Excessive use of primary sources section template

Thank you for tagging the Alaska Airlines page for excessive use of primary sources. However, placing the primary sources template on the top of the page, then again in 11 sections seems excessive. In the future, may I suggest you use only the primary sources template on the top of the page on pages like this where it's a page wide issue, and the section template when it's only an issue on a few sections. Regarding the AFD discussion for Wikipedia:Articles for deletion/World Heavyweight Championship (Los Angeles), I believe this article was originally about the World Heavyweight Title promoted by Pacific Northwest Wrestling. At some point, this information was replaced with the history for World Heavyweight Championship (Los Angeles version) and the page was moved to its current title. Special:Diff/1200195993/1200197038 - per WP:PRIMARY we can link to some primary sources in articles. Rule #1 says "Primary sources that have been reputably published may be used in Wikipedia". The University of California is "reputably published". The source is being used to make a straightforward statement of fact, not an analysis. Only if there is an "analytic, evaluative, interpretive, or synthetic claim" is a secondary required. Removing FamilySearch

When you remove it, it's important to also check the other source that's alongside and remove FamilySearch sourced contents. If you just strip the citation, it will cause it to look like it is properly sourced to the source that is preserved while retaining FS based contents. Go back through, remove anything that's not verifiable with the source that's still there. If the other source is not accessible, you could flag the article as having unreliable sources. Saur Rev. Edit

I know that AuthorHouse is a self publishing thingy and might be unreliable in most cases, however the book I used was written by an Afghan general who was present during these events and it is a very old book, which was translated into English only very recently by his son. Can the edit be reverted or no? Also, as the book was written in Dari, it is very likely the original publisher was not Authorhouse. Possibly an Iranian or Afghan publisher. Thank you for your response! I will try to find out where General Nabi Azimi published the book before it was translated into English by son. For more context, Nabi Azimi was present during the Saur Revolution and was reportedly being targeted by the Air Force led by Abdul Qadir. In the translator’s note, Ilyas Azimi (son of General Nabi Azimi)states: “Having read the original Persian version of Army and Politics, I believed that it carried a strong message for anyone who wanted to know the truth behind some of the most life-changing events of those years. Hence, I decided that being an Afghan myself, I should try and translate this magnificent book of recent Afghan history into the most powerful language in the world whereby those who would like to know what had actually happened in Afghanistan during that time that led to the displacement of millions of Afghans, would have a great chance to find out. One of my objectives has been to help the second and third generation Afghans who were born abroad and are not Persian literate, and those who had to flee their beloved homeland only to seek asylum somewhere else. It took me five years of thorough hard work to translate Army and Politics from Persian into English. I am proud of being able to come this far and I really hope that my undivided efforts in conveying the message of Army and Politics will remain helpful.” This proves there is a Dari version out there, which was the original. You're welcome, who was the original publisher? If you're able to identify that information and it's a better publisher, that would go a long way in helping establish reliability. It would probably be better to cite that original book instead. If you're searching for the original book and publisher right now, I'll hold off on raising the matter at the noticeboard, unless you specifically want to. Also, that's good how you have Persian-to-English translation skills; that's a major asset to building the encyclopedia for topics with better coverage in Persian; sources need not be in English per WP:NONENG. I just found the original version by searching up the title in Dari where it’s known as “اردو و سیاست، در سه دهه اخیر افغانستان - جلد 1 و 2“ – aka Urdu Aw Siyasat (Army and Politics). I also found the original publisher, which is not AuthorHouse, but rather “Seba Dehki Nalbandi Library of Peshawar Baazar” – https://ketabnak.com/book/110993/اردو-و-سیاست-در-سه-دهه-اخیر-افغانستان-جلد-1-و-2%7C Peshawar is a city in Pakistan, so this library is probably in Pakistan and the first pages of the book states they’re the publisher. Additionally, I do have knowledge that we use the Solar Hijri calendar in Afghanistan and the year the book was published was “1375” which is 1996 in the Gregorian calendar.

Sadly, I do not speak Persian and can only read a few words, my main language is Pashto. I only know that there is a Dari version, since Azimi’s son stated so in the English version. AfghanParatrooper19891 (talk) 09:21, 26 February 2024 (UTC)

I tried to search up the name of the library, only to find books that have been published by the publisher rather than information about the actual publisher. I transliterated the name if the publisher "سبا کتابخانه دهکی نعلبندی قصه خوانی بازار پشاور" from Dari to Latin script, and it translates to "Saba Bookstore, Dehki Naalbandi Storytelling Market, Peshawar" in English. Hello @Gymrat16: novacapsfans.com is a Capitals fan blog. It doesn't have any sort of editorial staff, policy, or oversight shown, which are hallmarks of reliable sources. Is thehockeywriters.com a good source in your opinion? I ask because the other day Steven stamkos recorded his 211th power play goal to pass pic robatille for third most with one franchise. And before you know it he will pass lemiuex for second most with just one team so want to get thoughts on that before I consider adding that to his article. I honestly didn't realize that since they can be tricky to compare and contrast so my apologies. Anyway, I was gonna ask if you can re-look at the citations I added to the sentence comparing him to ovi and tell me what you think?. @Gymrat16: Sportsnet seems to be reliable for most hockey-related things, but context matters, and the source you cited looks like a press conference with Stamkos' (former?) coach, so his opinions on Stamkos' skills, strengths, and weaknesses are probably not considered an independent reference, let alone in wikivoice without attribution. The Hockey Writers source you added, I'm not too sure about; the site itself might not be reputable enough on its own to confer reliability, especially for more subjective claims. I tried to search for journalistic credentials on Justin Godfrey, and came up mostly empty. There's a lot of grey areas in sports journalism, and reliability is often on a spectrum. On a side note, please bear in mind when making inquiries on user talk pages that this is a volunteer project, and most of us are busy with other things on Wikipedia and real life, and have limited time on these sorts of things. I'm mostly just going through and cleaning out the black-and-white unreliable sources, especially those used for extraordinary claims. Don't be discouraged though, most of your edits are probably very good since NHL/Ice hockey seems to be a busy WikiProject with a lot of experienced editors watching these articles, and I haven't seen many content/merit-related objections against your edits. You can always assume your edits are good unless or until you hear otherwise. If I may lend one last piece of advice from seeing your edits, I think it would be good to rely more on sources from journalists, and less on interviews with players and coaches. My time and energy for this matter is running short now, so if I have more thoughts, I'll add to it later, and I might jump in to the Stamkos article again at some point if I have a chance. alright man thank you i know we're all busy with things in our lives and i dont disagree one bit but I only added some things from players to sort of back up that claim so it sound believeable. Tocchet the current head coach for the canucks by the way was the head coach of the bolts during his first two years in the league (2008-2009 and 2009-2010) so thats where that video came from when he was asked about it. I look through other articles like Ovechkin, Crosby, Iginla, McDavid, etc to get these ideas and I tried to emulate them to the best way I could so the sentences sound believable otherwise I feel like if there isn't at least a little bit then no one will want to believe the claims they're seeing you know? its kinda like saying something than having points to back them up so yeah thats all hopefully that makes sense too cause you've been real understanding and I honestly feel flattered that you have recognized by effort and knowledge on these things and of course I want to continue to be the best I can be while also making sure I stay disciplined too.
