Confused[edit]
All I'm trying to add to the West Point Band page is bio info on one of our performing groups. I am a member of the ensemble and it is simply a bio describing the group. - @Rjny19 Sorry for any unwanted confusion. Wikipedia is a place for cold, hard facts, with even colder references and citations. Opinions, such as the one you posted, are not allowed on Wikipedia, and are classified as un-encyclopedic content. Imitation Game[edit]
Hi K scheik, thanks for your message. There is a bit of history to the editing on the article which is why I was being so careful with the wording. My view would be that there have been quite a few editors on the page who are interested in the real Alan Turing rather than the movie, hence the quite long "historical inaccuracies" section on the article. So the edit as it was introduces the movie as "about" Alan Turing and the use of that word "about" was actually the subject of a rather lengthy discussion on the talk page of the article, but the consensus seems to be that he is the main character of the film, and the film covers three different periods of his life, therefore it is accurate to say the movie is "about" him. The sentence then gives a brief description of who Alan Turing was, without saying whether or not the movie is then about those particular details of his life. Your change says that the movie is about particular aspects of his life, which while I might agree with, does make it a little more contentious (there are some who would argue that the movie's depiction of his work on Enigma is so inaccurate that it is not "about" what he actually did at all). I hope that makes some sense? If you feel strongly about the change you're suggesting, you should go to the talk page and see if you can get consensus for it. BTW, I agree it can be hard not to sound condescending when you are discussing these things, but just assume that everyone else is working in good faith and you should be fine! Hi K scheik, I checked the discussion and saw that an agreement had been reached but no one closed the discussion. It had not been updated since the 22 of Jan. A filter does not allow for redirecting and some has already asked for this as well as admin closure. Not sure how long one needs to wait. A few more days? It's hard to believe that *truths* are still reverted. Reversions are supposed to be for lies and patent nonsense. - What are you talking about? Upon close inspection, I was irrefutably in the right. Someone deleted an entire section to get rid of one piece of vandalism, without an explanation, and didn't clean up the article afterwards. Since I was erasing vandalism via Recent Changes, I didn't take the time to read the entire section. However, the edit was hastily done, and the person who performed it obviously didn't read the whole article either! If you see something like that, you don't need to tell me "Don't screw up next time" because, as I expect you may need help figuring out, is somewhat obvious. You can simply revert the change with the very conveniently blue highlighted (undo) button. You can then provide a detail as to why it was needed, which I would then get a notification about, and thank you on your talk page. Instead, you decided to come onto my talk page with a very condescending tone, and insult me. Understanding that publicly shaming another is tantamount to homicide, I came back to remove some facts I had posted about a US Federal Judge's rulings. Now, I am not sure a public official, especially a criminal court judge, equates to a person but in any case I wanted to remove the ugly facts I had posted out of self shame.
However you had erased my comments very shortly after they were posted tagging them as vandalism. So, no need for me to do anything other than contemplate your claim. Vandalism is an action involving deliberate destruction of or damage to public or private property. As for opinion, I think the text read something like "infamous for" then included a link to NYT, with readership of nearly 2,000,000 people / day. Other than that article, this guys name is next to unknown therefore infamous is accurate and not opinion, right? Anyways, Let G-d judge than man. It's not my place to punish him. - You can indent your message to indicate reply by using the semicolon, you can use multiple to reply to a reply. Enroll in the Counter-Vandalism Unit(CVU) academy to learn more. You could simply add the NYT article to the further reading section, or add one if it doesn't exist. No need to write anything, or cite it anywhere. - While I appreciate that you as a teacher approve of Wikipedia (which is rare nowadays), I think that you might want to rethink your strategy a little, as Wikipedia is a place to contribute to, not to test the verifiability of. Explaination for the best selling girl groups list[edit]

I changed the information for 2NE1 because the number of digital downloads were false and the article from Forbes US was misunderstood, they are talking about 'I Am The Best' when they say that the song moved (from 3,467,674 in 2011, source ---> GAON Charts) to 4,5 millions copies sold during 2012, not 'I Don't Care', the article says « the group has sold 27 million digital downloads to date, including the single I Am the Best [sic], which moved 4.5 million units and won Song of the Year honors at Asia’s Mnet Awards », so i think my contribution to this list was constructive since there is a source for what i changed. The sales for I Don't Care / Fire and other songs from 2009 aren't available so what is written for 2009 on this list of best selling girl groups is speculation.

- I saw this argument after I looked deeper into the issue however, the "consensus" you linked me to was, in fact, not a consensus at all. The only consensus that has been reached was that the article should have an infobox. I have read over the various arguments and have discovered no consensus of whether or not the infobox should be collapsed. Also, your message appears to convey that my edit (getting rid of the collapsed userbox) was correct, yet you reverted it, leading me to believe that you simply goofed up your message and conveyed the opposite. I believe that every Wikipedia article can be improved by anyone, so saying that the main contributors to the article have any more power in making decisions seems nonsensical to me. - How you think threatening to mindlessly edit war just to force your personal preference onto something is a beneficial and constructive step to take I shell not even bother to guess. The collapsed box has been there for a while, giving it an ipso facto consensus, so if you wish to change that consensus, you need to discuss on the talk page, not edit war. The consensus on the talk page to include the IB saw the box returned to the exact same state it was prior to the discussion: i.e. in the collapsed state. It has therefore been there a while, and was the consensus to keep all sides happy between having a pointless turd in the top corner of the article, and not having one. There it is. I assume you're referring to an Ipso Facto consensus. Shall I point out a few holes? [2][3][4][5] Those are all edits by different users, all trying to get rid of that inconvenience. That in itself should have prompted any Wikipedia editor to launch a discussion. Also, you are doing consensus wrong. [6] Here is a very nice diagram that explains consensus in a nutshell. So instead of just saying "As per talk page consensus." You should say: "Create talk page discussion to change consensus." That is what I say whenever I am presented with this issue as that is how it is handled. See what I mean? Adopt-a-user - please check your details[edit]
Hello, I have been doing a cleanup of the ‘Adopter’ information page for the Adopt-a-user Project, located here. During my cleanup, I've removed several long-inactive and retired users, leaving just the most recently active ones, whether they're currently available (14 users) or not currently available (24 users).
In order to provide potential adoptees with an easy location to find people, the Adopter's page needs to be up-to-date with the latest availability information. Thus:

Hello, K scheik. Voting in the 2018 Arbitration Committee elections is now open until 23.59 on Sunday, 3 December. All users who registered an account before Sunday, 28 October 2018, made at least 150 mainspace edits before Thursday, 1 November 2018 and are not currently blocked are eligible to vote. Users with alternate accounts may only vote once.
The Arbitration Committee is the panel of editors responsible for conducting the Wikipedia arbitration process. It has the authority to impose binding solutions to disputes between editors, primarily for serious conduct disputes the community has been unable to resolve. This includes the authority to impose site bans, topic bans, editing restrictions, and other measures needed to maintain our editing environment. The arbitration policy describes the Committee's roles and responsibilities in greater detail.
