Thank you for hiding that edit revision on Pyotr Ilyich Tchaikovsky. Can you give it semi-protection? You'll see in the edit history that things like this happens every few days, not to mention the sexuality and nationality SPAs. Aza24 (talk) 23:28, 30 October 2021 (UTC)

Austinwillette612 looks to me like a sock of someone you have blocked. If so, do you have any idea who? JBW (talk) 23:06, 7 November 2021 (UTC)

JBW, nothing seems to be coming to me right now. I recently blanked their user page after some choice words about Wikipedia. Perhaps that is what "quit deleting my account" is referring to? -- LuK3 (Talk) 23:12, 7 November 2021 (UTC)

Hey, just wanted to note that the UFC now regards Joanne Calderwood as "Joanne Wood" following her marriage to her coach. They advertised her appearance on the card next weekend using her new name.

Possible IP hopper

I saw you blocked User talk:174.198.6.150, and looking at the history of one of the pages they vandalized, and the contribs of all of the IPs there, I think the IP might be an IP-hopping vandal. I think it might be worth looking into the page histories of other pages the IPs have vandalized. I don't think I have the time to do this myself at the moment. InvalidOStalk 14:12, 19 November 2021 (UTC)

InvalidOS, thanks for the message. I'll take a look later today. -- LuK3 (Talk) 14:13, 19 November 2021 (UTC)
InvalidOS, so I checked the IPs and it looks like I did block 2601:989:4002:ef90::/64 for 3 months. It looks like Ohnoitsjamie also blocked 174.198.0.0/18. The disruption is happening relatively infrequently so I think page protection isn't needed at this time. -- LuK3 (Talk) 18:43, 19 November 2021 (UTC)
Alright. Thanks for taking a look. InvalidOStalk 22:10, 19 November 2021 (UTC)

A message from Brian Weissmann

Hi Luk3, I have provided sources directly sourced from the Shitcoin official website, there should not be any sources which are not legit. Can you make me able to edit the page once again? And if possible, please rollback the last change I made to the Shitcoin page. Thanks in advance! Brian Weissmann (talk) 14:27, 20 November 2021 (UTC)

Brian Weissmann, I see no inline citations that establish notability for the subject. In addition, cryptocurrency and blockchain-related articles are subject to more stringent sanctions due to prior disruption, see Wikipedia:General sanctions/Blockchain and cryptocurrencies. -- LuK3 (Talk) 14:31, 20 November 2021 (UTC)

Hi Luk3, can you unlock the semi-protection of the site so I can add Inline Citations for the page? I understand it is a sensitive subject, but cannot rectify the mistake if I can't edit. — Preceding unsigned comment added by Brian Weissmann (talkcontribs) 15:57, 20 November 2021 (UTC)

Unfortunately I cannot do that. You can use the talk page to propose your changes but there is no guarantee they will be added. -- LuK3 (Talk) 16:10, 20 November 2021 (UTC)

Accusing someone of personally attacking someone in your edit log below with no basis? The bloke lied about me, claiming i was an indefinitely blocked user. Five Years 15:35, 20 November 2021 (UTC)

Five Years, from the looks of it GreenC stated the page creator is an indefinitely blocked user, not you. Having said that, I would suggest taking a look at Wikipedia's policies on no personal attacks relating to your comment calling GreenC an "idiot". Also, if you continue to re-add comments on user talk pages after they removed them can be construed as harassment. -- LuK3 (Talk) 15:48, 20 November 2021 (UTC)

Five Years, according to the deleted page history you were not the page creator. Regardless, I would just drop it, it was 8 years ago. -- LuK3 (Talk) 15:56, 20 November 2021 (UTC)
Thank you for your positive comments, its pretty disparaging that someone is allowed to make false and misleading statements about you and then shuts down all debate when called on it. I guess it was X number of years ago. Thanks again Five Years 15:58, 20 November 2021 (UTC)

A question about page protection

I'm still pretty new at page protection so when I saw Wikipedia talk:Teahouse up at RFPP I looked into it, arriving seconds after your pp. There's been no ip vandalism and the only recent disruptor has been blocked. Is this a socker with a history of returning with new accounts or ips? I'm not at all questioning your actions, only your process (for my better understanding). BusterD (talk) 20:36, 20 November 2021 (UTC)

BusterD, thanks for the message. There has been continued disruption on that talk page from multiple newly-created accounts. The page logs can provide more information. I find User:MelanieN/Page protection to be very informative about page protection, even if you are not an administrator. Please let me know if you have any other questions! -- LuK3 (Talk) 20:45, 20 November 2021 (UTC)
I had not read the essay so thanks! I'm very much interested in what that worthy editor has to say on the subject. I'm experiencing the challenge of noise/signal ratio as an admin and it's affecting my boldness and willingness. The addition of the bit has hurt my pagespace contributions more than I would like. I'm still quite reactive and not yet comfortable. Happy to hear any feedback you might provide over the long haul. BusterD (talk) 20:57, 20 November 2021 (UTC)
BusterD, I'm glad to be of assistance. Please do let me know if you have any further questions or comments, my talk page is always open. -- LuK3 (Talk) 21:06, 20 November 2021 (UTC)

Hi, we will like to create a page for the company, Pro Cars Woking. It is an established taxi company for all most 5 years, with reputable customers, great reviews and an Award-Winning Company for Most Trusted Taxi Company Surrey 2020. Can you please help me as not as don't know how to do it the way not to be taken down or rejected? You can verify the web at www.procarswoking.com It will be a shame for such a great taxi company not to be on Wikipedia. Can be done, if so I will really appreciate your support.

A recently closed Request for Comment (RFC) reached consensus to remove Autopatrolled from the administrator user group. You may, similarly as with Edit Filter Manager, choose to self-assign this permission to yourself. This will be implemented the week of December 13th, but if you wish to self-assign you may do so now. To find out when the change has gone live or if you have any questions please visit the Administrator's Noticeboard. 20:06, 7 December 2021 (UTC)

How we will see unregistered users

Hi!

You get this message because you are an admin on a Wikimedia wiki.

When someone edits a Wikimedia wiki without being logged in today, we show their IP address. As you may already know, we will not be able to do this in the future. This is a decision by the Wikimedia Foundation Legal department, because norms and regulations for privacy online have changed.

Instead of the IP we will show a masked identity. You as an admin will still be able to access the IP. There will also be a new user right for those who need to see the full IPs of unregistered users to fight vandalism, harassment and spam without being admins. Patrollers will also see part of the IP even without this user right. We are also working on better tools to help.

If you have not seen it before, you can read more on Meta. If you want to make sure you don’t miss technical changes on the Wikimedia wikis, you can subscribe to the weekly technical newsletter.

We have two suggested ways this identity could work. We would appreciate your feedback on which way you think would work best for you and your wiki, now and in the future. You can let us know on the talk page. You can write in your language. The suggestions were posted in October and we will decide after 17 January.

Thank you. /Johan (WMF)

Hello User:LuK3! May I request that you remove full protection from Katy Perry? Hi LuK3, thanks for protecting the WP:MOVE shortcut - I noticed that you semi-move-protected it, which as I understand it won't have any effect as non-autoconfirmed users can't move pages anyway. Should it be EC-move protected? :) Thanks, firefly ( t · c ) 13:50, 3 February 2022 (UTC)

Hey! I've made some more requests for oversight that are the same as the edits you just oversighted. I wonder if this user is an LTA or just some kid who's bored. ― Blaze WolfTalkBlaze Wolf#6545 02:41, 11 February 2022 (UTC)

Talk page access revoke

Hey! Could you revoke the TPA of 2A03:EF42:3:E517:E99E:F779:BD3D:CD6C? ― Blaze WolfTalkBlaze Wolf#6545 18:32, 14 February 2022 (UTC)

Blaze Wolf, editors can remove most content, including block templates and warnings, from their talk page, see WP:BLANKING. -- LuK3 (Talk) 18:34, 14 February 2022 (UTC)
Ah ok. I just didn't think they were allowed to do that while they were blocked (since that isn't really the reason for them being able to user their talk page in the first place). Sounds good. ― Blaze WolfTalkBlaze Wolf#6545 18:36, 14 February 2022 (UTC)

Redaction and Revdeling of email

In the thread about WMF's human rights declaration and the subsequent debacle of support for blind users, I noticed the email had been redacted. However, Guy Macon Alernate Account (who posted the comment in question) hadn't made any edits, and much of the recent edit history of the page had been revdel'd.

I'm not saying you did something wrong, but you were the last person to Revdel the page and you had made edits recently.

Can you tell me why you revdel'd those pages (and if you happened to be the one who redacted the email - why?).

Best regards, ☢️Plutonical☢️ᶜᵒᵐᵐᵘⁿᶦᶜᵃᵗᶦᵒⁿˢ 19:45, 14 February 2022 (UTC)

Plutonical, thanks for the message. Email messages are actually copyrighted protected and historically have been revision deleted in the past. Both Wikipedia:Emailing users#Abuse_handling and Wikipedia:Harassment#Private correspondence have more information regarding posting private email messages on Wikipedia. As far as I can tell, only the revisions that include the full email message have been revision deleted. The contents of those revisions have not been changed. I hope that clears it up. -- LuK3 (Talk)
Thank you for the speedy response. I understand now. Have a good day. ☢️Plutonical☢️ᶜᵒᵐᵐᵘⁿᶦᶜᵃᵗᶦᵒⁿˢ 20:06, 14 February 2022 (UTC)

WP:AFC Helper News

Hello! I wanted to drop a quick note for all of our AFC participants; nothing huge and fancy like a newsletter, but a few points of interest.

  • AFCH will now show live previews of the comment to be left on a decline.
  • The template {{db-afc-move}} has been created - this template is similar to {{db-move}} when there is a redirect in the way of an acceptance, but specifically tells the patrolling admin to let you (the draft reviewer) take care of the actual move.

Short and sweet, but there's always more to discuss at WT:AFC. Stop on by, maybe review a draft on the way? Whether you're one of our top reviewers, or haven't reviewed in a while, I want to thank you for helping out in the past and in the future. Cheers, Primefac, via MediaWiki message delivery (talk) 16:00, 16 February 2022 (UTC)

Thanks for removing the db tag, I was about to revert myself when I saw you removed the notice . Cheers Megan B.... It’s all coming to me till the end of time 17:19, 16 February 2022 (UTC)

A message from 176.105.8.114

176.105.8.114 (talk) 18:54, 17 March 2022 (UTC) Hi. What was "unconstructive" in my edit? Specify where I'm wrong, please.

Your edit was a WP:BLP violation, it included no reliable sources and included personal commentary about the subject. All content, especially related to living people, should include reliable sources or it will be removed. -- LuK3 (Talk) 19:02, 17 March 2022 (UTC)

Hiya, six months semi seems a little excessive. Obviously someone has a lot of time on their hands, but I only set the pending changes an hour ago. They usually get bored or run out of IPs well before six months. Best, HJ Mitchell | Penny for your thoughts? 21:26, 18 March 2022 (UTC)

Hi HJ Mitchell, thanks for the note. I did 6 months due to the long protection history. This LTA tends to create new accounts so semi-protection is usually warranted. Having said that, I don't mind if you reduce the semi-protection or downgrade it to PC protection. -- LuK3 (Talk) 21:29, 18 March 2022 (UTC)
... except you set it to full protection ... I've downgraded it to semi. For high-profile articles like this, I'd favour permanent semi, but that's just me ... Graham87 03:36, 19 March 2022 (UTC)
Graham87, thanks for correcting that, I appreciate it. -- LuK3 (Talk) 12:43, 19 March 2022 (UTC)

Changes on Lee Taemin page

Why are my changes reverted? The photos are not copyrighted and are appropriate unlike current one. There is no problem with my changes yet they are reverted and i got a warning about being block? Are you kidding me? — Preceding unsigned comment added by Forshinee (talkcontribs) 15:20, 22 March 2022 (UTC)

Forshinee, there was consensus before your edits to use that image, according to Talk:Lee Tae-min#Profile Photo. You are edit warring in your continuous change of the infobox image which you can get blocked for. Use the article talk page to discuss potential changes, not continue to revert and edit war. -- LuK3 (Talk) 15:44, 22 March 2022 (UTC)
okay. thank you finally i got information how can i ask for changes instead of just deleting mine! Forshinee (talk) 16:29, 22 March 2022 (UTC)

Unprotection page

@Luk3: Can you unprotect this page to autoconfirmed user Susovan Sonu Roy, I want to edit this page. 117.226.160.32 (talk) 10:31, 29 March 2022 (UTC)

IP editor, it looks like that article was protected due to persistent block evasion. Perhaps Ohnoitsjamie, who placed the protection, could provide more information. -- LuK3 (Talk) 11:38, 29 March 2022 (UTC)
Yes, protected due to long-term attempts at promotion of a person not deemed to be notable at this time. If that person becomes notable, a trusted editor could submit the subject to articles for creation; if it was accepted, the protection would be removed. (in Columbo voice): Oh, and one more thing; it's pretty obvious that you are the LTA editor, so your partial block has been expanded to a full one. OhNoitsJamie Talk 14:07, 29 March 2022 (UTC)

Hi LuK3, you blocked User:Pcexpressjv for their continued insertion of unsourced content on Cristina Possas and failure to respond to warnings, and a brand new user immediately showed up to make the exact same edits. New administrator activity requirement

The administrator policy has been updated with new activity requirements following a successful Request for Comment.

Beginning January 1, 2023, administrators who meet one or both of the following criteria may be desysopped for inactivity if they have:

  1. Made neither edits nor administrative actions for at least a 12-month period OR
  2. Made fewer than 100 edits over a 60-month period

Administrators at risk for being desysopped under these criteria will continue to be notified ahead of time. Thank you for your continued work.

May I get talk page privileges restored for two hours on User talk:Carletteyt

Let's see if they're serious. (I almost did a spit-take on my keyboard when I saw your Costco bears. Sorry for not visiting before.) BusterD (talk) 14:07, 1 May 2022 (UTC)

BusterD, not sure if I pinged you but you can restore talk page access. However if they do continue any disruptive editing, I (or another administrator) will revoke it again. I hope the Costco bears gave you a warm welcome :). -- LuK3 (Talk) 16:13, 1 May 2022 (UTC)
A little anticipation worked out. They have little self-control but just when I'm ready to roll it up, they say something endearing. I'm going to keep at it and give them another week to think about it. The writing itself is cathartic. BusterD (talk) 18:58, 1 May 2022 (UTC)
I am restoring talk page privileges permanently as of today after our mentoring session. I will monitor the situation and shut it down if it gets disruptive. If they can last a week with these privileges I'm going to ask for restoration of Userspace editing privileges so we can work in sandbox space prior to reentering draftspace. Their attitude is good but their willingness seems to indicate a less than fully mature approach to what we're doing. That may ultimately prove the tipping point. New Page Patrol newsletter May 2022

New Page Review queue March 2022

Hello LuK3,

At the time of the last newsletter (No.26, September 2021), the backlog was 'only' just over 6,000 articles. In the past six months, the backlog has reached nearly 16,000, a staggering level not seen in several years. A very small number of users had been doing the vast majority of the reviews. Due to "burn-out", we have recently lost most of this effort. Furthermore, several reviewers have been stripped of the user right for abuse of privilege and the articles they patrolled were put back in the queue.

Several discussions on the state of the process have taken place on the talk page, but there has been no action to make any changes. The project also lacks coordination since the "position" is vacant.

In the last 30 days, only 100 reviewers have made more than 8 patrols and only 50 have averaged one review a day. There are currently 818 New Page Reviewers, but about a third have not had any activity in the past month. All 859 administrators have this permission, but only about a dozen significantly contribute to NPP.

This means we have an active pool of about 450 to address the backlog. We cannot rely on a few to do most of the work as that inevitably leads to burnout. A fairly experienced reviewer can usually do a review in a few minutes. If every active reviewer would patrol just one article per day, the backlog would very quickly disappear.

If you have noticed a user with a good understanding of Wikipedia notability and deletion, do suggest they help the effort by placing {{subst:NPR invite}} on their talk page.

If you are no longer very active on Wikipedia or you no longer wish to be part of the New Page Reviewer user group, please consider asking any admin to remove you from the list. This will enable NPP to have a better overview of its performance and what improvements need to be made to the process and its software.

To opt-out of future mailings, please remove yourself here.

Happy First Edit Day!

Hello, LuK3,

This article might need longer protection. There is an IP vandal, who originally was always from Louisville, KY, who posted this exact same nonsense on random male celebrities' articles and even some on bios of U.S. Presidents from the 19th century. They have different vandalistic content for female celebrities that involves sexual violence. Any way, it looks like they have relocated, at least temporarily, to Louisiana but they are devoted to their same warnings about famous men who are "monsters" and ravish young women. You think they'd get bored and move on but we are not so lucky.

I hope you are having a good weekend in spite of the clean up work. Liz Read! Talk! 22:34, 11 June 2022 (UTC)

I see that you blocked several different sockpuppets of this guy so you are familiar with this LTA. But I'll leave this message here any way, just pay attention to the last sentence then! Liz Read! Talk! 22:42, 11 June 2022 (UTC)
Hi Liz, thanks for the note. I'm fine with any change to the article protection that you deem appropriate. I'm basically playing whack-a-mole at this point with them bouncing around to different articles. Thanks again. -- LuK3 (Talk) 23:39, 11 June 2022 (UTC)
And they returned, almost to the minute, when the protection expired. Typically, they just move on to a different article but they have it in for Travolta. Currently, the article is now protected for a month. Their current IP geolocates to Atlanta, GA so they might be on a trip. I wish they would just forget about us for a while. You would think these trolls would get bored and find new hobbies, but, alas, no. Liz Read! Talk! 23:31, 15 June 2022 (UTC)
Liz, thanks for that. They also have an infatuation with one of the Founding Fathers. I would definitely keep an eye out for those types of articles. -- LuK3 (Talk) 23:51, 15 June 2022 (UTC)

Big problem

Hi, there is a page but it is called "Hans & Gretel". But the correct name should be Hamster instead of Hans. I did this because the name was vandalised to say the N-word. I moved it to "Hans & Gretel". But it should be "Hamster & Gretel.". I tried to do that but I can't move it anymore. Please resolve this, Bigeshjen (talk) 11:55, 16 June 2022 (UTC)Bigeshjen

Bigeshjen, I believe the redirect mess has been fixed. -- LuK3 (Talk) 11:58, 16 June 2022 (UTC)
Yes, I just fixed it. Have a nice day! Bigeshjen (talk) 11:59, 16 June 2022 (UTC)
