PGamers[edit]

Hey JHS! Check out... the forums :)

Stricken vote[edit]

OK, thanks. I thought I'd removed my vote from enwiki and moved it to Wikibooks - that's why I voted twice. It doesn't really matter - I just thought it might be nice to have my vote from Wikibooks, where I'm currently most active, that's all. Kind regards, —Celestianpower háblame 19:53, 28 June 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Okay, I'll strike the one from here and use the Wikibooks one instead. Jon Harald Søby 19:54, 28 June 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Election vote[edit]

Thanks for that. I wasn't sure who I was supposed to contact about striking out my simple.wiki vote. I was just toying around, and I didn't think it would actually record my duplicate vote. Nishkid64 (talk) 20:02, 28 June 2007 (UTC)[reply]

fr-la[edit]

Hi, I noticed that you edited my user page and you changed "fr-la" to "frc." Let me clarify that "fr-la" refers to "Louisiana French," the French language as it is found in Louisiana, which includes Napoleonic French, Colonial or Plantation Society French and Cajun French, while "frc" refers solely to the French dialect known as "Cajun French." The reason that "fr-la" is linked to "Cajun French" is because there is no "Louisiana French" article and I believe that the "Cajun French" article does a good enough job of explaining what "Louisiana French" is... well, the first half of the article, at least. requesting help with parser function ;)[edit]

Hi

I'm using a local installation of mediawiki and I use templates from wikipedia. the problem is that any template that includes parser function syntax such as #if is being rendered on the page as regular text.

It's as if the parser function syntax is not available in the wiki do I need to install/import something?

Might you be able to help please?

Thanks!

Gargamel573 18:02, 6 July 2007 (UTC)--[reply]

Hi! You need to install the ParserFunction extension, see mw:Extension:Parser function extensions. While you're at it, there are also some other functions that aren't available on Wikipedia, but are still immensely useful, see mw:Category:Parser function extensions. Good luck. Jon Harald Søby 20:47, 6 July 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Thanks a million! :)

My RfA[edit]

Thank you for participating in My RfA which closed successfully. I am honored and truly more than a little humbled by the support of so many members of the community. It's more than a bit of a lift to see comments on my behalf by so many people that I respect. I'll do my best to not disappoint you or the community.

On a personal note, Jon, I want you to know how much the support of those who've worked closely with me means to me. I hope you can see past my ... what was it? ... "non-standard" signature and we can all just learn to love all signatures... of all colors, shapes, sizes, and hypertext. Thank, my friend. - Philippe | Talk 06:38, 23 July 2007 (UTC)[reply]

You're very welcome; it is well-deserved. You still have that signature, though… Jon Harald Søby 08:26, 23 July 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Chien Tan[edit]

Hey, Johnny. How's it going? I am missing Jiantan awfully. X( — Nearly Headless Nick {C} 12:25, 10 August 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Nothing to miss; I've been there a couple of times since Wikimania ended, and it is no fun without all the people. But it brings good memories. Jon Harald Søby 13:27, 10 August 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Sig...[edit]

Juuust thought i would let you know, i came across your signature...somewhere which has left me BUT the deal is, as far as i know, you're not actually allowed to contain images in your signature. Not that much fun, but one of the policies. Just thought i would let you know so you don't get into trouble or something. Cheers --SteelersFan UK06 02:03, 27 August 2007 (UTC)[reply]

LOL! You're the second person to tell me that. I used an image in my signature for like a week or something two years ago. When telling people not to do this and that in signatures, you should really check the date of the signature, and also check their most recent signatures. BTW, I know anything but obeying to policies is impossible in the English Wikipedia (don't even think about changing them!), but I would really like to have colourful signatures banned. They're sooo annoying, and contribute nothing to the encyclopædia whatsoever. Jon Harald Søby 19:19, 28 August 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Dear Jon[edit]

Thanks for your vote[edit]

Thank you for participating in my RfA, which passed with a vote of (53/0/1).

As a token of my appreciation, please accept this bowl of tzatziki.

I feel honored to be trusted by so many of you. Wikipedia is such a large community, that my acceptance in the face of such large numbers truly is humbling. I will use my new tools to continue the tasks for which you entrusted them to me.
