Hello, Lemieuxpilon4dart. I wanted to let you know that I’m proposing an article that you started, Michel Lemieux, for deletion because it's a biography of a living person that lacks references. If you don't want Michel Lemieux to be deleted, please add a reference to the article.

If you don't understand this message, you can leave a note on my talk page.

Thanks, Wgolf (talk) 18:19, 23 September 2014 (UTC)[reply]

Hello Wgolf,

Thanks for your input but we're a small theatre company. We write our own text, what kind of reference do you need?

Thanks!

Valérie

References[edit]

I see from your question at the Help desk that you need information about references. Start off (having read the links in the welcome message above) by looking at WP:Referencing for beginners. One important sentence in that document is "A citation to a reference must verify the statement in the text." When you understand what Wikipedia means by verification, you need to look for published reliable sources independent of the subject, to verify the statements in the text of your article. --David Biddulph (talk) 16:04, 25 September 2014 (UTC)[reply]

The article Victor Pilon has been proposed for deletion because it appears to have no references. Under Wikipedia policy, this newly created biography of a living person will be deleted unless it has at least one reference to a reliable source that directly supports material in the article.

If you created the article, please don't be offended. Instead, consider improving the article. For help on inserting references, see Referencing for beginners, or ask at the help desk. Once you have provided at least one reliable source, you may remove the {{prod blp}} tag. Please do not remove the tag unless the article is sourced. If you cannot provide such a source within seven days, the article may be deleted, but you can request that it be undeleted when you are ready to add one. Please understand that it's new to me and that it's not easy at all! I had absolutely no problem when I wrote my page in the french wikipedia, and a biography of an artist is not appropriate at all! (70.53.158.185 (talk) 20:34, 6 October 2014 (UTC))[reply]

Your article was inappropriately written to begin with, never mind that it was a completely unsourced biography (which are not allowed). Each Wikipedia project has its policies and guidelines - we don't abide by what can or cannot be done in the French Wikipedia. You might want to try Articles for Creation instead, where you can create a draft and submit it for review. §FreeRangeFrogcroak 20:40, 6 October 2014 (UTC)[reply]

The tip about Articles for Creation is very helpful, thank you! I will do that!(70.53.158.185 (talk) 20:47, 6 October 2014 (UTC)).[reply]

Your account has been blocked indefinitely from editing Wikipedia because it appears to be mainly intended for publicity and/or promotional purposes. If you intend to edit constructively in other topic areas, you may be granted the right to continue under a change of username. Please read the following carefully.
Why can't I edit Wikipedia?

Your account's edits and/or username indicate that it is being used on behalf of a company, group, website or organization for purposes of promotion and/or publicity. The edits may have violated one or more of our rules on spamming, which include: adding inappropriate external links, posting advertisements and using Wikipedia for promotion. Wikipedia has many articles on companies, groups, and organizations, but such groups are generally discouraged from using Wikipedia to write about themselves. In addition, usernames like yours are disallowed under our username policy.

Am I allowed to make these edits if I change my username?

Probably not, although if you can demonstrate a pattern of future editing in strict accordance with our neutral point of view policy, you may be granted this right. See Wikipedia's FAQ for Organizations for a helpful list of frequently asked questions by people in your position. Also, review the conflict of interest guidance to see the kinds of limitations you would have to obey if you did want to continue editing about your company, group, organization, or clients. If this does not fit in with your goals, then you will not be allowed to edit Wikipedia again.

What can I do now?

If you have no interest in writing about some other topic than your organization, group, company, or product, you may consider using one of the many websites that allow this instead.

If you do intend to make useful contributions here about some other topic, you must convince a Wikipedia administrator that you mean it. To that end, please do the following:

  • Add the text {{unblock-spamun|Your proposed new username|Your reason here}} on your user talk page.
  • Replace the text "Your proposed new username" with a new username you are willing to use. See Special:Listusers to search for available usernames. Your new username will need to meet our username policy.
  • Replace the text "Your reason here" with your reason to be unblocked. In this reason, you must:
    • Convince us that you understand the reason for your block and that you will not repeat the edits for which you were blocked.
    • Describe in general terms the contributions that you intend to make if you are unblocked.
If you believe this block was made in error, you may appeal this block by adding the text {{unblock|Your reason here}} below, but you should read the guide to appealing blocks first. Randykitty (talk) 09:43, 29 January 2015 (UTC)[reply]

You may want to consider using the Article Wizard to help you create articles.

A tag has been placed on Victor Pilon, requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under section G11 of the criteria for speedy deletion, because the page seems to be unambiguous advertising which only promotes a company, product, group, service or person and would need to be fundamentally rewritten in order to become encyclopedic. Please read the guidelines on spam and Wikipedia:FAQ/Organizations for more information.

If you think this page should not be deleted for this reason, you may contest the nomination by visiting the page and clicking the button labelled "Click here to contest this speedy deletion". This will give you the opportunity to explain why you believe the page should not be deleted. However, be aware that once a page is tagged for speedy deletion, it may be removed without delay. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag from the page yourself, but do not hesitate to add information in line with Wikipedia's policies and guidelines. If the page is deleted, and you wish to retrieve the deleted material for future reference or improvement, then please contact the deleting administrator, or if you have already done so, you can place a request here.
