ANI discussion closed[edit]

Hi Lightburst, I hope you are enjoying your wikibreak despite the stress I'm sure you've been feeling during the ANI discussion. While I don't bring good news, hopefully the finality removes some of the stress. To get to the point, I've closed the ANI discussion which has resulted in a 6 month ban from "deletion-related" discussions which you can appeal after 3 months. There's a more rigorous definition there, but in general you may not participate at AFD or any other XFD page, deletion review, or any proposed deletions. Many editors pointed out that they appreciate your work improving articles, and hopefully that continues if you decide to return; I made clear that the ban should not prevent you from doing that. Arbitration request declined[edit]

An arbitration request that you are party to, Conduct in Articles for Deletion, has been declined by the Arbitration Committee. The arbitrators felt that the community had made progress toward resolving the dispute in the recently-closed ANI thread, making arbitration unnecessary at this time. Your recent edits[edit]

Hi, I've reverted your recent edits to Soliloquy and Wagon fort per WP:NOTDICT. We are an encyclopedia, and not a dictionary; dictionary-type information belongs at Wiktionary. Thanks for bearing that in mind. Sandstein 11:24, 6 November 2021 (UTC)[reply]

@Sandstein: I am not sure I agree that the terms may only have a singular meaning. Did you see my edits on Feeding Frenzy? Idiom and phenomena. Should I start a separate article for Circle the wagons? It is redirected t0 Wagon Fort but not defined. Lightburst (talk) 12:47, 6 November 2021 (UTC)[reply]
If there is encyclopedic content for an article on "Circle the Wagons" that goes beyond dictionary-type content such as definition, usage examples or etymology, an article may be warranted if the topic is notable. Otherwise the redirect might be brought up for discussion at WP:RFD. Sandstein 12:50, 6 November 2021 (UTC)[reply]
@Sandstein:. Thanks, but also the other term only allows for the use of Soliloquy in drama? It did seem to me that it has more uses historically. For instance a news Search produces dozens of news articles about judges engaging in Soliloquies in open court. Lightburst (talk) 12:53, 6 November 2021 (UTC)[reply]
@Sandstein: I am not sure why you reverted items on that Soliloquy page. Regarding the photo, you decided that you do not like it? It was actually drama related and perfect for the article? Perhaps a talk page discussion was warranted? And you deleted Lemma (morphology) and edit summary said it was math related? But that is not what morphology is about. Perhaps you are thinking of something else. Regarding Soliloquy as a noun, yes you are correct that it is a noun I am not sure what happened there. I hope you will consider not reverting my additions without consideration in the future. Lightburst (talk) 13:25, 6 November 2021 (UTC)[reply]
Here you added Category:Lemmas, which is about mathematics. I'm not sure what even the lexicographical term "lemma" has to do with this article, but I've raised that on the talk page. I would ask you to be more careful when adding content. Sandstein 14:53, 6 November 2021 (UTC)[reply]
As to non-dramatic uses of "soliloquy", additional meanings of a word are dictionary content and belong on Wiktionary. If there is sourced encyclopedic content about soliloquys outside of drama, that can well be added to the article, but merely writing "there are also judges who give soliloquys" isn't the most enlightening piece of content. Sandstein 14:56, 6 November 2021 (UTC)[reply]
@Sandstein: That is not really how I see the content here. As it is Soliloquy is a narowlly defined on the article as drama related. Moving to article talk page now. I should also add, my example regarding judges was just to illustrate another use. Not that I thought it was to be put in the encyclopedia. Lightburst (talk) 15:43, 6 November 2021 (UTC)[reply]

Continuing our discussion[edit]

Hi Lightburst. Continuing our discussion from here, I'm concerned that you may misunderstand the nature of the restrictions you are under, albeit, as I said before, that you are doing so entirely in good faith. It seems to me that you are, in fact, not permitted to post about articles for rescue consideration at ARS. (Part of the closing statement: This does prohibit Lightburst from notifying ARS members of deletion discussions as it is "deletion-related".) Of course, maybe I'm the one who is wrong, as you think. But in order to avoid any misunderstanding, I'm pinging Wugapodes, who will know for sure. --Tryptofish (talk) 19:15, 6 November 2021 (UTC)[reply]

@Stefan2: Hi, I have a TBAN regarding all deletion so I cannot go to the discussion. You can check, I have updated the FUR and License, I was not the person who put it on commons, so deletion there is probably appropriate. Thanks! Lightburst (talk) 23:25, 10 November 2021 (UTC)[reply]

ANI[edit]

You wrote, "I will leave you to it. Lets all go back to main space now.", but were back at ANI within the hour. So I have to tell you - stay away from ANI. Let consensus play out and do something else, otherwise there may have to be a block. Ritchie333 (talk) (cont) 10:55, 13 November 2021 (UTC)[reply]

User:Ritchie333 Thanks, I am out of there. Check my edits. Lightburst (talk) 14:10, 13 November 2021 (UTC)[reply]

The press[edit]

Hi @Lightburst: I'm sorry if I offended you, but honestly I wouldn't bother about it. I know that you have been getting a hard time in the last weeks, and leaves quite a bitter taste but it passes. It can get to you sometimes, I know from experience. I was blocked once for calling an editor a really bad word. All they did was sent several article to Afd and went off the deep end. He didn't deserve it really and once it was up an Ani, they all piled on. It was like town hall meeting. But it passes, in two weeks time most folk remember or care. I've discovered they're seems to be an expectation that you'll fall foul of it, somehow, somewhere and you'll get castigated or worse. You go through the press, your flattened a wee bit, your wringled a wee bit but it passes. So hang there. I've still plenty of time for you and you'll find that everybody has. Plenty. scope_creepTalk 15:27, 17 November 2021 (UTC)[reply]

Regarding that article, fight for it. scope_creepTalk 15:27, 17 November 2021 (UTC)[reply]
User:scope_creep Thanks, I saw where you came from and I think it was rather speedy and unnecessary. No more needs to be said about this. Lightburst (talk) 15:46, 17 November 2021 (UTC)[reply]

Greg Koch albums[edit]

Lightburst, I don't think any of Greg Koch's albums merit a standalone article. I would like to redirect them to the main article, but I don't want to antagonize you so I am going to ask before I do it. Is this ok with you, or do I need to start AfDs for them? Ping[edit]

Hi - I received your ping, but saw that you removed the comment so I don't intend to read through that discussion (and/or the other lengthy discussions referenced) to see whether I have anything useful to add. If you genuinely want my thoughts on what constitutes a personal attack, and whether/how context is relevant, I'm open to a discussion about it - but I'm in snowed under at work at the moment (the run up to Christmas is a purgatory of parents' evenings and report-writing), so it may be a slow-moving discussion.
