Thanks for uploading or contributing to Image:Fairchild channel-f system 2.jpg. I notice the image page specifies that the image is being used under fair use but there is not a suitable explanation or rationale as to why each specific use in Wikipedia constitutes fair use. Please go to the image description page and edit it to include a fair use rationale.

If you have uploaded other fair use media, consider checking that you have specified the fair use rationale on those pages too. You can find a list of 'image' pages you have edited by clicking on the "my contributions" link (it is located at the very top of any Wikipedia page when you are logged in), and then selecting "Image" from the dropdown box. Note that any non-free media lacking such an explanation will be deleted one week after they have been uploaded, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you. Ricky81682 (talk) 04:13, 19 October 2007 (UTC) [reply]

Disputed fair use rationale for Image:Dandy opening.png[edit]

Thanks for uploading Image:Dandy opening.png. However, there is a concern that the rationale you have provided for using this image under "fair use" may be invalid. Please read the instructions at Wikipedia:Non-free content carefully, then go to the image description page and clarify why you think the image qualifies for fair use. Using one of the templates at Wikipedia:Fair use rationale guideline is an easy way to ensure that your image is in compliance with Wikipedia policy, but remember that you must complete the template. Do not simply insert a blank template on an image page.

If it is determined that the image does not qualify under fair use, it will be deleted within a couple of days according to our criteria for speedy deletion. If you have any questions please ask them at the media copyright questions page. Thank you.BetacommandBot 06:40, 27 October 2007 (UTC) [reply]

Emulation in the IBM 5100[edit]

You asked on my talk page whether it was widely known that the IBM 5100 emulated the IBM System/360. It was stated in "The IBM Family of APL Systems" (A.D. Falkoff, IBM Systems Journal vol 30 no 4, 1991) that the 5100 emulates the System/360 to run APL\SV. In "A Microprocessor-Based Portable Computer: The IBM 5100" (D. Robson, Proceedings of the IEEE vol 64 no 6, June 1976), Robson states that the 5100 uses emulation to run the APL and BASIC interpreters, but doesn't explicitly identify the emulated computer(s). --Brouhaha 00:07, 29 October 2007 (UTC) [reply]

Image:Me_163B-0.jpg[edit]

I have tagged Image:Me_163B-0.jpg as a disputed use of non-free media, because there is a concern that the rationale you have provided for using this image under "fair use" may be invalid. Please clarify your fair use rationale on the image description page. Thank you. Calliopejen1 20:40, 29 October 2007 (UTC) [reply]

Maury, what needs to be done in [1] which was identified by a bot as missing some fair use information. I thought everything was in place. BTW, I had a meeting with Russell Isinger recently in Saskatoon after an aviation convention who Opuscalgary had invoked as having spoken to his research assistant. It amused Russ as he doesn't have a research assistant. FWIW Bzuk 04:10, 30 October 2007 (UTC).[reply]

Ph geez, I am getting so tired of these bots. It seems the rules on non-free content have been changed AGAIN, and now you have to provide a link to the article in the description itself, like "qualifies for use in 'bots are useless'". As you can see above, I've been getting hammered with this myself. Maury 11:53, 30 October 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Selectron Tube layout problems[edit]

Thanks for making a noob feel better -- I spent an hour working to add that cross section image and it kept doing unexpected stuff.... A EE doing software is not usually a good sign; an EE doing aesthetic design is usually not a good sigh. OldZeb 04:48, 31 October 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Hey, I couldn't get it to work any better myself! I'm thinking maybe we just remove the big memory types block, the selectron is rare enough that I don't think it really needs to be part of the "mainstream". Maury 11:53, 31 October 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Camber[edit]

Hi, I saw you'd edited an article here and there on Aerospace Engineering stuff, and I wanted to solicit some feedback on camber (aerodynamics). I added the Definition section, including the image. I'd appreciate any input you have. User:!jimtalk contribs 08:26, 31 October 2007 (UTC)[reply]

The additions look great, but I'm trying to figure out how to get all the formulas to have the same style, the "large style" like the last one. Also, that definition in the intro seems funny to me. I always thought of camber as simply "curvature", not "the difference in curvature". Maury 11:55, 31 October 2007 (UTC)[reply]

DYK[edit]

Great nomination for J.Caldwell. I really enjoyed the article. A diagram, a portrit or a signature would be good. Did you see this. I'm guessing these pics are public domain.... just an idea Victuallers 21:41, 31 October 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Thanks for the link! I'm trying to clarify the possible usage of the images. Maury 03:33, 1 November 2007 (UTC)[reply]

License tagging for Image:Gravity Aeroplane cyclogyro letterhead.png[edit]

Thanks for uploading Image:Gravity Aeroplane cyclogyro letterhead.png. Wikipedia gets thousands of images uploaded every day, and in order to verify that the images can be legally used on Wikipedia, the source and copyright status must be indicated. Images need to have an image tag applied to the image description page indicating the copyright status of the image. This uniform and easy-to-understand method of indicating the license status allows potential re-users of the images to know what they are allowed to do with the images.

For more information on using images, see the following pages:

This is an automated notice by OrphanBot. If you need help on selecting a tag to use, or in adding the tag to the image description, feel free to post a message at Wikipedia:Media copyright questions. 13:06, 1 November 2007 (UTC)

Replaceable fair use Image:ICF laser power.png[edit]

Replaceable fair use
Replaceable fair use

Thanks for uploading Image:ICF laser power.png. I noticed the 'image' page specifies that the image is being used under fair use, but its use in Wikipedia articles fails our first fair use criterion in that it illustrates a subject for which a freely licensed image could reasonably be found or created that provides substantially the same information. If you believe this image is not replaceable, please:

  1. Go to the image description page and edit it to add {{di-replaceable fair use disputed}}, without deleting the original Replaceable fair use template.
  2. On the image discussion page, write the reason why this image is not replaceable at all.

Alternatively, you can also choose to replace the fair use image by finding a freely licensed image of its subject, requesting that the copyright holder release this (or a similar) image under a free license, or by taking a picture of it yourself.

If you have uploaded other fair use media, consider checking that you have specified how these images fully satisfy our fair use criteria. You can find a list of 'image' pages you have edited by clicking on this link. Note that even if you follow steps 1 and 2 above, fair use images which could be replaced by free-licensed alternatives will be deleted 2 days after this notification (7 days if not used in an article), per our Fair Use policy. If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you. —Remember the dot (talk) 19:21, 1 November 2007 (UTC) [reply]
