Lhasa ...[edit]

I don't have a developed opinion yet on the move but, should there be support, I wondered whether it might be applicable to disambiguate from the proposed Xigazê (prefecture-level city) with something like Xigazê (district). In this case Xigazê could redirect to either title. Its just a thought but I didn't want to disrupt the proposal with a possible technicality. GregKaye 08:09, 11 July 2015 (UTC)[reply]

Wolong SAR[edit]

Hello, I've wanted to inform you that even though like you said it's in Sichuan Province, the references as well as the article states that it is a Special Administrative Region. Therefore, the template had to be added to the article. And Woking had to be added to the template.   1. Hello, Seqqis. Yes you are right. The Wolong SAR is a SAR. But not a province-level SAR, so not belong to the province-level divisions of the PRC. It is de facto a county-level division of the Sichuan province. So, unter no occasion should it be added to the template of province-level divisions of the PRC and therefor the template should NOT be added into the Wolong article. A possible way, if you insist, the county-level division template can be added into the article . If you want, i can give you thousands of references to show how many rovince-level divisions of the PRC there are, in English and in Chinese. IN no official documents the Wolong SAR is seen as a province-level SAR, So, i repeat, you are right, it is still a SAR, but not a province-level SAR. Please be aware that Wikipedia:WikiProject Canada has a standing practice that we add a Canadian topic's name in French to the infobox only if that form is actually different than the name's form in English (e.g. Montreal vs. Montréal, Greater Sudbury vs. Grand-Sudbury, British Columbia vs. Colombie-Britannique.) There's no value in adding a French name to the infobox as secondary information if that name is spelled the same way as in English (such as "Canada", "Toronto", "Gatineau" or "Ottawa".) Hainan / Dongsha[edit]

I can assure you that the Dongsha, Nansha and Xisha islands all fall under the jurisdiction of Hainan alone. Confusion over Guangdong may have arisen as Hainan only became a separate province in 1988. Very Strange Article[edit]

Hello, you seem like a person that has some insight into Chinese history. I have seen this article Cho La incident and I find it very biased and it seems unauthentic. The sources are largely Indian, and I could not find any neutral sources for this article. The casualty count and results also seems very odd. Do you have any insight into this matter? I suspect it may be a propaganda article made by nationalistic Indians who felt disappointed after their loss in the Sino-Indian War Greentea555 (talk) 08:38, 17 November 2015 (UTC)[reply]

ADF[edit]

Hello, could you please stop adding "United States" the to end of the U.S. place name in the ADF article? It goes against convention on English Wikipedia, per WP:USPLACE. Please see the first sentence: "Articles on populated places in the United States are typically titled [[Placename, State]] or [[Placename, Territory]] (the 'comma convention')." Hello,@Brycehughes. I totally can not agree with you. I see your claim and totally understand what you are talking about.But please read the first sentence of WP:USPLACE, "This page describes conventions for determining the titles of Wikipedia articles on places and for the use of place names in Wikipedia articles." In our case, it is not about the titles of articles, it is to describe a place. Arkansas is just a name of a US state, and it is not that well-known than the country. Not everyone knows that its a US-state, so we should let the reader know it's located in the United States. Otherwise you can post this issue to the talk page to let the community decide if we add "United States" or not. Thanks. Jiangyu911 (talk)

Ok. You are right, Sorry, i made a mistake in the previous argument, no offensive to you in person. I am not sure if i understand you and the WP:USPLACE right, can the word "United States" not be use, when a place is not ambiguous. When should the words "United States" be used at all? As far as i see, even in the examples here, in the articles of Elgin, Lancaster County, South Carolina and Elgin, Kershaw County, South Carolina. It is said they are in XXX, XXX, United States in the first sentences each. As well as in Arkadelphia, Arkansas, which in this case it clearly is not ambiguous. I personally, find this is kind of, let's say, American exceptionalism, after all, not all readers of Wikipedia know the name of all US-states. But, as a user of English Wikipedia, I do not want to be rude, I will obey the rules and will not against you in this issue. So, if you insist to remove "United States" from the placename without ambiguous in English-Wikipedia, you have a lot of work to do, good luck and best regards from China. User:Brycehughes I'm looking at the dab ADF and agree with Jiangyu911 about including "US". Why is the US different to Turkey?! Can you explain the logical leap from article titles in WP:USPLACE to dab pages e.g. WP:MOSDAB / MOS:DABPLACES. Article titles are not the same as disambiguation.
