Welcome to Wikipedia. I noticed that your username, "NWOAL News", may not comply with our username policy. Please note that you may not use a username that represents the name of a company, group, organization, product, or website. Examples of usernames that are not allowed include "XYZ Company", "MyWidgetsUSA.com", and "Foobar Museum of Art". However, you are invited to use a username that contains such a name if it identifies you personally, such as "Jack Smith at XYZ Company", "Mark at WidgetsUSA", or "FoobarFan87".

Please also note that Wikipedia does not allow accounts to be shared by multiple people, and that you may not advocate for or promote any company, group, organization, product, or website, regardless of your username. Moreover, I recommend that you read our conflict of interest guideline. If you are a single individual and are willing to contribute to Wikipedia in an unbiased manner, please create a new account or request a change of username, by completing this form, choosing a username that complies with our username policy. If you believe that your username does not violate our policy, please leave a note here explaining why. Thank you. Justeditingtoday (talk) 21:30, 18 February 2017 (UTC)[reply]

February 2017[edit]

There have been two problems identified with this account: the account has been used for advertising or promotion, which is contrary to the purpose of Wikipedia, and your username indicates that the account represents a business or other organisation or group, which is also against policy, as an account must be for just one person. Because of those problems, the account has been blocked indefinitely from editing.

If you intend to make useful contributions about some topic other than your business or organisation, you may request an unblock. To do so, post the text {{unblock-spamun|Your proposed new username|Your reason here}} at the bottom of your talk page. Replace the text "Your proposed new username" with a new username you are willing to use. See Special:CentralAuth to search for available usernames. Your new username will need to meet our username policy. Replace the text "Your reason here" with your reason to be unblocked. In this reason, you must:

  • Convince us that you understand the reason for your block and that you will not repeat the kind of edits for which you were blocked.
  • Describe in general terms the contributions that you intend to make if you are unblocked.
If you believe this block was made in error, you may appeal this block by adding the text {{unblock|Your reason here}} at the bottom of your talk page, but you should read the guide to appealing blocks first. Orange Mike | Talk 01:39, 19 February 2017 (UTC)[reply]

Requested username:

Request reason:

When creating my wikipedia account, I signed up with a name/alias that I have been using for quite some time online. I run a twitter account of the same name, but when I created the wikipedia account with the same name, I was not intending it to be a promotional tactic or anything of the sort. My main goal was to go through some wiki pages of local sports teams and make corrections to the records and their championship seasons and such. I was in no way trying to do anything promotional, and I apologize for making it seem as if that was the case. I have already requested and was granted a username change.

Decline reason:

Duplicate request. Only one unblock request at a time, please. See below. Huon (talk) 21:37, 9 March 2017 (UTC)[reply]

As long as your requested username contains the letters NOAL or NWOAL or some other combination indicative of the North West/Northwest Ohio Athletic League your account will not be unblocked. Com up with something less promotional and then we can talk about moving forward. I would recommend reading WP:USERNAME to get a better idea about what names will and won't be accepted here. Request reason:

I was told to get unblocked I needed to change my name to something that is viewed as non promotional. I have submitted a name change which is simply just a username with no relation to a promotion of anything of the sort.
Please include a decline or accept reason.

Request reason:

I have been blocked because of my username being promotional in nature. I have requested a name change to MRPeebles271 instead, which is not promotional in nature. NWOhioSportsFan (talk) 01:33, 1 March 2017 (UTC)[reply]

I've done the rename, Could you describe in general terms the contributions that you intend to make if you are unblocked? PhilKnight (talk) 03:11, 1 March 2017 (UTC)[reply]

Request reason:

In response to PhilKnight, the edits I am interested in doing are looking at athletics pages for high schools in my local area, and editing the years they have won things like league championships, state titles, and other such accolades and awards. I also am interested in editing local athletic leagues pages in order to have the history of their championships be accurate. I'm not associated with any league or company. I'm simply a casual fan who is interested in the records of the league and know others who would find it useful if the records were accurate. MRPeebles271 (talk) 03:18, 1 March 2017 (UTC)[reply]

I have unblocked your account. Please note that it's not enough to provide accurate records - you will also need to provide a reliable published source for those records to allow our readers to verify that the records are accurate. Huon (talk) 21:37, 9 March 2017 (UTC)[reply]

Hello, I'm Wikipelli. I noticed that you made a change to an article, Jon Weiner, but you didn't provide a source. I’ve removed it for now, but if you’d like to include a citation to a reliable source and re-add it, please do so! If you think I made a mistake, or if you have any questions, you can leave me a message on my talk page. Thanks. Wikipelli Talk 15:11, 2 April 2018 (UTC)[reply]
