Phillies Uniform

I dunno. The lighting seems to be an issue here. In some images, such as the first ones that show up, the uniforms seem to be a deep yellowed cream. However, probing deeper reveals images with a light cream look as well as pictures that appear white. I wasn't sure, and, upon seeing the white-looking images, wrote it down as the artificial lighting simply giving it a yellowed look. The lighter off-white ones appeared to be white, but suffering from dim light. Perhaps it is a light cream. I can't really tell. Perhaps it would be best to just wait and see how it looks on the field unless pictures or video of the uniform being worn outside become available. I hope you don't mind my little rewrite of your image. It was certainly well done, though.--Silent Wind of Doom (talk) 07:27, 2 January 2008 (UTC)

High School Stuff

Hey, Killervogel5. I see that you're a big contributor to Harford County Public Schools, especially Edgewood High School. Not sure if you are interested in this, but I have been working on high schools on the Eastern Shore, Carroll, and Frederick Counties and have been using www.mpssaa.org to find high school sports teams that have achieved state championships, state finalists, semi-finalists, etc... You can look at Walkersville High School as an example.

Wallstreethotrod (talk) 19:33, 28 March 2008 (UTC)

You're welcome. I actually went to Bel Air High School. My wife went to Fallston. I started working on Frederick County because most of their high schools had no pages.Wallstreethotrod (talk) 11:48, 29 March 2008 (UTC)

Phillies page

Not a problem helping you out. If you ever need any help, gimmie a holler!

Oh, and just an FYI, you put it in my archives, so I moved it over to my main talk page. No biggie, but just thought I'd let you know in case you were looking for it there ;-) EaglesFanInTampa 20:29, 3 April 2008 (UTC)

Phillies WikiProject

No problem :) Whammies Were Here 21:02, 7 April 2008 (UTC)

Hey, I just got the word out to everyone in Category:Wikipedian Philadelphia Phillies fans, so that should help get the ball rolling. Even if I get one person to join that way, that's more than not trying. We'll get this all off the ground, that's for sure! EaglesFanInTampa 14:38, 8 April 2008 (UTC)

I have created the main outline at Wikipedia:WikiProject Philadelphia Phillies. It still needs some work and expansion.   jj137 (talk) 17:05, 8 April 2008 (UTC)

OK. I'll try to continue to add some content as well. Additionally, I'll start working on the seasonal articles, as those have very little content.   jj137 (talk) 17:25, 8 April 2008 (UTC)

"Phightin's" issue

OK, we're still dealing with the IP reverting it back. How do we block the page for the time being? I usually don't deal with this stuff, but when they keep reverting perfectly good edits, it irks me. LOL EaglesFanInTampa 15:25, 9 April 2008 (UTC)

Wow, I go to lunch for an hour, and you single-handedly solve the issue. You rock! Wish people at my real-life job were just as efficient ;-) EaglesFanInTampa 17:46, 9 April 2008 (UTC)

On EaglesFanInTampa's talk page you said that I lied. I did not. I wrote to him that I sourced my point. Sourced meaning researched. Also, please do not refer to me as "the IP"---I'm a wikipedia user same as you. And it isn't an issue of "reverting perfectly good edits". Wikipedia is supposed to be a source of credible, researched information. It is also supposed to be open to the public provided any edting done is based on credible research. I have vintage Phillies memorabilia that says "Fightin' Phillies" (rarely "Phils" but that's a moot point). I'd like to think that the items I've collected over twenty years of fanhood have some validity. There is a real sense of exclusivity in the Wikipedia editor community. I am not impugning anybody's fandom or knowledge but on this issue (as silly as it is) I am right. --70.110.235.140 (talk) 18:58, 9 April 2008 (UTC)70.110.235.140

Until you sign up for an account, your information is continuously displayed as your IP address, so it's nothing personal, but all anonymous users are "the IP". eBay listings and opposing organizations do not count as credible sources and can't be used. You did, however, erase sources from both a local newspaper and Major League Baseball to prove, as you just said a moment ago, you're "right". It now seems like it's a personal vendetta to show the world that you're the #1 authoritative source for everything Phillies, but in actuality, there's not one person that can claim that. So, before making edits that you "know" are right, look them up with credible sources to see if you truly correct. EaglesFanInTampa 19:15, 9 April 2008 (UTC)

It's up to you. I'm tempted to be bold and do it, since the situation happened days ago and the 3RR-rule applies only for a 24 hr period. So, lemme know what you're thinking and we'll go from there. EaglesFanInTampa 14:01, 14 April 2008 (UTC)

Alright, I did it. Let's see how quickly someone'll revert it now.... EaglesFanInTampa 14:18, 14 April 2008 (UTC)

I received a message from EaglesFanIn Tampa saying my edit of the Phillies article is vandalism. I thought the point of having an online encyclopedia is to present the public with accurate sourced information. When I first edited the article you were condescending, the second time you were even more condescending and said that my edits were unsourced. I sourced them and still my changes were an issue. It is apparent at this point that it's two against one. EaglesFan said that the recent edits were neutral---how can have neutrality on an issue where there is only one accurate side. EaglesFan's sources are a City Paper (Phila area weekly) blog and MLB.com affiliated fan blog. I have sourced and can provide evidence of oficial Phillies memorabilia that say Fightin---stuff going back sixty years. So what I can't understand is how my edits are vandalism but the reversions are cool. Whoever the mediators are I hope they understand that central point. It seems EaglesFan keeps making this an issue (and Killervogel seems to back his opinion) because I had the audacity to change something he contributed. EaglesFan has yet to communicate with me to point out based on evidence presentd by both parties why he is right and I am wrong. he has yet to comment on the evidence I have produced. So far all I've gottenis warnings and snooty remarks. What is the deal? --Thefestooner (talk) 21:00, 14 April 2008 (UTC)

Barnstormers

I like the idea of Lancaster having its uniforms on its page, however, I don't think that it should be the only minor league team to have them. That's the reason.

JaMikePA (talk) 00:11, 10 April 2008 (UTC)

This is an automated message from CorenSearchBot. I have performed a web search with the contents of 1943 Philadelphia Phillies season, and it appears to be very similar to another wikipedia page: 1943 Philadelphia Blue Jays season. It is possible that you have accidentally duplicated contents, or made an error while creating the page— you might want to look at the pages and see if that is the case.

This message was placed automatically, and it is possible that the bot is confused and found similarity where none actually exists. If that is the case, you can remove the tag from the article and it would be appreciated if you could drop a note on the maintainer's talk page. CorenSearchBot (talk) 19:29, 16 April 2008 (UTC)

Phillies Season Awards

Hey Dude, Do you not find the Rookie of the Year award merited in the comments section for the Phils' 2005 season? Arguably it is a more high profile award than MOY. Was this just an oversight when you corrected my .5 to ½? JesseRafe (talk) 01:06, 22 April 2008 (UTC)

My bad. It's got to be reformatted, though, to match the rest of the abbreviations and cited properly in the footnotes. Killervogel5 (talk) 03:24, 22 April 2008 (UTC)
Yeah, I noticed that it was much longer, and thought about making it say ROY to conform, then thought about working on my thesis, and ultimately decided to pore over Utley and Burrell's projected stats and pontificate with my Mets fan roommate about how good our bullpen is. I joined the Wikiproject, I've raised my fair share of shit over there and in various Phillies articles (like one schmuck who kept reverting everyone's addition of Feliz as a Phillie). I think we may have interacted before, as I was an early proponent of trying to get the 125 years of standings off the main page, but just didn't know how to do it purdy like you ended up doing. I'll spice some things up in an ad hoc way when I come across them, let me know if there's anything specific needed. JesseRafe (talk) 05:02, 22 April 2008 (UTC)

Cardinals/Phillies seasons FLs collaboration

What luck and irony that when I decided to search through other MLB team seasons articles to see if any had been worked up to FL status since I had taken St. Louis there, that mere hours earlier the Phillies list you primarily authored was promoted. Congratulations on the recognition for your dedication and hard work! Anyway, the reason I started my search was to see if any newly promoted seasons list had any features that should be added to the Cardinals list to improve it. Therefore, I think we should work together to rectify any differences between our articles and establish a precedent that both the Phillies and Cardinals lists will meet and set for other lists to follow. Points of difference I see are:

  1. The separation of footnotes and citations. Your style is obviously superior here and I plan on following it and editing the Cardinals list to match as soon as possible.
  2. The inclusion of the current season. This has become commonplace with NFL season lists, but not with NHL season lists. I favor not adding a season's record until it is complete, primarily because the alternative would require a daily edit totaling 162+ per season. It's not so big a deal for the NFL, having only 16 games.
  3. The Cardinals list repeats the column headers every 25 years. I did this so that the headings are visible no matter where you are on the long list and think it should be the standard.
  4. Championship highlighting style The Phillies seasons list is the only one I have found that highlights the entire rows as you did, therefore I think the Phillies list should be edited to fit the precedent established throughout sports seasons lists.
  5. The Totals at the end of the lists. The style you used is prevalent throughout sports seasons lists, so I will edit the Cardinals list to match.
  6. Seasons column wikilinks. The Phillies list always links to xxxx in baseball while the Cardinals list links to that from 1882 to 1998, and then links to xxxx Major League Baseball season from 1999 to 2007, which were the only years those articles existed for when I created the Cardinals list. However now MLB season articles exist for every year back to 1876. I'll leave it open to debate whether to link every year to the MLB season or the in baseball season.
  7. The use of Did You Know type footnotes in the Cardinals list. This is really more of a suggestion, but I've been lauded multiple times for the interesting bits they add to the article and even received several suggestions for more during the FL nomination.

Let me know any comments or questions you have on my talk page.Timpcrk87 (talk) 06:01, 5 May 2008 (UTC)

P.S. I made some small edits to the introduction of Philadelphia Phillies seasons to help the pursuit of perfection.

Phillies Game Log

You are welcome. I moved it back because I think it would be easier to keep the game log updated if it is located in the article itself, since it is easy to access. I am glad I was able to help you, because I have noticed that some of the game logs fell behind in terms of updates. --Willy No1lakersfan (Talk - Contribs) 23:44, 11 May 2008 (UTC)

Why thank you!

Thanks for that Barnstar, I really needed a little wiki-pick-me-up after a dispute earlier today! Ever since I devised that little solution on the Phillies' navbox, I've been trying to apply it to most other teams' (not the Rays' or D-Backs', obviously): a very tedious process. If you're interested, I'd take all the help I can get. It almost makes me want to code an MLB-specific navbox template... almost. -- χγʒ͡ʒγʋᾳ (talk) 10:47, 15 May 2008 (UTC)

Redirecting?

You seem to know alot about wikipedia, so I'll ask you. If there is a page, how do you redirect incorrect/similar phrases to redirect to the correct page? I've tried #REDIRECT [[Insert text]] but it doesn't work it just comes up red.

Example: Typing in Kevin Love. It used to go into the disambig. page, but now it redirects to Kevin Love (basketball) and says "if you're looking for the nascar driver, see ...etc". How did they do that? What do they type? Thnks.

No standings in any publication use the entire official name for the Angels. It makes the table look ugly frankly to have it spelled out in full. Chad Durbin's page

Why did you edit the addition to Durbin's page? He is blogging on Prolebrity.com and I thought it was relevent to people interested in him.

Seanbesser (talk) 18:51, 13 June 2008 (UTC)

Blogs are not reputable sources. In addition, the term prolebrity is a neologism, which Wikipedia does not cover. This means it is a term which will not or has not yet gained wide use. These edits to the pages of each player using this blog site may easily be construed as advertising, also forbidden in Wikipedia articles. KV5Squawk boxFight on! 19:18, 13 June 2008 (UTC)

From Sean to KV5: It is Chad's personal blog though. How is Chad talking about things that interest him not reputable with respect to himself? That doesn't make any sense. Re:Greg Dobbs

Basically what I did was delete the whole article in order to purge some libellous edits made by an anonymous IP. Once those edits are purged they won't show up in the history anymore and can't be seen by editors (except admins). Unfortunately in order to purge some edits one has to temporarily delete the whole article and then restore it, and that will show up on watch lists and be somewhat confusing. I hope this explains things! ... discospinster talk 02:13, 17 June 2008 (UTC)
