Troubles Arbitration Case: Amendment for discretionary sanctions[edit]

As a party in The Troubles arbitration case I am notifying you that an amendment request has been posted here.

For the Arbitration Committee

Seddon talk|WikimediaUK 16:41, 17 November 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Thank you. For what it's worth, my own view is that now that the most obvious disruptive influence has been removed (although only God knows for how long), Admins should impose, vigorously, community norms relating to civility, good faith, and so on. Even on Giano.
For my own part, I'm afraid that I'm not particularly interested. The problem with 'the Troubles' is that it's a huge waste of time for anyone who has a wider perspective than the nationalistic bigotry on display, much of it moronically unhistorical. The assorted fervid race warriors who find this reply (it'll be up for a week before being automatically archived) might like to look up this article and consider.
As I look down on the ant farm that is Wikipedia, I wonder why anyone with any sense or discrimination - Rockpocket and Elonka in particular - bothers to get involved, especially given the amount of spiteful abuse they have to put up with, instead of leaving the over-hormonal adolescents to get on with it. It's not really a place for intelligent people, or even grown-ups, Wikipedia, is it? --Major Bonkers (talk) 01:10, 18 November 2009 (UTC)[reply]
Good point as always, Major. Its been quite some time since we have had the pleasure of your company. It appears absence hasn't made the heart grow fonder, in your case, but its good to know that you are still around all the same. Rockpocket 03:03, 18 November 2009 (UTC)[reply]
And lovely to hear from you too, Rockpocket! As you'll be aware, one starts contributing to a project such as this with high hopes about the republic of letters, the free dissemination of knowledge, the intelligence of one's fellow contributors, and so on, and one rapidly becomes jaded. I don't mean to sound like a fascist, but I find myself mugged by reality. I don't need some anonymous half-wit to tell me I'm an idiot: that's what my parents, parents-in-law, wife, and children are for! Best wishes, --Major Bonkers (talk) 16:47, 18 November 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Coordinate for HMS Lutine[edit]

Dear Major Bonkers,

I see that you have done some work on the HMS Lutine (1779) page in the past. As far as I could find in the history of the page you also added the coordinates for the presumed position of the ship (last paragraph in HMS_Lutine_(1779)#Initial_salvage_attempts section).

If you still have this information, could you please tell me where you got this information?

Thanks a great deal in advance!

Clarification motion[edit]

A case (The Troubles) in which you were involved has been modified by motion which changed the wording of the discretionary sanctions section to clarify that the scope applies to pages, not just articles. For the arbitration committee --S Philbrick(Talk) 21:04, 27 October 2014 (UTC)[reply]

Hi,
You appear to be eligible to vote in the current Arbitration Committee election. The Arbitration Committee is the panel of editors responsible for conducting the Wikipedia arbitration process. It has the authority to enact binding solutions for disputes between editors, primarily related to serious behavioural issues that the community has been unable to resolve. This includes the ability to impose site bans, topic bans, editing restrictions, and other measures needed to maintain our editing environment. The arbitration policy describes the Committee's roles and responsibilities in greater detail. If you wish to participate, you are welcome to review the candidates' statements and submit your choices on the voting page.
