Re:please leave my images alone[edit]

I deleted them for the reason I stated in the edit summary- they were tagged as being licensed for non-commercial, educational or Wikipedia use only. See the crieria for speedy deletion, specifically, criteria I3. To count as free, images must be released under a license that means that they are free for anyone to use, for any purpose, including modification. AfD nomination of Cedar Creek (Connecticut)[edit]

I have nominated Cedar Creek (Connecticut), an article you created, for deletion. I do not think that this article satisfies Wikipedia's criteria for inclusion, and have explained why at Wikipedia:Articles for deletion/Cedar Creek (Connecticut). Your opinions on the matter are welcome at that same discussion page; also, you are welcome to edit the article to address these concerns. Thank you for your time. Image copyright problem with Image:Football-title.jpg[edit]

Thanks for uploading Image:Football-title.jpg. You've indicated that the image is being used under a claim of fair use, but you have not provided an adequate explanation for why it meets Wikipedia's requirements for such images. In particular, for each page the image is used on, the image must have an explanation linking to that page which explains why it needs to be used on that page. Can you please check

  • That there is a non-free use rationale on the image's description page for each article the image is used in.
  • That every article it is used on is linked to from its description page.

Image copyright problem with Image:Middlesexcounty.PNG[edit]

Thanks for uploading Image:Middlesexcounty.PNG. The image has been identified as not specifying the copyright status of the image, which is required by Wikipedia's policy on images. If you don't indicate the copyright status of the image on the image'm,nm,nkuhjghjbnbjhvhhgggggggs description page, using an appropriate copyright tag, it may be deleted some time in the next seven days. If you have uploaded other images, please verify that you have provided copyright information for them as well.

October 2008[edit]

Please do not add copyrighted material to Wikipedia without permission from the copyright holder, as you did to Gay City, Connecticut. For legal reasons, we cannot accept copyrighted text or images borrowed from other web sites or printed material; such additions will be deleted. You may use external websites as a source of information, but not as a source of sentences. Wikipedia takes copyright violations very seriously and persistent violators will be blocked from editing. Elkman (Elkspeak) 15:17, 13 October 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Also, it turns out that we already have an article on the park at Gay City State Park. You may wish to improve that article instead, but please use your own words, don't copy/paste from other sites, and remember to credit your sources. --Elkman (Elkspeak) 15:19, 13 October 2008 (UTC)[reply]

A tag has been placed on Mount Trashmore(Connecticut) requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under section A1 of the criteria for speedy deletion, because it is a very short article providing little or no context to the reader. Please see Wikipedia:Stub for our minimum information standards for short articles. Also please note that articles must be on notable subjects and should provide references to reliable sources that verify their content.

If you think that this notice was placed here in error, you may contest the deletion by adding {{hangon}} to the top of the page that has been nominated for deletion (just below the existing speedy deletion or "db" tag), coupled with adding a note on the talk page explaining your position, but be aware that once tagged for speedy deletion, if the article meets the criterion it may be deleted without delay. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag yourself, but don't hesitate to add information to the article that would would render it more in conformance with Wikipedia's policies and guidelines. Lastly, please note that if the article does get deleted, you can contact one of these admins to request that a copy be emailed to you. Non-dropframe (talk) 21:53, 23 October 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Stratford Shoal[edit]

Please stop adding Stratford Shoal, Connecticut to the county template: longstanding consensus nationwide (as reflected in Polaron's and my actions) is that non-communities don't get added. As well, please remember the 3RR policy: if you continue, you may be in somewhat serious trouble, as a block is allowed to be used to stop continued reversions. Regardless of the situation, I myself may not block you, even if I believe that a block is warranted. Nyttend (talk) 05:42, 24 October 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Edit war[edit]

Just a friendly reminder: you and Polaron are definitely in an edit war at {{Fairfield County, Connecticut}}, and it seems like you're in a violation of the three-revert rule. I don't want to get involved more than necessary, but I'd like you to remember that "Users violating the rule may warrant a block from editing for up to 24 hours in the first instance." Since nobody seems to have brought this up before me, I'll not block you now; but if you continue, I'll have to block for a short time to make sure that the template can stay stable. If you've lived in Fairfield County since colonial times why dont you root for your local teams. Go back to New York? Face it. We pretty much LIVE in New York. NY metropolitan area. That means NY teams=your local teams.

TRAITOR! —Preceding unsigned comment added by 67.86.122.109 (talk) 15:39, 29 November 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Admit it...we live in the NY Metropolitan area. Like Jersey, Rockland, Westchseter and Nassau. Shouldnt you root for your hometown teams?

Ugh...the Islanders...ewww...LETS GO RANGERS!!!!

If we were from New England we would root for the Boston teams...commute to Boston, tahk with that retahded accent. Nobody here does that. We root for NY teams, commute to NY, mostly have NY accents.

LOOK[edit]

I just dont get why anybody from Fairfield County would be anything other than a Yankees or a Mets fan. We're not from Boston or New England or anything like that. We're from the NY Metropolitan Tri State Area. We root for our beloved hometown teams. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 67.86.122.109 (talk) 02:11, 7 December 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Notability of David Stephens[edit]

A tag has been placed on David Stephens requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done because the article, which appears to be about a real person, organization (band, club, company, etc.), or web content, does not indicate how or why the subject is notable: that is, why an article about that subject should be included in an encyclopedia. Under the criteria for speedy deletion, articles that do not indicate the subject's importance or significance may be deleted at any time. Please see the guidelines for what is generally accepted as notable. If this is the first page that you have created, then you should read the guide to writing your first article.

If you think that you can assert the notability of the subject, you may contest the deletion by adding {{hangon}} to the top of the article (just below the existing speedy deletion or "db" tag), coupled with adding a note on the article's talk page explaining your position, but be aware that once tagged for speedy deletion, if the article meets the criterion it may be deleted without delay. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag yourself, but don't hesitate to add information to the article that would confirm the subject's notability under Wikipedia guidelines.

For guidelines on specific types of articles, you may want to check out our criteria for biographies, for web sites, for bands, or for companies. Feel free to leave a note on my talk page if you have any questions about this. Porturology (talk) 21:49, 8 March 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Proposed deletion of List of Places with the word City in their name[edit]

A proposed deletion template has been added to the article List of Places with the word City in their name, suggesting that it be deleted according to the proposed deletion process because of the following concern:

Wikipedia is not an indiscriminate collection of information. If properly completed, this list would be extremely long

All contributions are appreciated, but this article may not satisfy Wikipedia's criteria for inclusion, and the deletion notice should explain why (see also "What Wikipedia is not" and Wikipedia's deletion policy). You may prevent the proposed deletion by removing the {{dated prod}} notice, but please explain why you disagree with the proposed deletion in your edit summary or on its talk page.

Please consider improving the article to address the issues raised because, even though removing the deletion notice will prevent deletion through the proposed deletion process, the article may still be deleted if it matches any of the speedy deletion criteria or it can be sent to Articles for Deletion, where it may be deleted if consensus to delete is reached. File Copyright problem
File Copyright problem

Thanks for uploading File:Fairfield county ct sheriff badge.jpg. I noticed that the file's description page currently doesn't specify who created the content, so the copyright status is unclear. If you did not create this file yourself, you will need to specify the owner of the copyright. If you obtained it from a website, then a link to the website from which it was taken, together with a restatement of that website's terms of use of its content, is usually sufficient information. However, if the copyright holder is different from the website's publisher, their copyright should also be acknowledged.

If you have uploaded other files, consider checking that you have specified their source and tagged them, too. You can find a list of files you have uploaded by following this link. Unsourced and untagged images may be deleted one week after they have been tagged, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. If the image is copyrighted under a non-free license (per Wikipedia:Fair use) then the image will be deleted 48 hours after 21:27, 16 April 2009 (UTC). If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you. –Drilnoth (TCL) 21:27, 16 April 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Connecticut CDPs[edit]

The distinction between whether a village/neighborhood is listed as a CDP or not is completely artificial. It requires the town where the community is located to be part of the Participant Statistical Area Program of the U.S. Census Bureau. If you're talking about the county navigation template, you might be interested in reading through this long discussion about whether CDPs should be separate from non-CDP communities. Basically, if the CDP and non-CDP distinction is locally significant in a state, then it might make sense to list them separately. This is most definitely not the case in Connecticut. --Polaron | Talk 03:16, 30 May 2009 (UTC)[reply]

An editor has nominated one or more articles which you have created or worked on, for deletion. The nominated article is List of counties that the Appalachian trail passes through. We appreciate your contributions, but the nominator doesn't believe that the article satisfies Wikipedia's criteria for inclusion and has explained why in his/her nomination (see also Wikipedia:Notability and "What Wikipedia is not").

Your opinions on whether the article meets inclusion criteria and what should be done with the article are welcome; please participate in the discussion(s) by adding your comments to Wikipedia:Articles for deletion/List of counties that the Appalachian trail passes through. Please be sure to sign your comments with four tildes (~~~~).

You may also edit the article during the discussion to improve it but should not remove the articles for deletion template from the top of the article; such removal will not end the deletion debate.

Is it right to write it this way? OR getUNESCOProperties();

It has the authority to enact binding solutions for disputes between editors, primarily related to serious behavioural issues that the community has been unable to resolve. This includes the ability to impose site bans, topic bans, editing restrictions, and other measures needed to maintain our editing environment. Better source request for File:Newtownborough.PNG[edit]

Thanks for your upload to Wikipedia:

You provided a source, but it is difficult for other users to examine the copyright status of the image because the source is incomplete. Please consider clarifying the exact source so that the copyright status may be checked more easily. It is best to specify the exact Web page where you found the image, rather than only giving the source domain, search engine, pinboard, aggregator, or the URL of the image file itself. Please update the image description with a URL that will be more helpful to other users in determining the copyright status.

If you have uploaded other files, consider checking that you have specified their source in a complete manner. You can find a list of files you have uploaded by following this link. If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page or me at my talk page. Thank you. ShakespeareFan00 (talk) 08:13, 28 October 2018 (UTC)[reply]

2019 US Banknote Contest[edit]

US Banknote Contest
November-December 2019

There are an estimated 30,000 different varieties of United States banknotes, yet only a fraction of these are represented on Wikimedia Commons in the form of 2D scans. Additionally, Colonial America, the Confederate States, the Republic of Texas, multiple states and territories, communities, and private companies have issued banknotes that are in the public domain today but are absent from Commons.

In the months of November and December, WikiProject Numismatics will be running a cross-wiki upload-a-thon, the 2019 US Banknote Contest. The goal of the contest is to increase the number of US banknote images available to content creators on all Wikimedia projects. Participants will claim points for uploading and importing 2D scans of US banknotes, and at the end of the contest all will receive awards. Whether you want to claim the Gold Wiki or you just want to have fun, all are invited to participate.

If you do not want to receive invitations to future US Banknote Contests, follow the instructions here
