A tag has been placed on Makoa Combatives, requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under the criteria for speedy deletion, because the article seems to be blatant advertising which only promotes a company, product, group, service or person and would need to be fundamentally rewritten in order to become an encyclopedia article. Please read the general criteria for speedy deletion, particularly item 11, as well as the guidelines on spam.

If you can indicate why the subject of this article is not blatant advertising, you may contest the tagging. To do this, please add {{hangon}} on the top of the article and leave a note on the article's talk page explaining your position. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag yourself, but don't hesitate to add information to the article that would help make it encyclopedic, as well as adding any citations from reliable sources to ensure that the article will be verifiable. Feel free to leave a note on my talk page if you have any questions about this. Agathoclea (talk) 17:12, 24 December 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Notability of Makoa combatives[edit]

A tag has been placed on Makoa combatives requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done because the article appears to be about a person, group of people, band, club, company, or web content, but it does not indicate how or why the subject is notable: that is, why an article about that subject should be included in an encyclopedia. Under the criteria for speedy deletion, articles that do not indicate the subject's importance or significance may be deleted at any time. Please see the guidelines for what is generally accepted as notable. If this is the first page that you have created, then you should read the guide to writing your first article.

If you think that you can assert the notability of the subject, you may contest the deletion by adding {{hangon}} to the top of the page (just below the existing speedy deletion or "db" tag), coupled with adding a note on the article's talk page explaining your position, but be aware that once tagged for speedy deletion, if the article meets the criterion it may be deleted without delay. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag yourself, but don't hesitate to add information to the article that would confirm the subject's notability under Wikipedia guidelines.

For guidelines on specific types of articles, you may want to check out our criteria for biographies, for web sites, for bands, or for companies. Feel free to leave a note on my talk page if you have any questions about this.

In addition, please read Wikipedia's guideline on conflict of interest. Corvus cornixtalk 23:24, 24 December 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Nobody is harrassing you, and I'm sorry if that's what you feel is happening. You need to understand that Wikipedia gets thousands of edits a day to articles which have no notability under the site's guidelines. This martial art needs to have reliable sources which have been written about it -- neutral, third party sources which disucss the martial art as the primary focus of the article. That means newspapers, magazines, or websites which can be counted on to be peer-reviewed to verify that the information they provide is accurate. Your Userid indicates that you have an interest in the subject, anyway, which makes all of your edits even more suspect, though that doesn't mean that you can't edit, but did you read the link I provided above? It's always best of neutrals write about something rather than people with a connection to it. Please write to me on my Talk page if you have any more questions. Welcome to Wikipedia. Please do not remove speedy deletion tags from pages that you have created yourself, as you did with Makoa combatives. If you do not believe the page should be deleted, then please place {{hangon}} on the page (please do not remove any existing speedy deletion tag) and make your case on the page's talk page. Administrators will look at your reasoning before deciding what to do with the page. Thank you. Corvus cornixtalk 23:58, 24 December 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Another editor has added the "{{prod}}" template to the article Makoa Combatives, suggesting that it be deleted according to the proposed deletion process. All contributions are appreciated, but the editor doesn't believe it satisfies Wikipedia's criteria for inclusion, and has explained why in the article (see also Wikipedia:What Wikipedia is not and Wikipedia:Notability). Please either work to improve the article if the topic is worthy of inclusion in Wikipedia or discuss the relevant issues at its talk page. If you remove the {{prod}} template, the article will not be deleted, but note that it may still be sent to Wikipedia:Articles for deletion, where it may be deleted if consensus to delete is reached.
