To get some practice editing you can use a sandbox. You can create your own personal sandbox for use any time. It's perfect for working on bigger projects. Then for easy access in the future, you can put My sandbox on your userpage.

Please remember to:

 • Always sign your posts on talk pages. You can do this either by clicking on the button on the edit toolbar or by typing four tildes ~~~~ at the end of your post. This will automatically insert your signature, a link to your talk page, and a timestamp.
 • Leave descriptive edit summaries for your edits. Doing so helps other editors understand what changes you have made and why you made them.
The best way to learn about something is to experience it. Explore, learn, contribute, and don't forget to have some fun!

ArbCom 2023 Elections voter message[edit]

Hello! Voting in the 2023 Arbitration Committee elections is now open until 23:59 (UTC) on Monday, 11 December 2023. All eligible users are allowed to vote. Users with alternate accounts may only vote once.

The Arbitration Committee is the panel of editors responsible for conducting the Wikipedia arbitration process. It has the authority to impose binding solutions to disputes between editors, primarily for serious conduct disputes the community has been unable to resolve. This includes the authority to impose site bans, topic bans, editing restrictions, and other measures needed to maintain our editing environment. The arbitration policy describes the Committee's roles and responsibilities in greater detail.

If you wish to participate in the 2023 election, please review the candidates and submit your choices on the voting page. If you no longer wish to receive these messages, you may add NoACEMM to your user talk page. MediaWiki message delivery (talk) 00:54, 28 November 2023 (UTC)[reply]

Camila Batmanghelidjh[edit]

Hi, I saw you added 1 January 1963 as Camila's date of birth, because a lot of sources are saying she died on her birthday. She celebrated her birthday on 1 January but her birth was never registered so she didn't even know her own actual date of birth. See this article from the BBC which confirms her date of birth is unknown.  dummelaksen  (talkcontribs) 02:32, 7 January 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Fair enough - that wasn't made clear in a lot of the articles about her death. Mark and inwardly digest (talk) 08:42, 7 January 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Harry the house[edit]

Hi,

The IP user you reverted here is a very prolific blocked editor, "Harry the house". Could you keep an eye out for his work? He tends to edit pages on British politics and television, and has a fondness for changing "after" to "following", as well as adding "piped" forms to random links and overlinking the names of Labour politicians. This was Harry, and so was this, and this, and this, and this, and this, and this, and this, and this, and most of these, and many, many more.

Best wishes, Jean-de-Nivelle (talk) 10:22, 21 January 2024 (UTC)[reply]

PS

The other thing is that Wikipedia actually prefers redirects to piped links. Please have a look at MOS:LINK, WP:NOTBROKEN and WP:NOPIPE.

☒N Mozart

checkY Mozart

OK, thanks - I mistakenly thought that piped links were preferred. Mark and inwardly digest (talk) 12:23, 21 January 2024 (UTC)[reply]
It's a really common misperception, but I'm doing my best to spread the word. If you'd like a good practical example of the advantages of redirection, see the example of Henry VIII here. Jean-de-Nivelle (talk) 12:37, 21 January 2024 (UTC)[reply]
