Olympic venue category mergers

FYI. I have been noticing that some category venues used for both the Summer Olympics and Winter Olympics have different names. All of the Winter games have YYYY Winter Olympics venues category listings while the Summer games either have YYYY Summer Olympics venues or Venues of the YYYY Summer Olympics except for the 2004 Summer Olympics which has Athens Olympics venues. I think that "Venues of the YYYY Summer/Winter Olympics" is the way to go for the Olympic venue categories. Jim856796 (talk) 16:28, 30 July 2009 (UTC)

Re: About the Olympic venue categories

Sorry about not responding to you. I remember posting it, but did not go back to the talk page to see if there was a response.

I understand your formality of the "Venues at the YYYY Summer/Winter Olympics" as a category. My reasoning for "YYYY Summer/Winter Olympic venues" was more out of simplicity, plus when you have some venues that have hosted other sporting events since then like the FIFA World Cup, most notably Wembley Stadium or Olympic Stadium (Munich), you can imagine that the amount of computer space that is requred to store that data can add up, especially with the addition of some sports and their respective venues in recent Olympics.

I think we may want to take this to the Olympics project and let the project hash it out because there may be some users who want yours while other want mine.

Grand Palais

Hello, I was just passing by the Grand Palais article and saw that it identifies "Grand Palais des Beaux-Arts" as one of its names, something I found surprising since even the official website calls it just "Grand Palais" ([1]) and the official government records call it Grand Palais des Champs-Elysées ([2]). Heck, even the French version of the article names it just "Grand Palais". I checked the history and saw that it was you who added this ([3]), and I would just like to know if you have any references that point to it being called like that. The Spanish version of the Grand Palais article has made it to featured article status and I proceeded to improve the English version of the article with text translated from the Spanish version of the article. So far, I had only gotten the introduction. I also found the "Grand Palais de Beaux-Arts" name of the Spanish version of the article. Jim856796 (talk) 18:53, 8 July 2010 (UTC)

I see... well, I think we should stick to what the English and French-language references say, regardless of what the guys over at the Spanish Wikipedia decide to write. On the English Wikipedia we prefer English-language sources. You are allowed to use Spanish and French sources, but English is preferred.

I have a limited ability in Spanish, but I try to write stub articles, and if I need help or am really unsure about something I ask native speakers to check my work.

Done The Tianjin Railway Station has also been expanded frpm previously - This is an increase of at least One Thousand One Hundred and Eleven words. The Beijing Railway Station article was increased by One Thousand Two Hundred and Fifty words and, in my opinion, this should suffice for both articles. --Jose77 (talk) 22:42, 23 October 2010 (UTC)
