Hi, John

Sorry about the quick deletion. You'll probably understand when I say that we get a lot of spam, and deletion is one of the chores that have to be done and there isn't a lot of spare time to do it in.

I've restored your article and hope you can improve the tone of it to make it more encyclopaedic. See some of the guidance pages listed above and they will lead you to others. Deb (talk) 15:15, 10 February 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Invitation[edit]

Hi John Prattley,

Thanks for helping with Japan-related articles on Wikipedia. Here's an invitation to visit Wikipedia:WikiProject Japan. There, you can meet other Wikipedians working on articles related to Japan. You'll find lists of new articles, projects, and links to resources such as

You'll also learn about {{WikiProject Japan}}, a template you can place on the talk page of any relevant article, and find instructions for assessing articles.

Hope to see you there!

Best regards, Fg2 (talk) 11:58, 13 April 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Just a thank you for the brilliant edit. A fascinating read!

=WP:OMT invitation[edit]

I know you've got these pouring out of your ears, but do you want to join WP:OMT? It's an attempt to make every single articles about battleships and battlecruisers featured. I wwouldn't usually just be going about, invinting people, but your work on Mutsu and Nagato class battleship suprised me. I think you'd do well there editing Japanese realted articles (There's a good deal of them without really good explanations). So think about it. The doors are always open!

(P.S. When writing Cosntruction sections, try to utilize everything under hte "General Characteristics" section in the infobox, the large box to the right of the text)

Dave Gallaher[edit]

Hey. Good to see that expansion of Dave Gallaher that you performed. I've been meaning to expand the article myself. If you've got access to any good references for material on him, it would be great if further inline citations could be added. Anyway main point of this message was to say good work. - Shudde talk 08:27, 21 April 2013 (UTC)[reply]

Thanks for your additions to the article. That book looks like it could be quite worthwhile.

As a longtime (9 years) member of WP:Opera, I'd just like to draw your attention to several editing conventions employed in this and in (almost) all other articles which fall under the WikiProject Opera group, which via a consensus of editors over the years, have become established and agreed upon.

For instance, we use the "Notes" (footnotes) and "Sources" (even dividing between "Cited sources" and "Other sources") under the main "References" heading. If you wish to take a look at the Project page, you can find it here: Wikipedia:WikiProject Opera/Article styles and formats. All the best, Viva-Verdi (talk) 17:58, 29 April 2014 (UTC)[reply]

Hello! I noticed that you added a few interesting facts to the Nellie Melba article. Unfortunately, you did not cite your sources, so I have removed the information for now. If you can point to the source(s) (including page numbers or URLs) where you got the information, feel free to re-add it, together with citations to the source(s). See WP:V for more information. All the best! -- Ssilvers (talk) 20:39, 29 April 2014 (UTC)[reply]

Good. The references make all the difference. This encyclopedia depends, for its value to researchers, on the references, as discussed at WP:V. Happy editing! -- Ssilvers (talk) 22:57, 6 May 2014 (UTC)[reply]

Dave Gallaher again[edit]

Hey John. I've been slowly going through the Dave Gallaher article, giving it a bit of a clean and a copy-edit, and also trying to get it referenced appropriately. In the Memorials section I've not had any success finding a reliable source for the inscription that is on the statue of Gallaher outside Eden Park. I'm pretty sure you added this text to the article, do you have, or know of, a source for this text? Thanks. -- Shudde talk 02:24, 7 October 2014 (UTC)[reply]

Thank you[edit]

Thanks for adding the beautiful Great Houses of London to all those articles! The book has provided a great resource for me in my Wikipedia work, and evidently a great pleasure to you, too. Any work you do on the great London houses is much appreciated. Gareth E Kegg (talk) 00:13, 19 October 2014 (UTC)[reply]

Gallaher again[edit]

Hey John. Just letting you know that I've requested a peer review for the Dave Gallaher article; the review can be found here. Thought you may want to contribute, basically looking for any feedback at all (no matter how pedantic) on the article. Aiming to have it featured on the main page one day. No problems if you don't have the time, but thought I'd let you know after all the work you did on the biography. -- Shudde talk 06:55, 17 November 2014 (UTC)[reply]

Hi,
You appear to be eligible to vote in the current Arbitration Committee election. The Arbitration Committee is the panel of editors responsible for conducting the Wikipedia arbitration process. It has the authority to enact binding solutions for disputes between editors, primarily related to serious behavioural issues that the community has been unable to resolve. This includes the ability to impose site bans, topic bans, editing restrictions, and other measures needed to maintain our editing environment. The arbitration policy describes the Committee's roles and responsibilities in greater detail. If you wish to participate, you are welcome to review the candidates' statements and submit your choices on the voting page. The Battleship Builders[edit]

It's great that you've been adding this book to the articles, but please understand that you should add it in a separate Further reading section since the book actually isn't being used as a source for any of the articles. Also there's no need to specify the format, so replace it with "|lastauthoramp=y" to match the format of the citations that use an ampersand for multiple authors.--Sturmvogel 66 (talk) 04:23, 17 March 2017 (UTC)[reply]

Featuring your work on Wikipedia's front page: DYKs[edit]

Thank you for your recent articles, including Post-war reconstruction of Frankfurt, which I read with interest. When you create an extensive and well referenced article, you may want to have it featured on Wikipedia's main page in the Did You Know section. Articles included there will be read by thousands of our viewers. To do so, add your article to the list at T:TDYK. This can be also done through this helpful user script: User:SD0001/DYK-helper. WikiProject assessment tags for talk pages[edit]

Thank you for your recent articles, including Post-war reconstruction of Frankfurt, which I read with interest. When you create a new article, can you add the WikiProject assessment templates to the talk of that article? See the talk page of the article I mentioned for an example of what I mean. Usually it is very simple, you just add something like {{WikiProject Keyword}} to the article's talk, with keyword replaced by the associated WikiProject (ex. if it's a biography article, you would use WikiProject Biography; if it's a United States article, you would use WikiProject United States, and so on). You do not have to rate the article if you do not want to, others will do it eventually. Those templates are very useful, as they bring the articles to a WikiProject attention, and allow them to start tracking the articles through Wikipedia:Article alerts and other tools. For example, WikiProject Poland relies on such templates to generate listings such as Article Alerts, Popular Pages, Quality and Importance Matrix and the Cleanup Listing. Thanks to them, WikiProject members are more easily able to defend your work from deletion, or simply help try to improve it further. Feel free to ask me any questions if you'd like more information about using those talk page templates. Thanks for deleting this draft.
A editor had prevented it from being published and wouldn't reply to my efforts to discuss it. As result I couldn't make any progress. After being upset by his attitude for 6 months I returned to the article and was able to get around him and it has been published with the title "Inca complex at Písac".
