Edits to Countershading[edit]
Hi, and welcome to Wikipedia.
I'm writing here because I'm not sure your edits to the Countershading are sufficiently thought out. For example, on the visibility of predators and prey, both groups of animals may benefit from being cryptic - prey to evade detection and capture, predators to evade detection and the escape of their prey. So the "and" absolutely does not mean "of predators by prey" but is bidirectional, any-directional. In short, it was better before your edit, and I shall revert it now. I can't go on doing this - it would break the "3 Revert Rule" - so what we need to do if you feel the article needs improvement is to identify sources - books, scientific journal articles, serious websites - which indicate additional or contradictory facts, cite them, and we can work on making the article better, rather than tweaking small phrases which are (it seems so far) correct and making them worse. I'd point out that the article as it stands is the result of a considerable amount of reading and research, and all the claims made are, I believe, supported by citations. I've reverted your edits to the ketogenic diet article. There are many theories about the mechanism in the diet. In order to determine which theories deserve mention in the article, per WP:WEIGHT we require secondary sources (e.g. reviews and academic/professional books). A primary research paper is not a sufficient sources. In my opinion, a computer simulation of cells is quite far from constituting strong evidence, but that judgement is for expert published writers to make, not you or I. Waiting for secondary sources may mean the article is not up-to-date with the very latest theories, but also ensures the theories we present have had a chance to be accepted. As a tertiary sources, readers expect the encyclopaedia to follow current scientific/medical opinion. Btw, we also avoid using "recent" in articles, as the concept of "recent" is vague and dates very quickly. -- Colin°Talk 08:47, 7 February 2014 (UTC)
