Thank you - I do appreciate your help on this. I've have a very interesting career in media to document and I've been referenced in other's wiki pages and want to make sure I am telling my own story. Grateful for your help. John Mongiardo (talk) 08:39, 28 April 2024 (UTC)[reply]
Wikipedia is not the place for "telling your own story". You'll need to find a blogging or social media platform of some sort for that.
Firstly, you should not be writing what you know about yourself, you should only be summarising what reliable and independent secondary sources have previously published about you.
And even then, you shouldn't be writing about yourself in the first place, see WP:AUTOBIO for some of the reasons why.
Besides which, you do not 'own' an article about you (should one be published); it is available for anyone to edit, including in ways that you may not be happy about. You might well find that "your own story" soon turns into "someone else's story about you".
And last but not least, you have a conflict of interest (COI) in writing about yourself, which would need to be formally disclosed first.
For all these reasons, I would strongly advise you against this endeavour. -- DoubleGrazing (talk) 08:59, 28 April 2024 (UTC)[reply]
Well, I do appreciate your experience for this - but I have been and continue to be in the news for various productions, sitiations, cultural events, in life as well as in music tv and film. The LA Times wrote a 3 page article about me and Michael Del Guidice re-recording music for my boss and mentor the late Doug Stegmeyer (Billy Joel bassist) who commited suicide in our studio for me to find him. I was referenced in a recent Billy Joel biography for this.
I've launched TV channels for 20 years with many sources and press coverage.
This is not an ego trip for me - but I have been newsworthy many times and everyone I work for or worked with references me (for example Michael Del Guidice, currently in BIlly Joel's band) or has a current page listing their relationship to my news.
I think this John Mongiardo page is relevant and notably newsworthy connected to historical situations, cultural issues and content. I am a TV distribution and Emmy winning LGBTQ programming pioneer for 20 years and will flesh out additional information over time.
I understand this is not my page - but an article about John Mongiardo. My work will live on beyond me - as will this page - but the information is timeless and important.
I'll sleep on your comments above - and truly appreciate you taking the time to further educate me on wiki. I do believe the page is relevant, but will come back to you in the future after further thought. John Mongiardo (talk) 09:30, 28 April 2024 (UTC)[reply]

April 2024[edit]

Information icon Hello, and welcome to Wikipedia. We appreciate your contributions; however, it appears you may have written a Wikipedia article, or a draft for a Wikipedia article, about yourself. Creating an autobiography is strongly discouraged – please see our guideline on writing autobiographies. If you create such an article, it may be deleted. If what you have done in life is genuinely notable and can be verified according to our policy for articles about living people, someone else will probably create an article about you sooner or later (see Notable people who have edited Wikipedia). If you wish to add to or change an existing article about yourself, you are welcome to propose the changes by visiting the article's talk page. Please understand that this is an encyclopedia and not a personal web space or social networking site. If your article has already been deleted, please see: Why was the page I created deleted?, and if you feel the deletion was an error, please discuss this with the deleting administrator. Thank you. Was my article deleted? John Mongiardo (talk) 08:42, 28 April 2024 (UTC)[reply]
What do you mean? You haven't created any articles, only one draft (in your sandbox). Also, you've made nine edits, all of which are still live, nothing has been deleted. -- DoubleGrazing (talk) 08:54, 28 April 2024 (UTC)[reply]
Oh, I'm sorry I thought I read it was deleted. How can I make the article live? John Mongiardo (talk) 09:00, 28 April 2024 (UTC)[reply]
You cannot, because of your conflict of interest in this subject (ie. yourself); you therefore have to wait for the AfC review process to complete. If your draft is accepted, it will then be moved by the accepting reviewer from the draft space into the main encyclopaedia. -- DoubleGrazing (talk) 09:05, 28 April 2024 (UTC)[reply]
Understood. Thank you for your time. John Mongiardo (talk) 09:31, 28 April 2024 (UTC)[reply]
