Getting the hang of things[edit]

I still have much to learn about Wikipedia. Hopefully I can learn the ropes and submit some good articles and content. Jgosteli 21:45, 8 December 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Please note that content form other websites may not be copied into wikipedia pages, as this violates copyright, see WP:CV. Information, however, can and should be added, but it has to be in the editor's own words. Paragraphs form the history section of Cheadle, Alberta seem to be a direct copy from this website; they have to be reworded for two reasons: avoid copyright problems and put the information in a dry, encyclopedic tone (you may not use first person for example). Happy editing --Qyd 16:13, 12 December 2006 (UTC)[reply]

  • I'll do what I can to clean up the wording. Thanks for your edits to the page. It looks much better now. Jgosteli 16:16, 12 December 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Carseland, Alberta[edit]

It's nice to read about Carseland, Alberta but the info box doesn't seem to be showing for me. SuzanneKn 22:18, 9 January 2007 (UTC)[reply]

  • There really is no info box for this article, just the Alberta map showing its location. I do not know much on Carseland so I have only created the initial article and will leave the rest for someone who knows more information. I have an old history book I can read regarding the area, so perhaps even I can add to the article one day. Jgosteli 15:30, 26 January 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Hi Jgosteli. Unfortunately, nowadays we must be very careful when dealing with images, as copyright rules can be very strict.

On the previous two occasions you uploaded this image, you had marked it as only being suitable for use on Wikipedia, reserving all rights. Restrictions of this type are not compatible with Wikipedia's GFDL licensing, which entitles anyone to use any content from Wikipedia in any way, providing that attribution remains in place, and so we cannot accept any images restricted to use on Wikipedia alone.

As you have now uploaded it with a tag indicating the image is revoked of all reserved rights, it is perfectly acceptable on Wikipedia. Apologies if this has caused you any undue effort or nuisance. If you have any further questions, please let me know - happy editing and welcome to Wikipedia! Regards, Proto:: 15:33, 14 December 2006 (UTC)[reply]
