Vandalizing Harvard alumni pages.[edit]

You need to stop going around wikipedia and vandalizing pages of schools you dont like. Based on your commments i can tell youre not even Harvard affliated so i dont know what your bone with their Extension school is but it needs to stop.

It is true some people who graduated from Harvard University through the Extension school hide that fact. But it's also true that some people like you, try to erase Harvard from the Extension School.

Convention on wikipedia is as follows,

In the infobox you put uni_name (degree1,degree2)

In the education or personal section you say school_name at uni_name. Those who hide Extension in the bio are wrong but you cant hide the uni either..both are valid..stop being petty.

P.s. Also Oxford also has a continuing education division do you, if I can't get you to stop warring against Harvard's maybe I can get you to start vandalizing their alumni :p

I'm not "vandalizing" anything. I have sources for every edit. I have particular interests that cause certain types of edits to be more likely, that's all. I'm sorry if that struck a nerve with you. LyonsDen1995 (talk) 03:14, 4 July 2023 (UTC)[reply]
Additionally, i'm not attempting to hide the uni, I've repeatedly recognized that the school is legitimately affiliated with Harvard, it is a Harvard school. However, the issue arises when alumni attempt to portray HES as a traditional harvard school, with traditional selectivity, which is flatly false. LyonsDen1995 (talk) 03:19, 4 July 2023 (UTC)[reply]
Extension is neither the easiest nor the hardest school to matriculate into at Harvard..this has been explained to you. It has also been explained it is customsry to put the schoolX at Havard University in the bio and the uni in the infobox with the degrees..
Whatever reservations you have are a you issue..

Fyi there are alunmi that have a degree from the college and a masters from extension..under your method theyd have to list under two different ala meters...but per convention it should be in the infobox Havard University (AB, ALM)
And then in the bio it would be studied at the college and the Extension School at Harvard University 2607:FB91:161D:23D8:D888:186D:36C1:9F0D (talk) 03:41, 4 July 2023 (UTC)[reply]
No Harvard school has an open enrollment procedure in the same way that HES does. Accessibility is the difference. Additionally, HES has undergrad degrees, but they aren't from Harvard's extremely competitive traditional program. To a layperson, the word Harvard means exclusivity and highly selective, and that's simply not what HES is. LyonsDen1995 (talk) 03:51, 4 July 2023 (UTC)[reply]
So you're suggesting similar treatment for the divinity school and for education which both high higher matriculation rates than Extension?
I've been kind of abrupt but I'll slow down and explain how Extension actually works as this may help you understand.
  1. 1 most classes at Extension and Harvard summer school are available to all.
  2. 2 you can finish your degree at the college through HSS and you work on your degree at Extension through Extension classes or HSS.
Btw HSS is open to the public too..
  1. 3 to matriculate you have to pass a gatekeeper class in addition to 2 normal Extension classes generally..this gatekeeper class is very difficult and usually has about 1/3 of the class actually passes with honors grades that lets them matriculate.
Its inverted admissions..and comes around to 30% who pass the gatekeeper, but a few people have run the numbers for the undergraduate based on intent and have found it is closer to 9%..either way both ed and divinity are much less selective.
Finally you still have to go to committee. People generally dont fail committe for academic reasons that pass the reqs but they do deny people. 2607:FB91:161D:23D8:D888:186D:36C1:9F0D (talk) 04:03, 4 July 2023 (UTC)[reply]
Also its not "affliated with Harvard"..edx, harvard online, and hbs online are "affliated with" Harvard..
It is Harvard, in every way imaginable..I know you think Harvard is a magical fortresses that has super selective admissions but that isnt true..its def true of the college, hbs, and hls, but it isnt true for divinity or education. I will repeat for you again based on fact Extension is neither the most selective nor the least selective school at Harvard. 2607:FB91:161D:23D8:D888:186D:36C1:9F0D (talk) 03:49, 4 July 2023 (UTC)[reply]
The point i'm getting at isn't just the acceptance rates, you're stuck on that and think bringing up the Divinity school proves your point, it doesn't. The Divinity school doesn't offer undergrad degrees. Harvard has a traditional undergrad school (Harvard college) and 12 professional and grad schools. LyonsDen1995 (talk) 03:58, 4 July 2023 (UTC)[reply]
No one is comparing Extension to just the college..but you are saying there are 11 "real" harvard schools and then theres Extension. You want to label Extension differently then a degree from the divinity school (and not just the letters)..you aren't going around to div alumni and changing their info box from harvard University so i can absolutely bring it up. 2607:FB91:161D:23D8:D888:186D:36C1:9F0D (talk) 04:08, 4 July 2023 (UTC)[reply]
You're avoiding my main point Lol. I'm not labeling Divinity as the same as HES..
The admissions process at HES is uniquely accessible and nontraditional, and it offers undergrad degrees, albeit in "Extension Studies."
This allows for easy misrepresentation, by only excluding the word extension. No other school has this issue, because no other school could be confused with the Harvard College (undergrad). Which is why the resume guidance is specific to HES. They want that E word on there. There's a long list of Extension students and alumni who have tried to misrepresent their status, and it's painfully obvious.
A HES degree is a respectable achievement, i'm not hating on it. Just be honest, it is not a traditional Harvard school. LyonsDen1995 (talk) 04:43, 4 July 2023 (UTC)[reply]
Also some asshats try to do this with the business school too, and gsas has the same issue with some saying AM instead of ALM.. and some will take their "Harvard business online" and say they went to hbs. This even happens with Extension when famouspy Hillary duff took a class at Extension and claimed to be a harvard student..furthermore, and shockingly, some people claim to go to Harvard and never have even gone their..on linked in MIT and Harvard are the two most impsotered schools..I do get the concern and we are on the same side there.
So point is we all a little butt hurt with posers, but Extension derserves its due too -- its not the college and its not the business school but it is harvard. And as long as that name means anything theyll be posers 65.60.228.170 (talk) 05:19, 4 July 2023 (UTC)[reply]
Thats not the point..people who claim to have an AB from Havard when they have an ALB deserve a special spot in hell. But it's still Harvard University (ALB) in the infobox. 2607:FB91:161D:23D8:D888:186D:36C1:9F0D (talk) 05:08, 4 July 2023 (UTC)[reply]
Also maybe we can come to some kind of agreement with the Extension school page. I understand why you added open enrollment but its not quite right as the degrees are not and the section you added it to was about degrees in the lede.
There's a section in paragraph 2 that says..
HES offers over 900 courses spanning various liberal arts and professional disciplines, offered in on-campus, online, and hybrid formats. These courses are generally available to both its matriculated students and to the general public.
Is it your position that is too late and needs to be moved up? 2607:FB91:161D:23D8:4C43:987F:9947:872F (talk) 05:13, 4 July 2023 (UTC)[reply]
Maybe troll was too strong of a word but i hope you see my position. Goals would be to come to an agreement so we can unlock the damn page. 65.60.228.170 (talk) 05:21, 4 July 2023 (UTC)[reply]
