Madonna awards

Hi. I ajusted the text in the intro around some so I think it reads better now. As for the all the lists I would try to make them all a uniform width so that the article has a nice, tidy appearance. Also, all the list have their second column titled "Nominated work" when in fact it's often not a work but Madonna herself who is being nominated. It seems a bit odd to me to refer to her as a "work". I suggest that you change these column heading to "Nominated artist" if only she is the nominee and "Nominated work or artist" if it's either her or one of her songs/albums/whatever being nominated. "Nominated work" should therefore be used only for lists where only albums/songs/whatever are the nominees. As for the sources, I haven't check those for accuracy so I'll leave that for some one else. Other than these suggestions the article looks pretty good to me. Jimknut (talk) 01:18, 28 June 2011 (UTC)

The article looks much better now. If you can drum up some other reviewers to give it the "once over" and get their support I'll offer mine as well. Jimknut (talk) 00:58, 30 June 2011 (UTC)
Will surely do that Jim. — Legolas (talk2me) 05:10, 30 June 2011 (UTC)

RE:Meat dress of Lady Gaga

Hi there, you were quite right and I've expanded the lead as per your suggestion. Thanks, and if you can see any other issues with the article, please let me know as that way I can put it right before it gets to being reviewed. Thanks again! Miyagawa (talk) 19:05, 29 June 2011 (UTC)

Some helpful info on W.E

List

I think the List of Australian inventions isnt as far away from FL as you claim. It appears to only be a matter of style, not substance. Even Adabow has only advised changing the lead, an adjustment in the bolding, and a cleanup of the citation style. Your reccomendation to look at 'other FLs on he same subject' isnt easy, because there are few. The one that I looked at the closest before submitting was the only one that combines science and history in the Timeline of Chemistry, which uses a bolded year on each line, similar to the Australian inventions list which has the year in regular, then the item bolded. The citations have a very similar style. Most importantly the Chemistry list doesnt use a table, giving it a similar look to the Australian inventions list, which showed me that its not compulsory to have a table style list for it to be considered an FL. The Australian inventions list doesnt have an extensive peer review, but that isnt compulsory either - its not even mentioned in the FL criteria. Your comments state that a few style issues and a peer review are the only things holding it back - so can you explain how such minor adjustments are 'not even close?' Rahul Dravid

Hi, came to know about your work with Sourav Ganguly pretty recently. Shall we work on Rahul Dravid. --Commander (Ping Me) 10:05, 30 June 2011 (UTC)

Thanks for the offer, but I'm sorry, I really don't like him as a player. Actually that's polite, I strongly hate this man. — Legolas (talk2me) 11:49, 30 June 2011 (UTC)
Thanks for being polite :) --Commander (Ping Me) 14:10, 30 June 2011 (UTC)

I'm back y'all!!!

I'm back!! Yes, I am! Woo, I missed you guys sooo much!! It's so great to be back :) I went through a lot of "real life" troubles these two weeks, and I'm happy everything's sorted out :) Well, I saw your query Avi, and I searched the web and found a few sources. Keyboard Magazine had some great articles regarding Madonna's Ray of Light and Lady Gaga, unfortunately the links are dead now :( I got my hands on the google cached version, and you know what to do with them ;) Here they are: [1] (original link: [2]), [3] (orig: [4]), [5] (o: [6]), [7] (o: [8]). Here are a few other links: [9] and [10] (something about Madge's tour). Btw, I love Kathy Beth Terry :P I also love Brit's new video (yeah, I watched both of 'em a few minutes ago lol). How are you?? Novice7 (talk) 11:03, 30 June 2011 (UTC)

Oh thank goodness, you're alive! I was scared for you. I even tried searching you on Facebook. And I can't thank enough that you remembered my post and found such wonderful urls. Yes I love these two videos so much. I'm doing fine, just busy with this and other GAs. Life is blooming too. — Legolas (talk2me) 11:25, 30 June 2011 (UTC)
I'm alive, yes!! Actually, I had a Facebook profile like a year ago, but I deleted it. I'll soon start a new one, and I'll let you know when I'm done :) The links, well, no problem :) This is the least I can do to help you :) Glad to know you're doing well too. Novice7 (talk) 11:36, 30 June 2011 (UTC)
Oh Facebook is so in to even keep in touch with retired Wikipedians. The reason of my concern with you was because I found out that one of my wiki-friend, who wasn't editing for a long time, has actually passed away. I was beyond shocked on seeing the condolences in his facebook page. So sad. Hope your family problems were resolved and you and your family is doing well now. — Legolas (talk2me) 11:41, 30 June 2011 (UTC)
That's really really sad :( Although I don't know him/her, I feel this pain inside my heart... Yes, they're being sorted out and I'm doing fine :) Novice7 (talk) 11:45, 30 June 2011 (UTC)
So many of my old friends from here have retired, only I am left. God forbid, I don't wanna leave from here. :) Now getchurbooty to facebook and CREATE a profile!! That's your punishment for being absent for so long. — Legolas (talk2me) 11:48, 30 June 2011 (UTC)

Judas

Well done! :) Ofekalef (talk) 16:05, 30 June 2011 (UTC)

I think he means "Well Done for Judas being a GA"... Calvin 999 16:16, 30 June 2011 (UTC)
Oh that one. I thought he was congratulating me for asking semi-protection of the article. I can be so dull sometimes. -__- — Legolas (talk2me) 16:18, 30 June 2011 (UTC)
:) I like Lady Gaga's article's in here, but as you can see my english is not so good, and I especialy translate them to he :) Ofekalef (talk) 16:23, 30 June 2011 (UTC)

Attention LEGOLAS..

If u have so much problem with adding gagadaily then why dont u find any reliable source..... if u dont know how to be polite than dont talk at all..... — Preceding unsigned comment added by Afrazrasheed (talkcontribs) 18:57, 30 June 2011 (UTC)

If you would follow rules and wouldn't keep aimlessly adding unreliable sources, then maybe he wouldn't get upset.--CallMeNathanTalk2Me 19:28, 30 June 2011 (UTC)
Hmm, lets see, if you consider this as being rude to you, then you are deluded my friend. I have been giving you chances to read up policies on reliable sources, but meh, take your call. Oh and the onus lies with you to find a reliable source, not adding a freakin' fansite and expecting others to nose-dive into google. See how that works? — Legolas (talk2me) 04:55, 1 July 2011 (UTC)
"I know you mean well" is very rude, you need to stop be so rude. (NO) Ofekalef (talk) 05:54, 1 July 2011 (UTC)
"I know you mean well" is not at all rude, it means that he knows that you are acting in good faith. Adabow (talk · contribs) 05:57, 1 July 2011 (UTC)
Perhaps both of them being non-English speaking users, are confusing the derivation of the word "mean" in this context? — Legolas (talk2me) 06:58, 1 July 2011 (UTC)
So they are confusing what you mean by "mean"? :P Adabow (talk · contribs) 07:34, 1 July 2011 (UTC)
Yep, I graduated to "mean" boi from "r00d" boi. — Legolas (talk2me) 07:37, 1 July 2011 (UTC)
I think you didn't understand me. I said that you wrote "I know you mean well": that is not rude, and I didn't understand why did he say that. Ofekalef (talk) 06:29, 2 July 2011 (UTC)

WikiCup 2011 June newsletter

We are half way through 2011, and entering the penultimate round of this year's WikiCup; the semi-finals are upon us! Points scored in the interim (29/30 June) may be counted towards next round, but please do not update your submissions' pages until the next round has begun. 16 contestants remain, and all have shown dedication to the project to reach this far. Our round leader was Scotland Casliber (submissions) who, among other things, successfully passed three articles through featured article candidates and claimed an impressive 29 articles at Did You Know, scoring 555 points. Casliber led pool D. Pool A was led by Ohio Wizardman (submissions), claiming points for a featured article, a featured list and seven good article reviews, while pool C was led by Norway Eisfbnore (submissions), who claimed for two good articles, ten articles at Did You Know and four good article reviews. They scored 154 and 118 respectively. Pool B was by far our most competitive pool; six of the eight competitors made it through to round 4, with all of them scoring over 100 points. The pool was led by Zanzibar Hurricanehink (submissions), who claimed for, among other things, three featured articles and five good articles. In addition to the four pool leaders, 12 others (the four second places, and the 8 next highest overall) make up our final 16. The lowest scorer who reached round 4 scored 76 points; a significant increase on the 41 needed to reach round 3. Eight of our semi-finalists scored at least twice as much as this.

No points were awarded this round for featured pictures, good topics or In the News, and no points have been awarded in the whole competition for featured topics, featured portals or featured sounds. Instead, the highest percentage of points has come from good articles. Featured articles, despite their high point cost, are low in number, and so, overall, share a comparable number of points with Did You Know, which are high in number but low in cost. A comparatively small but still considerable number of points come from featured lists and good article reviews, rounding out this round's overall scores.

We would again like to thank United Kingdom Jarry1250 (submissions) and Bavaria Stone (submissions) for invaluable background work, as well as all of those helping to provide reviews for the articles listed on Wikipedia:WikiCup/Reviews. Please do keep using it, and please do help by providing reviews for the articles listed there. However, please remember to continue to offer reviews generally at GAC, FAC and all the other pages that require them to prevent any backlogs which could otherwise be caused by the Cup.

Two final notes: Firstly, please remember to state your participation in the WikiCup when nominating articles at FAC. Finally, some WikiCup-related statistics can be seen here and here, for those interested, though it appears that neither are completely accurate at this time. As ever, questions are welcome on Wikipedia talk:WikiCup and the judges are reachable on their talk pages, or by email. Good luck! If you wish to start receiving or stop receiving this newsletter, please feel free to add or remove yourself from Wikipedia:WikiCup/Newsletter/Send. J Milburn and The ed17 23:35, 30 June 2011 (UTC)

I tried minutes ago. The page won't load for some reason... I should have stuck with Airtel instead of moving to BSNL :( I'll try at night :) Novice7 (talk) 10:29, 1 July 2011 (UTC)
OMG, are you crazy to leave Airtel? BSNL sucks major ass dude! I left it after two months and have used Airtel ever since. — Legolas (talk2me) 10:32, 1 July 2011 (UTC)
Yeah, I went crazy, I guess. My friends suggested BSNL, so I thought I should give it a try :) It's just bad. No customer support, down most of the time etc. Oh well, I should wait till Onam before changing back. Just changed to BSNL three months ago. Novice7 (talk) 10:36, 1 July 2011 (UTC)
I will miss the Onam foods this time since I'm in Calcutta now. We used to go to a Mallu friend of ours and hog there. — Legolas (talk2me) 10:50, 1 July 2011 (UTC)
My favorite time of the year! So much fun, calmness! I can't wait :) Don't worry! You can enjoy Onam after you recover completely. Btw, I was wondering... Do you own a copy of The Billboard Book of Number One Albums?? If so, can you do me a little something? Does the book have information on Nippy's self-titled debut and "How Will I Know"?? Novice7 (talk) 14:05, 1 July 2011 (UTC)
Nah I don't have that one. Frcm1988 actually scanned me the Madonna articles, hence I never felt the need to buy it, lol. Of course the book has information about Nippy's debut album seeing its tremendous success. — Legolas (talk2me) 15:45, 1 July 2011 (UTC)
I will ask Frcm. He seems kinda busy with irl though. Thanks Lego :) Novice7 (talk) 15:57, 1 July 2011 (UTC)
Christopher (bless him) has a wonderful job now. That's why he is busy. Not everybody wastes time at home like me. *sigh, sippin tea again* — Legolas (talk2me) 15:59, 1 July 2011 (UTC)
Wasting time at home? Don't worry bhai :D You'll be at your work soon :) How are you feeling now? I mean, the physiotherapy?? Novice7 (talk) 16:06, 1 July 2011 (UTC)
Ugh, physiotherapy's over, now exercise and exercise. Still walking with the help of a walking stick. Waiting for the day when I can go to a club/disc again. — Legolas (talk2me) 16:22, 1 July 2011 (UTC)
With all the exercise, I'm sure you'll recover soon :) Good night, I'm off to bed (had to get up early today... Feeling sleeeeeepy). Take care :) Novice7 (talk) 16:34, 1 July 2011 (UTC)

Still got that Musicnotes.com deal?

I could do with a bitta help here (verse + chorus CP). I might be overcomplicating it... Adabow (talk · contribs) 10:35, 1 July 2011 (UTC)

Stifle can you please delete the older versions of the above file and re-name it to File:Madonna-Like a Prayer-Music Video.jpg? — Legolas (talk2me) 14:02, 1 July 2011 (UTC)

Charts

Hi, I'm here again :)
I wanted to show you a template we made for charts in singles and albums articles. You can see it in here. Simply: it has all the countries we thout about (there are more we forget, I know), and it shows the top position for songs, and the certifications for it. Maybe you'll want it, and maybe not, but it's nice :) Ofekalef (talk) 12:21, 3 July 2011 (UTC)

You can see example here. Ofekalef (talk) 12:31, 3 July 2011 (UTC)

Calvin 999 20:51, 1 July 2011 (UTC)

Okay, I won't add any more until the current three have been reviewed. I did that instead as people told me I should do a peer review instead of GAN at first because GAN is not for being "thorough" and is only to highlight a few issues, and I didn't want to nominate them just to get failed, I'd rather know what needs doing in detail first. But with S&M, I need a PR for FA as I don't know the criteria specifically. Calvin 999 15:41, 4 July 2011 (UTC)
Me do Peer Reviews?!? I don't think I would be good at giving Peer Reviews, I don't think I am experienced enough. If I am going to do it, I would want to do it well, and I don't think I would at this stage. Calvin 999 15:52, 4 July 2011 (UTC)
I guess I would, but when I have more experience. Calvin 999 15:57, 4 July 2011 (UTC)

BTINH

Yer know, I really hate that no linky thing. I've read the RSN thread several times, and I still don't get it; it was basically one editor's opinion to remove the link because he didn't want to be invited to download software. Anyways, I want to get some sort of guideline passed (a la WP:MUSICNOTES) so that we can get some consistency. Do you think I should open an RFC soon? And nah, Oz added the Brazilian chart. I'll ask him about it. Adabow (talk · contribs) 09:38, 4 July 2011 (UTC)

And yeah, I do agree with him. That's against WP's policy. God knows why Musicnotes have to give that software download thing. They could have had it like a preview like Amazon. I thought WP:MUSICNOTES was based on all of these, no? As for Oz, ask him from where he got it, because I haven't received the Brasilian magazine yet. Is he a native of Brazil? — Legolas (talk2me) 09:45, 4 July 2011 (UTC)
Can you point me to that policy, please? I mean, iTunes Store asks people to download iTunes software. Oops, actually Oz moved the chart up. I'm not sure who added that... can you please verify it when your magazine arrives? Ta. And no, he comes from Oz. (poo! :P) Adabow (talk · contribs) 04:32, 5 July 2011 (UTC)
I thought it was in that discussion. I will take a look, as for Oz, dammit, that was really stupid of me. Yes, I will verify again once my magazine comes. — Legolas (talk2me) 04:34, 5 July 2011 (UTC)

Re:Your opinion

Hey, sorry, I didn't notice your message on my talk page until now. Looking at this revision, the lead does look very long at first glance, but it's a very long article. In case you didn't know, there's some advice here. Perhaps the best judge would be whether there are too many details in the lead- a glance through suggests that it probably does not have. Like a Prayer

It's an impressive looking article. Looking at the media specifically, File:LikeAPrayerSample.ogg could do with a more detailed rationale and, ideally, should be reduced in quality to 64kbps (our line in the sand). File:Madonna Live 8 - 3.jpg could do with a double-checking from an OTRS volunteer with a better grasp of German than I have. The copy-paste rationale at File:Madonna-Like a Prayer-Music Video.jpg is not a good one- this screenshot is very clearly warranted, and you're doing it no favours by giving it a generic rationale. I'm not sure the point of File:Boycott KFC.jpg (it's being protested for a different reason) or File:Pizza Hut Guardia Vieja.jpg (neither in America nor in the iconic PH shape). The rest checks out. Nadia Ali discography

Hey, I've responded to the comments you made and made some corrections you suggested along with some more by the other assessor. Could you please have another look? Hassan514 (talk) 06:11, 1 July 2011 (UTC)

I did have another look much before you had posted here, but I stand by what I said. Its just a minor improvement to a long overhauling process that you need to undergo to make it a FL quality list. — Legolas (talk2me) 06:56, 1 July 2011 (UTC)
Thanks, but I've JUST completed another edit. Referenced everything, standardised things. So it should be much different from what you saw a while back. I'd really appreciate it! Hassan514 (talk) 07:52, 1 July 2011 (UTC)

Heya, sorry to bug you again. Been constantly working on the the discography. Could you please give me some feedback? Thanks! Hassan514 (talk) 13:48, 6 July 2011 (UTC)

Thanks heaps for your feedback, just one question regarding your concerns about the lead. Is one of them regarding using "No. 1", as far as I knew I wasn't meant to do that until another editor told me it's better to use it for chart positions according to MOS:HASH. If that is a concern, please do let me know. Thanks Hassan514 (talk) 15:02, 6 July 2011 (UTC)
That is there, plus I find it to be less in meat. Ali has had pretty much zero success in the album market and singles wise also, nothing has come off that well (I was totally in love with "Rapture" and its Indian remix). Hence you need to spice it up a little. — Legolas (talk2me) 15:05, 6 July 2011 (UTC)
Exactly! She's not a commercial success, more of a club success and most of electronic dance music sources being blogs, they are no way reliable to be put up here. I have had a hard time writing the lead because of that. But that's also what I love about her, she's so underrated. I was just looking at Rihanna's discography earlier and noticed some of her collaborations were mentioned. I could do that with Ali but I was not sure if they are worth mentioning because most have never charted, that's why I just wrote she has collaborated extensively. Could you give me a few pointers on what I could add? Hassan514 (talk) 15:20, 6 July 2011 (UTC)
Yes, I do love her a lot. I saw her live once when she was with iiO. You can start by mentioning the different charts for "Rapture", not just UK and US, also some background of iiO, and of course, the collaborations that charted, have to have a mention. — Legolas (talk2me) 15:26, 6 July 2011 (UTC)
What did you think of her live? I personally felt she hasn't been able to do justice to "Rapture" whenever I've seen her live. How detailed should I go on her time with iiO? I thought of adding that but wasn't sure because this is her discography as a solo artist and all of iiO's singles charted in at least one country. Also, while I'm picking your brain. Do all chart positions need to be referenced in the lead? Since they are mentioned in the article, if i'm not wrong, the lead doesn't need to be referenced entirely? Hassan514 (talk) 15:39, 6 July 2011 (UTC)
Just expanded the lead based on the suggestions you gave Hassan514 (talk) 16:00, 6 July 2011 (UTC)

Can I get your opinion on This Is It (Michael Jackson song)?

About a year ago I did a successful peer review on the article. Since then not much prose has changed. Recently, I've been doing tweaking to the article (mostly reference-related). I would like to nominate the article for A-class very soon but I'm not 100 percent sold on it's prose, if Puerto Rican people should be linked and if the image in the music video section is really needed (but I am confident the references check-out). I'd love to have your input on This Is It as you've made a FA song article from scratch. Be brutal with it =) Crystal Clear x3 05:43, 3 July 2011 (UTC)

Sorry to bug you (again) but, umm, how do you nominate an article for A-class?!? I put the a class=current in the talk page's wikiproject, but there's no link to initiate the nomination..... ? Crystal Clear x3 06:23, 3 July 2011 (UTC)
Only some WikiProjects support A-class (mainly Biog and MilHist). I think you should skip A and go straight to FAC, when you believe it's ready. Adabow (talk · contribs) 06:33, 3 July 2011 (UTC)
Oh, thanks for clearing that up! I guess FAC it is then. Crystal Clear x3 06:39, 3 July 2011 (UTC)
Hey Crystal, Andrew's right, we don;t have anything at present for song articles A-class. And yes of course I will review the article. Where do you want me to put it up? — Legolas (talk2me) 14:48, 3 July 2011 (UTC)
The talk page would be lovely. Crystal Clear x3 21:09, 3 July 2011 (UTC)
If/When you look over the article, could you tell me if the chart performance section "reads like a resume"? The copyediter added that tag. Idk I tried to format it like any other: simply added its chart position/peak on said chart and when, what effect the performance had on the artist - in this case giving MJ his first charting song in 17 years on the H.A.C.T - and even some commentary from a Billboard writer. The editor also said at one point the page was "hard to navigate" =/ Crystal Clear x3 04:27, 6 July 2011 (UTC)
Oh hey Crystal, sorry I hadn't notice your previous post regarding the talk page, hence did not look over it yet. Yes, I will surely take these points into consideration and review it and post it in the talk page. — Legolas (talk2me) 04:32, 6 July 2011 (UTC)
Yeah there was, I think it's still on the talk page. Since Sony said it would be a radio-only single, I assumed that its template shown be for a single, but someone changed it to song and I didn't wanna start a war. I've now changed it back. Crystal Clear x3 06:17, 6 July 2011 (UTC)
I've corrected the infobox. In all of the RS sources I've seen, when mentioning how his brothers got ahold of the tapes, they are referred to simply as "Jackson's brothers". If I brought this to FAC, would some editors argue that it needs clarification? Crystal Clear x3 06:48, 6 July 2011 (UTC)

Figures. If he isn't digging for gold then he's sitting on his ass thinking of ways to. I've never seen such a shameless leech before. Anyways, I just did some googling but couldn't find any articles specifying him as the finder. Crystal Clear x3 07:23, 6 July 2011 (UTC)

Kamal Haasan

I've nominated this for peer review. Your suggestions are most welcome. --Commander (Ping Me) 05:40, 4 July 2011 (UTC)

Yes sure. — Legolas (talk2me) 05:44, 4 July 2011 (UTC)
I've fixed a few issues. Check the peer-review page. --Commander (Ping Me) 12:51, 5 July 2011 (UTC)
Legolas2186, can you just have a look at the peer review. If you are satisfied with the improvements, close the discussion. --Commander (Ping Me) 11:42, 6 July 2011 (UTC)

Gaga discography

It has occurred to me that it is not wholly accurate to lump The Fame Monster with The Cherrytree Sessions and Hitmixes, as the latter two had limited releases. Perhaps those two records could be reclassified as a live album (even if it is only 3 tracks) and a remix album, because it seems disingenous to say she had 3 EPs.—Ryūlóng (竜龙) 00:23, 5 July 2011 (UTC)

I think Hitmixes can even be classified as compilation album ala The Remix. But then that's my point. As for The Fame Monster, I think their overall categorization as a EP trumps their genre categorization as live, remix, box etc etc. I would be happy to raise a thread at the talk page though. — Legolas (talk2me) 04:06, 5 July 2011 (UTC)

Ask

Hi Legolas, i hope you are fine and that physio (or however it is called) is going well. I wanted to ask you if i can review articles? I am not interested in doing so (especially not for the time being as i am having exams)? I mean is there any procedure before becoming a reviewer? Jivesh Talk2Me 12:57, 5 July 2011 (UTC)

I'm doing good. And no, there's no procedure for becoming a reviewer. Just that if you have understanding of the material you are reviewing and are familiar with the points that needs to be checked, you are fine. Also, you need to familiarize yourself with the technical proceedings for a review. GANs are the best place to start, followed by PR and then move on to the Featured contents. — Legolas (talk2me) 12:59, 5 July 2011 (UTC)
Okay. Thanks. By the way, i have not been very regular these days because of my exams and i think i am seriously losing interest in editing. Do you think it is normal? Were you feeling like this when you were at the hospital or were you pretty impatient to see the articles you edit here? Jivesh Talk2Me 13:03, 5 July 2011 (UTC)
I never lost interest after I got my first FA. I think its a temporary phase for you with all the exams and everything. You will get over it. Yonka needs you. — Legolas (talk2me) 13:08, 5 July 2011 (UTC)
I know. But Adabow is also here and he does nice work on her articles. I seriously hope i get over this. Nowadays i have lost interest in everything i do. I do not know what is happening to me. Can you imagine sometimes i do not even sleep. And i do not have any personal problems (i mean i have some, who doesn't? [My parents are at times way too strict]) I really do not know what to think. I think it is normal to go through such a phase when you turn 18. Jivesh Talk2Me 13:14, 5 July 2011 (UTC)
It is my dear. You know what you can do after exams are over? Take a break, a nice holiday. Go to a relative's place, indulge in playing outdoor games. That stuff always helps. Also, you can look for a little job. You are adult now, you can surely work in say McDonald's or KFC or something. That's a great way to stress out too. I surely felt the same like you did during adolescence. — Legolas (talk2me) 13:41, 5 July 2011 (UTC)
Thanks for the advice. Much appreciated. I will surely tske a job in a call center. KFC will go in total loss if i work there as i will eat all the Kentucky for free. LOL. Can you tell me what is a sleeper hit? Jivesh Talk2Me 15:25, 5 July 2011 (UTC)
A sleeper hit is a song that took a long time to catch on with people and become a hit, most recent example being "Just Dance" by Lady Gaga. It was released in August 2008, and took 22 weeks to reach #1 on the Hot 100. — Legolas (talk2me) 15:29, 5 July 2011 (UTC)
I usually visit a number of forums and people have started writing that RTW is becoming a sleeper hit. Can you believe that it is getting better radio updates that BTINH? Incredible. We all thought it was dead on the radio (US) but it seems it is re-emerging. Jivesh Talk2Me 15:32, 5 July 2011 (UTC)
Don't know where you got that. RTW has gone recurrent on the Hot 100 Airplay and Mainstream Top 40. — Legolas (talk2me) 15:33, 5 July 2011 (UTC)
No i did not mean that it is re-entering the top 40 or something like that but it is getting great radio updates since the last three days. 2.7 million in three days. Well, i know it is not great but it is better than what it was getting 8 days after its release to radio. And the song is still in the top 40 of iTunes. Do you remember how it fell out of the top 175 of iTunes 15 days after its release. Jivesh Talk2Me 15:41, 5 July 2011 (UTC)
Ahh I see. Since this is her album week release it is the time when the songs benefit the most with everybody downloading album tracks and singles. But don't expect a huge rise for RTW in next week's digital sales chart. It will actually tumble due to iTunes "Complete my album" feature. Same happened to "Born This Way". As for radio update, well it will only help if the song is sent again to radio, then only those updates will be calculated. — Legolas (talk2me) 15:44, 5 July 2011 (UTC)
I do not think Beyonce's label is or her management (i do not know which one) is clever enough to do that. Actually, RTW has been in the top 40 since the video release but after the album's release it moved higher. I believe you. It will definitely lose some places. By the way, "Countdown" is receiving bulk airplay on urban radios. Jivesh Talk2Me 15:53, 5 July 2011 (UTC)
Which is something I don't like. Because it is taking spins from BTINH, which has the potential to be a big radio hit once Hot AC hangs on it. — Legolas (talk2me) 16:01, 5 July 2011 (UTC)
To tell you frankly, i did not get what you said but i know you must be right because people on that forum keep on telling the sane thing you just said. Something about Hot AC which i do not even know what the AC stands for. LOL. BTINH is currently at #14 on iTunes US. Do you think a video will help? Jivesh Talk2Me 16:05, 5 July 2011 (UTC)
AC means Adult Contemporary. Calvin 999 16:10, 5 July 2011 (UTC)
Ok lemme play Mr. Teacher now. Hot AC stands for the Adult Contemporary (chart) of Billboard. Now suppose you played a song 10 times today, it has 10 spins. Tomorrow you play it 25 times, the net gain of spins from today–tomorrow is 15 and total spins is 35, which is called its spin gain. Now suppose the day after tomorrow you played it for 20 times, then there will be a loss of spins by –5. This is how spins are calculated and in a week the song with the greatest spins like this is #1. Now about BTINH, Hot AC is a radio format which takes a little long time to hold onto a particular song, but when they do they play it non-stop. At present the format is hung on to "Rolling in the Deep" and "The Edge of Glory". So BTINH will become a big hit if pop + Hot AC formats both latch onto it. — Legolas (talk2me) 16:12, 5 July 2011 (UTC)
And the Best Wikipedia Teacher Award goes to ............. Mr. Avi aka Legolas. I really understood it this time. I hope they really get hold of the song. Bye for now Legolas. I have to revise. Thanks for everything. See you soon. Till then take care and don't be lazy, be regular with your physio. Jivesh Talk2Me 16:20, 5 July 2011 (UTC)
Thank you, thank you all for this honor! *sniff* — Legolas (talk2me) 16:23, 5 July 2011 (UTC)

Like a Prayer

Sorry! I uploaded a sample, but it's 65 kbps! Shall I upload another one? That one is <60 kbps... Novice7 (talk) 15:11, 5 July 2011 (UTC)

Done! I haven't added {{furd}}. Novice7 (talk) 15:31, 5 July 2011 (UTC)

I'm sorry for being disruptive, but you can tell just by listening to the song that the song is in E-FLAT minor, not just simply E minor. I use Musicnotes.com a lot, too, and sometimes they transpose the song just to make it easier to play on the piano. It doesn't necessarily mean that's the key the song is truly written in. Again, my apologies. — Preceding unsigned comment added by Cloverboy19 (talkcontribs) 02:08, 6 July 2011 (UTC)

Hey great work on the Like a Prayer article! Will you do that to all the Madonna singles/albums articles?? Also once you're done you think you can expand the I'm Breathless article??--MindyHall (talk) 02:44, 6 July 2011 (UTC)

Billboard issues

Hey Lego, Google Books does not have some BB issues (don't know why). I am working on a Grammy list and BB seems to publish the Final nominations every year. As certain issues are missing from GBooks archive, I can't verify the volume, date etc... Does Musicweek publish the nominees, lol? Novice7 (talk) 04:39, 6 July 2011 (UTC)

Well they do, but I don;t know if its for every year or not. Billboard does it every year I know. Which years are missing? Google books sometimes messes it up I know. — Legolas (talk2me) 04:44, 6 July 2011 (UTC)
Well, 1969, 1975, 1976, 1981 and 1984. Others are all good. Yeah, Google books messes up BB :| Novice7 (talk) 04:48, 6 July 2011 (UTC)

Ok i'll ask. Btw, does the picture on the Anytime You Need a Friend article in the music video section pass or fail rationale? I'm reviewing the article at the moment. Calvin 999 13:22, 7 July 2011 (UTC)
Most of the images in the music videos of teh Mimi articles fail NFCC. Mimi wasn't a visual artist like Madonna. However, this one actuall;y barely passes. — Legolas (talk2me) 13:25, 7 July 2011 (UTC)
okay thanks. I will ask him about Hair another time. Btw, you on my wiki charts on my user page, the GA green bars, does one exist like that for a fail? Calvin 999 13:56, 7 July 2011 (UTC)
As far as I know, there's nothing like that to indicate a fail. — Legolas (talk2me) 14:00, 7 July 2011 (UTC)

Madonna songs

Dear Legolas2186,

I've seen a lot of the Madonna/Lady Gaga-related articles that you have edited, and I honestly think that you are the best editor in those fields, considering the amount of work you have put into them. One thing that has come to my mind is that numerous of Madonna's biggest hit singles, such as "Express Yourself", "Vogue", "Ray of Light", "Frozen" and "Take a Bow", are rather small and lacking in useful information. I will try to work on these (having already edited some), yet, seeing your obvious knowledge and experience in these areas, I just wanted to raise the issue. On the other hand, Lady Gaga's singles, I have to say, are all very well-written and full of useful information.

Yours, --Theologiae (talk) 20:24, 7 July 2011 (UTC)

Thank you Theologiae, for taking the onus to update these articles. Actually I'm progressing with "Express Yourself" right now, and I will be progressing chronologically according to her releases. Hence I will of course come to these articles at some point. Best, — Legolas (talk2me) 04:28, 8 July 2011 (UTC)
I've just done some work on "Vogue". Of course it still needs a lot of improvement, but what do you think?
Yours,
--Theologiae (talk) 10:23, 8 July 2011 (UTC)
Its fine. By the way, when you modify articles, can you please format them using {{cite web}} and {{cite news}} templates so that it is not a overhead for the other contributors? — Legolas (talk2me) 12:55, 8 July 2011 (UTC)
Unfortunately, I don't know how to cite web. But I'll probably read the article.
Yours,

BTINH 2

Hi my friend. I hope you are even better now. My two cents (i guess that how you write it): Simple video for a simple song. No need to make it seem more complex than it really is, an over the top storyline would have overpowered the song.Beyonce is just insanely gorgeous without trying.

Legolas, this is not the best video she has done but sometimes simplicity makes something beautiful. I was secretly hoping for a video ala "We Belong Together" 2.0. Wait, i will tell you exactly what i did . Jivesh Talk2Me 05:56, 8 July 2011 (UTC)

Yes I love the video for its simplicity and that Yonka looks better with Black hair. :) — Legolas (talk2me) 06:09, 8 July 2011 (UTC)
You are totally right. I love women with black hair. One day, our teacher (a male) asked us, what type of women we like. One of my friends replied: "Women with black hairs" He added and "s" by mistake. LOL. Jivesh Talk2Me 06:13, 8 July 2011 (UTC)
Please do a c/e of this. Jivesh Talk2Me 06:17, 8 July 2011 (UTC)
I read that comment!!! That was you!! Boop, you did good stanning for Yonka though. And yes, I seriously loved Bee with black hair during the DC era. IMO it suits better than the blond thing she has now, which gives a dirty kinda look. The home-video thing really surprised me considering how much younger she looked. I didn't want a "WBT" 2.0, that video was boring to me. — Legolas (talk2me) 06:18, 8 July 2011 (UTC)
So you are also on UK Mix. Wow, i love that website so much. I get considerable amount of info there like sales , reception etc. They are too good. I really like the video for "WBT". It stayed at the top of our local music video countdown for.... hold your breath.......... 11 months. That's not a joke. Can you imagine how huge that song was here. I am sad it could not complete a yer\r but 11 months is too good. Jivesh Talk2Me 06:30, 8 July 2011 (UTC)
Thank you very much for the ce. Jivesh Talk2Me 06:33, 8 July 2011 (UTC)
(edit conflict)×2 Oh God Jivesh :O You can try this website. The brunette (?) Beyonce looked so beautiful :) And, Lego, you did not like WBT video? Not a big fave of mine, but still, I love it. My fave MC videos are "Boy", "Heartbreaker", "Breakdown" etc.. Novice7 (talk) 06:34, 8 July 2011 (UTC)
UKMix has so much amount of sales info I fear Nielsen will one day come banging on its doors for copyright infringement. Couple it with OCC, RIAJ, BEL, BM etc. And what? It was on top for 11 months? No offense, the song was too good, the video was just a snoozefest. I mean after the spunk of ILT, Carey in a wedding dress, with that bored expression made me fall asleep. BTINH moves to 21 on iTunes now. — Legolas (talk2me) 06:37, 8 July 2011 (UTC)
Didn't i tell you to hold your breath? That's true. And BTINH does not move but falls to number 21. It was at number 13 two days ago. Jivesh Talk2Me 06:41, 8 July 2011 (UTC)
Lol, it was 24 this morning. I checked whst I wrote. — Legolas (talk2me) 06:51, 8 July 2011 (UTC)
Oopss. Sorry. It's nice then. Anyway Legolas, have you seen the video of TEOG. Lady Gaga surprised me. I applaud her for that. She dances very well. And i find her very beautiful in the video but i guess people do not like it a lot because three weeks after its premiere it is still at 14 million views. Am i right? Jivesh Talk2Me 07:07, 8 July 2011 (UTC)
What do you think of 1+1 (song)? Can i take it to GA now? Or is it too early. I think i will read the whole article again and see the references later. Jivesh Talk2Me 07:09, 8 July 2011 (UTC)
TEOG video? I refuse to accept it as a proper video and instead see the Google Chrome commercial. See it if you haven't. As for "1+1", ya it seems comprehensive now. Seeing that it won't be released as a single, its safe to take it to GAC. — Legolas (talk2me) 07:13, 8 July 2011 (UTC)
I am surprised you do not like it. This is perhaps the video in which Lady Gaga has danced the more and she dances so well. Can you give me a link to the commercial. I really do not know about it. Jivesh Talk2Me 07:18, 8 July 2011 (UTC)
TEOG was supposed to be bigger than just dance, or just simplicity. It was supposed to be larger than life, which is what the google chrome advert shows and I like it. Here it is. Yeahhh another FL for me. — Legolas (talk2me) 07:22, 8 July 2011 (UTC)
I am watching it. What is FL? Can you also tell me what is TBH. IMO, SMH? Jivesh Talk2Me 07:30, 8 July 2011 (UTC)
Featured list, duhhh. As for the other lingo, ooo Jivesh you are really lagging, lol. TBH – To be honest, IMO – In my opinion, SMH – Suck my huevos (balls). — Legolas (talk2me) 07:32, 8 July 2011 (UTC)
That's pretty rude (SMH). And i admit that this looks like the usual GAGA video but it definitely has something more. Then why did they release the video i watched? Has any explanation surfaced? Anyway, i still love the video and this is what made Lady Gaga my official second favorite artist, displacing Kelly Rowland. She was fifth long ago. Nicole was at three (now at four). And Mariah was at four (now five). Jivesh Talk2Me 07:37, 8 July 2011 (UTC)
Lol SMH means "shaking my head" - like a disapproval. And Jivesh, I thought that Keri was your second favourite artist? Adabow (talk · contribs) 07:43, 8 July 2011 (UTC)
Legolas, I hope you did not get me wrong. When i wrote, that's pretty rude, i was making reference to the SMH thing. Oh my dear Andrew, Keri is still strong at number2. It is hard to displace her but GaGa has joined her. They share that spot. LOL. But it is even harder impossible to displace Beyonce from the pole of my list. Jivesh Talk2Me 07:46, 8 July 2011 (UTC)
Usher is my second favourite artist; I have 5 of his 6 albums. I use to really like Gaga, especially after TFM (every song is good), but BTW really disappointed me. I only like three BTW songs. Adabow (talk · contribs) 07:50, 8 July 2011 (UTC)
You should hear my mom singing "Marry The night". I think my mom will die out of happiness the day she meets Lady GaGa. Jivesh Talk2Me 07:52, 8 July 2011 (UTC)
Lol, Jalebi, I understood. He he, with 4 reaching #1, you won't believe the amount of Beyonce gifs I'm seeing. You have to admit, the woman makes absolutely hilarious gifs. Keri went down in my list long before PGR was released. And Ada, SMH means both, but I wanted to say the meaning of the former. . Usher is in my all-time favorite artist list. — Legolas (talk2me) 07:53, 8 July 2011 (UTC)
I love Jalebis. God knows when i will have the privilege of eating one again. What is "gifs"? It is not in my dictionary. Jivesh Talk2Me 07:58, 8 July 2011 (UTC)
Thumbs up BEYonce! I was about to say the same thing about SMH too :) GIF is an image format. I like Usher too, but "OMG" was just boring :( Novice7 (talk) 08:02, 8 July 2011 (UTC)
Nope. Nothing can compare to the 4 era gifs. — Legolas (talk2me) 08:04, 8 July 2011 (UTC)
Lol, that was an awesome gif :D I haven't seen any Madge gifs. Lemme check 'em out. Novice7 (talk) 08:07, 8 July 2011 (UTC)
Wow seeing that on repeat made me laugh so much. Jivesh Talk2Me 08:16, 8 July 2011 (UTC)
Still searching? — Legolas (talk2me) 08:17, 8 July 2011 (UTC)
Lol, I found two or three. They were really good. And, that Gaga GIF is really cool! I should use these in some forums :) Novice7 (talk) 08:35, 8 July 2011 (UTC)
Taaaa I got so much more!! — Legolas (talk2me) 08:38, 8 July 2011 (UTC)

I hope it was not Beyonce? Jivesh Talk2Me 09:23, 8 July 2011 (UTC)
Uh no. — Legolas (talk2me) 09:24, 8 July 2011 (UTC)
It is always good to revive some memories. Lol. Is it Toni Braxton? Jivesh Talk2Me 09:29, 8 July 2011 (UTC)
Aretha Franklin? Jivesh Talk2Me 09:32, 8 July 2011 (UTC)
Close-enough. Its Toni Braxton's sistuh in some cheap-ass show! Well fooled ya! — Legolas (talk2me) 09:33, 8 July 2011 (UTC)
YAAAAAAAAYYYYYYYY, i got the right answer. LOL. Bye Legolas. I have to get back to revision now. Keep getting better and better. Take care. Goodbye. Jivesh Talk2Me 09:37, 8 July 2011 (UTC)
It is only now i realise that my answer was not correct. It's Toni Braxton's sister. LOL. Jivesh Talk2Me 14:24, 8 July 2011 (UTC)
