Information icon Hello, and welcome to Wikipedia. We appreciate your contributions; however, it appears you may have written a Wikipedia article about yourself, at User:Kgeary007/sandbox/Kathy Joan Geary. Creating an autobiography is strongly discouraged – please see our guideline on writing autobiographies. If you create such an article, it may be deleted. If what you have done in life is genuinely notable and can be verified according to our policy for articles about living people, someone else will probably create an article about you sooner or later (see Wikipedians with articles). If you wish to add to or change an existing article about yourself, you are welcome to propose the changes by visiting the article's talk page. Please understand that this is an encyclopedia and not a personal web space or social networking site. If your article has already been deleted, please see: Why was the page I created deleted?, and if you feel the deletion was an error, please discuss this with the deleting administrator. Thank you. EIE sandbox feedback.[edit]

Here is my feedback. You article can still use some work.

What is the daily number of hits to the website, or paid subscribers? Do you do any printed media? Annual Revenue? Number of employees?

It could seriously use some photos to liven it up. Do you have any award winning photos that you can add to Wikimedia? They have to be ones you are willing to enter in the public domain. Sadly, print media has one up on you here, as magazines have cover photos (which as advertising by default are in the public domain), and they do well as examples on wiki entries. Also, put the logo into the infobox. Do a detailed dive into the {infobox} template and try to fill out as many items available. Annual revenue and employee information goes into this infobox. Look at examples from other companies in your peer group to see how they do it. Also look at some fortune 500 business articles to see how they do it (are you in the fortune 1000? That also improves notability guidelines).

The bottom section, while extensive does not have one citation. Have any of these "sections" been reported in any other media? It looks like an ad. My advice to you is to drop this entire section for now, and add it later if the article makes the grade, but you will need citations for it. Clean out anything in the article that you put there just to "pump it up". Again, this is not a site for self promotion or advertising. You go to an encyclopedia to learn something - use your page to teach the world something about your company and why it belongs in an encyclopedia.

You need to make a serious effort to address those concerns on the deletion discussion pages. If this is your company, you are going to fight a HUGE uphill battle, as this is an encyclopedia, NOT a self promotion site. Articles are generally better accepted if someone OUTSIDE your company decides that an article is needed; this is the most basic concept of notability - does someone OTHER than you find your company notable enough to start an article? Writing an article about yourself is never EVER neutral in tone, and is also considered original research, which is no-no.

I'm having trouble myself with the notability, but you have done a pretty good job describing the extent of the companies reach. What makes you notable? Has your writing been nominated for a Peabody? Pulitzer? Have you won any competitions against any other online media sites? Awards by peer media groups? NOMINATIONS don't make you notable. WINS do. Lose the entry on nominations - you can add it back AFTER you win something to flesh out the article further. Also, you mention a LOT of people who do NOT have Wikipedia pages in their own right - these people are not notable, so quoting them seldom helps. Lose the part about Wallace matthews - if he's not notable enough to have a Wikipedia page, he's not worth including. The entire paragraph about publishing news feeds fails for this reason too, none of those outlets quoted have their own Wikipedia pages apparently - web aggregators are not notable as a rule. The paragraph on producing content is great because that can make you notable, but again those sites/magazines you quoted aren't notable unless they have Wikipedia entries. Think about all of the people and companies you want to quote; but are not notable in themselves enough to have their own Wikipedia entries - this should give you pause - if they can't get an article, why should you?

Finally, when you think you are ready to publish, go back to the deletion discussion page and send a direct message to the hardest and loudest of your critics and very politely ask THEM for feedback on your new draft. If you can get them on your side, then it's ready to publish. Timmccloud (talk)
