VisualArt's

Happy New Year, Juhachi. A note: there are currently 44 articles that link to the redirect page Visual Art's, which you moved to Visual Arts (company) in December 2018 after the name change. If I am not mistaken, I believe certain pages/sentences need to be updated to reflect this (e.g. the sentence As of June 2020, 47 versions of Key's 14 released visual novels have been published by VisualArt's. at List of Key video games).

I am unsure if there should be exceptions for "historical" references to the company, however (e.g. Little Busters! and Little Busters! Ecstasy are visual novels [...] published by VisualArt's in 2007 and 2008. at Music of Little Busters!), and was hoping you could provide guidance or alternatively edit the pages yourself. — Goszei (talk) 10:45, 2 January 2021 (UTC)

@Goszei: I would just update everything to Visual Arts, since it wasn't so much of a name change as a logo change and that it's the same company it's always been.-- 12:32, 2 January 2021 (UTC)

Japanese name order

Hey, quick question about your edit last week to Ciconia When They Cry. According to WP:JTITLE, we should:

Follow the usage of academic texts or a widely used reference such as a published encyclopedia in matters of spelling, macron usage, and name order. Such sources generally give Japanese names with the family name first.

Was the way you rendered the name found in such sources? You didn’t say in your edit summary. —96.8.24.95 (talk) 23:20, 14 January 2021 (UTC)
The guideline you quoted would apply to people who have had academic texts or widely used references that refer to them in that naming order for it to be applicable, like the historical figure Tokugawa Ieyasu given in the example. But modern (non-historical / post-Meiji restoration) people are almost universally given in a Western naming order, like Yoshihide Suga. Unless there is some kind of exception, Western naming order has always been the default for Japanese names of modern people on Wikipedia. Just take a look at any category for modern Japanese people, like Category:Japanese video game designers or Category:Japanese composers.-- 05:26, 15 January 2021 (UTC)
Is there a WP guideline or anything supporting this? Not challenging you on it—I ask because I frankly don’t know, and I could see a case for either way. —96.8.24.95 (talk) 17:57, 16 January 2021 (UTC)
The relevant guideline appears to have been changed some years ago from a strict given-family order to be more flexible about how the name is presented in reliable sources. The key wording here being a "widely used reference", which is why I believe that really only applies to historical figures or other people notable enough to get their own articles. While it may be true that some modern figures are universally known by their Japanese name order, like Nisio Isin, the vast majority are presented in the Western order in reliable sources, and so this convention is also reflected in Wikipedia.-- 22:00, 16 January 2021 (UTC)

DYK for Snow Halation

On 20 January 2021, Did you know was updated with a fact from the article Snow Halation, which you recently created, substantially expanded, or brought to good article status. The fact was ... that the Japanese-pop song "Snow Halation" by μ's has a music video animated by Sunrise? The nomination discussion and review may be seen at Template:Did you know nominations/Snow Halation. You are welcome to check how many pageviews the nominated article or articles got while on the front page (here's how, Snow Halation), and if they received a combined total of at least 416.7 views per hour (ie, 5,000 views in 12 hours or 10,000 in 24), the hook may be added to the statistics page. Finally, if you know of an interesting fact from another recently created article, then please feel free to suggest it on the Did you know talk page.

Re: your edit summary here

With respect, no we don't have to have the images here. They already exist at the main article for these characters at Undefined Fantastic Object. Duplicating them here is no different than duplicating File:Selena Quintanilla-Pérez.jpg, which already is shown at Selena, and showing it on Selena albums discography. It simply isn't necessary, and fails the WP:NFC guideline (see WP:NFC#UUI). Lastly, any time a non-free image is used on the project, a rationale for that use must be supplied, per WP:NFCC #10c. No such rationale for use on the list article exists for those images, nor realistically can there be one. The use here on the list would be purely decorative and duplicative. I've removed the images again. If you have questions, let me know. Thanks, --Hammersoft (talk) 03:29, 16 February 2021 (UTC)

Regarding your reversion of my edit and the nature of portal templates

Greetings and felicitations. I apologize for my delay in responding. Regarding your comment in your reversion of my edit to Love Live! ("I don't agree with this edit. Putting portals in a see also section seems counter to what a see also section is normally used for to link to other articles, not wikispaces"), I draw your attention to:

"Other internal links: {{Portal}} and {{Wikipedia books}} links are usually placed in this section."
"This template [...] is most often used in the 'See also' section of an article."
"Portals serve as enhanced 'Main Pages' for specific broad subjects. Portals are meant primarily for readers, while encouraging them to become editors of Wikipedia by providing links to project space. Portals are created for encyclopedic topics only and not for article maintenance categories." That sounds to me as if portals are a way "to link to other articles".
"To see if a subject you are reading has a portal, check the bottom of the page (in the article's See also section) for a link to a corresponding portal."

There are other reasons for objecting to my edit, but portals not belonging in "See also" sections is not one of them. —DocWatson42 (talk) 15:55, 24 February 2021 (UTC)

@DocWatson42: It still doesn't say it has to be in the see also section, just that they are usually or most often placed there, but I would argue that is only if there are other wikispace articles already there, instead of just a list of portals. I probably wouldn't have reverted it if that were the case, but creating a new section just to link 2 portals that can easily go in external links seemed pretty pointless to me, hence the revert.-- 21:05, 24 February 2021 (UTC)

Happy First Edit Day!

July

Hi, if you have time, can you check recent edits to the above, particularly dates. I have to log off - work calls. Thanks Denisarona (talk) 12:44, 13 July 2021 (UTC)

@Denisarona: If the official chapter titles as released in the English volumes have the "th" suffixes after the dates, then that is what should be used.-- 16:53, 13 July 2021 (UTC)

October

Hi there, Thank you for taking your time to improve the page, there was no need to remove Tokyo, Japan from studio's names as its necessary as studios location may differ, although another fellow editor corrected it, I just wanted to let you know so you don't repeat the mistake in future. Also, I've put the disc 2's eng title in note and original into its title. I hope you're okay with that. Umm we learn something new everyday and I too mess up sometimes but its alright, at the end thank you for your edit. Good day and stay safe! HimuTheEditor (talk) 08:11, 30 October 2021 (UTC)
