Assignment 2

You should be able to do a lot more with this fungus. Say something about its phylogenetic position. Is there anything useful in any of these references: ISBN 9781908230256, ISBN 0444874682, ISBN 027100293X, ISBN 0271003499, ISBN 0471827320, ISBN 851980465. Please make sure that you use italics for genus and species names. I'd prefer you to use the referencing procedure I outlined on the course wiki page rather than in-line referencing. This approach makes the source much clearer for editing and it also makes it easier to avoid duplication when shifting references around in the body of the article. Assignment 3- Comments

Hey Lorena so far you've covered all the major points on your species you just need to expand on them. I found this article "Mycotoxin production by Fusarium oxysporum and Fusarium sporotrichioides isolated from Baccharis spp. from Brazil" that covers in detail the production of mycotoxin T-2 as well as other ones it produces. I also found this book to expand on your points about how to identify the fungus and what media it grows best on called "The Fusarium Laboratory Manual." Comments regarding article progression

You've covered a significant portion of the facts pertaining to the development and metabolic activity related to your species. As noted above, expanding on these would greatly help your article as you write it and give a more natural progression between topics. Specific things I would consider adding would be the following:

· Expanding more thoroughly on the pathology of the fungus' infections. One case that I've found is an example of an ulcerative dermatitis in which the dog was unresponsive to antifungal treatments (DOI: 10.3019/13693786.2010.525757). This article also has a characterization of the morphological details of the macro and microconidia that I think would compliment your article well

· Go into more detail about the metabolites produced by your species. The vast majority of articles seem to focus on those so I don't imagine you'll go wanting for information. A good start would be this article (DOI: 10.1016/j.toxicon.2010.01.005) in which the production of a particularly toxic metabolite, T-2, is directly correlated to the glucose metabolism in the fungus. You mention T-2 in your preliminary points so this seems to fit well into your article.

· Lastly, you might want to go into more detail into the ecological placement of your species. In particular, it has an evolutionary history of mutualism with Arabidopsis thaliana as can be seen through a proteomic analysis of innoculated A. thaliana (DOI: 10.1186.1477-5956-10-61)
