Hello LindayH,
while I agree that the = at the beginning of the row looked strange, I think that they actually provided additional information, showing that the name following was a synonym (I'm just checking that assumption and will try to find a better solution for that list I imported from List of rose diseases). Your clean-up therefore changes the meaning - but probably only for those who come up with the idea that synonyms are meant... ;->
Best wishes, Anna reg (talk) 06:58, 12 August 2014 (UTC)[reply]

Hi Anna reg. It's not so much that they looked strange ~ though i think they were unnecessary ~ as that a single equals sign at the beginning of a line is interpreted by the wiki software as a heading, so it then looks for another one at the end of the line. Thus we shouldn't be using them in quite that way.
That said, i think the page looks all right without them, and that the two different species names are synonyms (unlikely, surely) or cause the same symptoms is clear as it is now. Cheers, LindsayHello 06:25, 13 August 2014 (UTC)[reply]

Hi LindsayH,
I see that you dropped a few friendly messages on the talkpage at User talk:1.43.27.80#Your reverts edits. I have too, without much result.
They have again been adding unsourced or poorly sourced info to pages, including ignoring an apparently reliable source and using uncited info on a persons (Arthur Stace) ‎ WP bio page as a source to add them to Balmain, New South Wales as being born there. My comments at WP:Australian Wikipedians' notice board#Arthur Stace birthplace etc may be of interest. Regards, ₫220 of Borg 14:04, 21 December 2014 (UTC)[reply]

Hey. This is Jaywubba1887. My apologies for the editing errors. I have been using the Wikipedia mobile app and for some reason when I edit some articles, the app, once it saves and processes my edits, will delete large sections of the article by itself. I have no intention of deleting the sections and will edit on the full version of Wikipedia from now on, so this won't happen again. I feel like it is a code error or something on the app version of Wikipedia. Additionally, I'll be more specific with the edit summaries on the regular version of Wikipedia from now on. Sorry again for everything. Jay (talk) 00:32, 28 February 2015 (UTC)[reply]

Ameraucana page[edit]

Lindsay, I hope you get this message, Im a little confused with wiki message system.

Concerning the Ameraucana page. I did put verifiable information and I did cite it. The history portion of the page was taken from the Ameraucana breeders club history section, it was written by one of the "actual creators" of the breed. Since the Ameraucana breed has been around for only 30 years. Most if not all of the handful creators of the breed are still alive, most are current members of the Ameruacana breeders club.

There is not a breed of fowl that has been so misrepresented as the Ameraucana breed. Putting actual, verifiable, and accurate information is crucial to help the breed. Educating people because a chicken looks like an Ameruacana doesnt mean its an Ameraucana. There is still a lot of inaccurate information on the page, and Ive seen the sources of that information and they are wrong according to what the "actual creators" of the Ameraucana say. And they have posted their information online.

I mean come on, there can be no higher verifiable source then the people who actually created the breed. Unlike other breeds that were created 100-200 years ago, We are fortunate enough to have the creators of the Ameraucana breed still alive today, and we can get the absolute verifiable truth. I believe the information given by the "actual creators" of the breed should bare more weight than some website that describes the Ameraucana in their image. I will edit the page again and I will cite every sentence if I have to so it doesn't get deleted.

I will do what you say and put verifiable truth

Thank you for letting me know what type of information is required on a wiki page. — Preceding unsigned comment added by Csr326 (talkcontribs) 18:14, 15 March 2015 (UTC)[reply]

Hi, Csr326 ~ guess what? I got your message! Once you're used to it, the wiki system of talk pages is pretty intuitive ~ talk about the article on the article's talk page, ask questions or other communication with other editors on your talk page or theirs. So, well done.
One of the biggest problems that Wikipedia (we often abbreviate it WP around here, just so you know) has, at least in mine opinion, is that we use what might be called wiki-ghetto language. What i mean is that we say things that you might think mean one thing but actually they mean something else, something specialised to WP. Verifiable and verifiability are two words we use that way. If you look at this page it will tell you about what we mean. Essentially, what we're saying is that everything we write must be accessible by other people, readers of the encyclopeadia, should they have the ability and access. What it boils down to is that what we say must have been published somewhere that it can be looked up ~ books, magazines, on-line, other media ~ in other words, we are republishers, in a way, of what is already out there.
What this means, in the case of Ameraucana in the particular, is that the recollections of the creators of the breed are useless for our purpose, unless they have been published elsewhere and, ideally, recognised as reliable and accurate. To pick an example of silliness, it's no good me writing in the article about my brother-in-law that he was ill at a certain point and that's why he did what he did, if i base it simply on his having told me so. That would be what we call WP:OR ~ Original Research ~ which we do not do; it is contrary to the aims of the encyclopaedia.
I hope that this helps. If you have any further questions, please ask. As it happens, i am shortly going off-line, but i will look back in over the next days and see, and i'll take a look at the article too, to see how that's going and if i can help out. Hey, thanks for caring. Cheers, LindsayHello 20:11, 15 March 2015 (UTC)[reply]

Please see Draft talk:Arthur Irawan. The article should link to a website that shows he has taken the field for a fully professional team. Until then, we should go by the verdict of the last AfD, from September 2012. Thanks, EdJohnston (talk) 04:41, 5 April 2015 (UTC)[reply]

How we can buit pages about Romania regions when Hungarians delete all content ?[edit]

I wrote known facts, i given refences, all are reverted by Borsoka and romanian nationalists. I i wrote Crisana was a romanian region too, that Hungarian is reverting all, if i wrote Oltenia was taken from Hungary by Wallachia the romanian nationalist are reverting ? I am done with that page, what is wrong with wikipedia? There are no administrators, because that guy is sending me rules to read that he breaks , i made him idiot, i hope they ban me to save me from his hate and stupidity. COI work[edit]

Hi - I saw your post at the ANI thread that I generated about Elvey, that you had read everything and gone down some rabbit holes too. I am very aware that each of us walks around locked in our own heads, and have been looking for feedback on my COI work. I know I have made some mistakes and can come across too stridently at times, but what concerns me the most are the things I don't know that I don't know. So while your review is fresh, if you have any impressions or feedback you would like to give me, I would be open to hearing them. If not, that is of course fine too. (I'm asking a few other people who have gotten involved in that thread as well) Thanks. Jytdog (talk) 14:21, 29 July 2015 (UTC)[reply]

Hi, Jytdog; my apologies, i had no intention of giving this a week before i replied. I have seen you around a few places, and on AN and ANI a time or two as well. I am not sure that i can add anything to your own self-knowledge as you express it above. I suppose, when i see your name, my thought would be along the lines of, "A bit pushy or strident, wants his own way, considers he is right more frequently than he should." By the last phrase, i don't mean that you are wrong but, as an illustration, there are one or more users who arrive at the drama boards on occasion with the basic message "i say this person is a sock, you need to block them because i say so; trust me", to which my untyped-out reply is "no, i don't trust you, you are five or six letters or numbers on a screen". On the other hand, as i look at what you do, you work in far more contentious places than i; perhaps you need that sort of temperament to succeed there; you can easily see i am gnomic and don't get into conflict because people don't ~ much ~ fight over comma faults and correct wlinks. Once i give it some thought, as i have done, i don't see any issue with you or your editing that you are not aware of and more than likely working on yourself. Again, sorry for the delay, though i've not had much to add; see you around! Cheers, LindsayHello 09:16, 7 August 2015 (UTC)[reply]

Thanks for your editing. In Cat Anatomy, the title of "Mouth" was instead "Moutdkkdkh" which I think my daughter may have accidentally changed; so I then it changed back. Hello, Manchester9. Thanks for your message. I see that one of the three IPs i reverted was actually putting the article back to how it should have been; if that was you, undoing what your daughter did, thank you for it ~ and i apologise for the unuseful editing message i left you. Hi OmWeegeetime. You are right, i see that you have changed South Korea to the other. If i may, i'd like to suggest you learn to use (make a habit of using) an edit summary ~ this link has some information about them ~ with every edit you make, that gives people the opportunity to see what you have done and why; i had to look at quite a few of your edits to see why some of them were done, and i then did not revert them, but other editors may not bother looking. If i can help, please feel free to ask. Cheers, LindsayHello 13:24, 16 August 2015 (UTC)[reply]

Reference Dog Food Selector in: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Dog_food[edit]

Dear Lindsay,

I am writing to enquire you about the reasons to ban the reference to Dog Food Selector (http://dogfoodselector.com/) in the Wikipedia article about Dog food. I would like to know why do you think it isn't a reliable source. I'm a DVM and I write articles for this web page. I was only adding well founded information to Wikipedia with a valid source. So, if you point me the reasons that lead you to delete the reference I would thank you very much.

I look forward to hearing from you.

Best regards.

--Dora Mancha DVM 17:49, 2 November 2015 (UTC) — Preceding unsigned comment added by Dora Mancha Vet (talkcontribs)

Hi Dora Mancha Vet. I have looked back at the edit i made, and i see that i wasn't banning the site (apart from anything else, i don't have the power to do that; i am, like yourself, a simple editor with no extra abilities); what i actually did was remove the reference template you had added because it was very incomplete and did not give the reference. If you look at the diff, which shows what i did, here, you can see that the only information was the reference name (Dog Food Selector), but there was no link to the website (url=) or title (title=) or any of the other parameters. To make that template work as a reference, it would need to look like this:
<ref name="Selector">{{cite web|url=www.somewebsite.com|title=Dogfood Selector|accessdate=1 November, 2015}}</ref>.
I could not do that, as i didn't know the website or any other information. Feel free to add it back; if it passes as a good reference, i'm sure no one will take it out. Thanks, and cheers, LindsayHello 08:51, 3 November 2015 (UTC)[reply]

Malan page[edit]

Hi Lindsay, thanks for the note about removing that speedy delete on Malan Musings. I'd noted on the main page for the person there was a section talking about it & it seemed odd to have a whole page just for that column. I was actually planning to reach out for some help since then, since it turns out there's a single account that does nothing but create & edit pages about Malan. Not only his main but several now for each separate project he does, including one on a vanity autobio movie. This is one area of Wikipedia I'm not familiar with, if you could give me some guidance on where I can look in to bringing some attention in to what appears to be a personal account designed to create multiple pages to publicize someone that'd be great. If not I'll work it out, and thanks for reaching out.  :) JamesG5 (talk) 09:04, 15 November 2015 (UTC)[reply]

Hi JamesG5; i would suggest that you ask that user ~ i had noticed that he edited the page about Malan himself as well, but not anything else ~ if he has a conflict of interest, and point him to WP:COI, if he's not sure or refuses to answer. In addition, if you weren't aware of it, that is a good place to go for advice, as is WP:COIN. To be fair, i think it's almost certain that someone editing Malan Breton has a COI since, to my eyes at least, it appears to be a big vanity project page. If you want to WP:PROD or WP:AFD Malan's Musings for notability and peacockery i certainly wouldn't protest the action; it was simply the speedy i didn't think it met. So, other than that, thanks for replying; please ask if i can help in any other way, and i daresay we'll bump into each other again; cheers, LindsayHello 09:12, 15 November 2015 (UTC)[reply]
