Welcome![edit]

Hello, Lcarobo, and welcome to Wikipedia! I hope you like the place and decide to stay. Unfortunately, one or more of the pages you created, such as User:Lcarobo/private sandbox, may not conform to some of Wikipedia's content policies and may not be retained. In short, the topic of an article must be notable and have already been the subject of publication by reliable and independent sources.

Please review Your first article for an overview of the article creation process. The Article Wizard is available to help you create an article, where it will be reviewed and considered for publication. For information on how to request a new article that can be created by someone else, see Requested articles. If you are stuck, come to the Teahouse, where experienced Wikipedians can help you through the processes.

Hello, and welcome to Wikipedia. A tag has been placed on User:Lcarobo/private sandbox requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under section U5 of the criteria for speedy deletion, because the page appears to consist of writings, information, discussions, and/or activities not closely related to Wikipedia's goals. Please note that Wikipedia is not a free web hosting service. Under the criteria for speedy deletion, such pages may be deleted at any time.

If you think this page should not be deleted for this reason, you may contest the nomination by visiting the page and clicking the button labelled "Contest this speedy deletion". This will give you the opportunity to explain why you believe the page should not be deleted. However, be aware that once a page is tagged for speedy deletion, it may be deleted without delay. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag from the page yourself, but do not hesitate to add information in line with Wikipedia's policies and guidelines. If the page is deleted, and you wish to retrieve the deleted material for future reference or improvement, then please contact the deleting administrator, or if you have already done so, you can place a request here. Greetings Fastily as the admin who deleted the content, could you refund the sandbox? Based on the Teahouse discussion I saw, I believe the above editor is in good faith exploring how to improve Wikipedia articles on ISO standards. While they may need to be less technical, the intent is very much in-line with the purpose of building an encyclopedia. ~ 🦝 Shushugah (he/him • talk) 01:12, 19 October 2022 (UTC)[reply]
@Shushugah Thank you - it would be wonderful to have the opportunity to read Wikipedia:Clean start and more effectively edit what I wrote, which I can do tomorrow. In good faith, I would like to explore how to improve Wikipedia articles on ISO standards, (beginning with the Technical Committee I speak on behalf of: ISO/TC 260 HRM and also, as discovered today, to help ISO/TC 176 QM improve its Wikipedia article). Thank you. Lcarobo (talk) 01:19, 19 October 2022 (UTC)[reply]
If I can be direct, WP:Clean start is not necessary. You should keep using your current account as is. Sometimes edits get reverted, modified (usually a good thing) or in this case, even deleted. I personally disagreed with the speedy deletion, but that’s why I pinged the admin, to seek a discussion and find a way forward. I am happy you are here, and happy to answer questions. Another WikiProject you might find interesting for finding knowledgeable and likeminded editors is WP:TECHNOLOGY ~ 🦝 Shushugah (he/him • talk) 01:24, 19 October 2022 (UTC)[reply]
@Shushugah Thank you - hopefully it will work out ok. Certainly intensive lesson learned today. No question. Thank you. Lcarobo (talk) 01:35, 19 October 2022 (UTC)[reply]
Thank you for trying to help. Did the admin who deleted my unintentionally incorrect private draft ever reply? I just logged into the area where I attempted to post, and there is only a glaring deleted notification there. Not sure how to proceed? Someone posted that I am not allowed to ever post on ISO again in my entire life in penalty for my unintentional mistakes (misunderstanding the rules). Feels quite awful, actually. Please let me know if you have any suggestions. If not, I will of course let my ISO committee know that someone else will need to try to post the information; and I will also share the severity of making any mistakes (no such thing as "Private Sandbox" --it is being judged from the first keystroke with no proofreading or checking opportunities whatsoever). The lesson learned for me is that anyone who wants to contribute to Wikipedia needs to draft any document offline; then, check it against every Wikipedia rule. Also, realistically (given the penalties of making one mistake), in addition, any writer should to share the draft with someone who has been successful with positing on Wikipedia. I will continue to read about it but it seems that I am blocked from ever participating again. Opportunity for learning, certainly. I will continue to think on it and transfer my role to someone who has not been adjudicated/deleted. Thank you most kindly again. Sincerely, sorry I was unable to make a difference this time. :) Lcarobo (talk) 14:18, 20 October 2022 (UTC)[reply]
Lcarobo, what is the username of this "someone" who said that you are "not allowed to ever post on ISO again in my entire life in penalty for my unintentional mistakes (misunderstanding the rules)"? Is this person an administrator? Where did this conversation take place? You have no page blocks. You have no topic bans. Editing restrictions do not apply for a new editor's entire life. Sanctions against an editor almost always involve notices on their user talk page with explanations of how to appeal. This simply does not add up and I suspect that you misunderstood someone's offhand remark about the possibility of a sanction. You are entirely free to begin a new draft as long as it complies with Wikipedia's policies and guidelines. Cullen328 (talk) 16:00, 20 October 2022 (UTC)[reply]
@Cullen328 Thank you - it was one of the responses to posts I made in either Teahouse or here. I will look for it and send you the link as soon as I can (working today and need to follow-up later). Thank you VERY MUCH though for letting me know that I can start over. To confirm, when I login, I should be able to just start all over, correct? Meanwhile, I'll write draft offline -- lesson learned. Thank you most kindly. Lcarobo (talk) 16:54, 20 October 2022 (UTC)[reply]
Any editor in good standing can start a sandbox page at any time. I do not recommend writing off-line. You need to become familiar with the collaborative editing environment. Cullen328 (talk) 17:00, 20 October 2022 (UTC)[reply]
@Cullen328Thank you for the suggestion. OK- I was worried about getting deleted again, because everything I wrote the first time was deleted while I was in the middle of writing. Maybe I'll start with one paragraph (showing independent sources for same) and build from there? Lcarobo (talk) 18:54, 20 October 2022 (UTC)[reply]

References to significant coverage in reliable, independent sources are the backbone of an acceptable article. This cannot be overemphasized. If you create those first and then summarize them, you are well on your way to success. Cullen328 (talk) 18:59, 20 October 2022 (UTC)[reply]
