correct the links for both "imagineer" (if it's disney, the the link would be more clear if it links to the imagineering page than the DAB for Imagineer), and the man's name to link to the proper articles (if there is no page for him, remove the wikilink), it would be appreciated. - Bruce Gordon also brings up a host of wikientries that don't look like any of them are him. Pretty common name - Google probably includes a lot of other Bruce Gordons in its results. Either way, appreciate your doing all that research, and I think it's a lot better now. Noone takes care of some of these BTTF articles, I really hate that timeline one because it's so arbitrarily put together with some included and some excluded stuff... Hi! Non-free images of living people used solely to depict their appearance generally aren't allowed, but can be used in an article about the character. The images was being used only in the actor's page, so I went ahead and deleted it. east.718 at 10:55, January 1, 2008
I see you found the deletion log and dicovered the deleting admin. I am not really sure of the image should have been deleted after you moved it and added a fair use rationale. Although when I ask myself, does the article still gives the same information without the image, the answer is yes. In that regard I don't think the image passed WP:NFCC. But it's a judgment call.
