Jim Keith articles listed on Jerry E. Smith[edit]

Just checking before I go changing anything: was it you that made the edits to the article regarding publications "under the by-line of 'Jim Keith'" from 66.53.202.* IP addresses? I ask because, if it was someone else alleging that you wrote Keith's articles, I think they should be removed unless you did, in fact, ghostwrite for him. OTOH, if you posted them, well, I would assume you would know what you wrote. I find it somewhat difficult to believe you were writing under his name while he was alive, though I atmit the possibility. In case you're not around, I will remove those entries and move them to the Talk:Jerry E. Smith with a request for verification of authorship after the end of the AFD process if I have not heard back from you by then, assuming the article survives AFD at all. --Kgf0 19:42, 7 November 2005 (UTC)[reply]

  • Yes, I wrote them, and yes I added them to Jerry E. Smith. I forgot to sign in when I added them. Jim discovered that he liked cashing the checks for writing articles, but he didn't care so much for actually writing them. As he put it "I love writing, but I hate the paperwork." I wrote, in all, about 5 articles under his by-line, of which I still have copies of 3 (and never got paid for one). I actually did a lot of ghostwriting for Jim. For a while he was writing junk novels under a series of pseudonyms and I cleaned up and/or added to better than a dozen of 'em. I also worked, without writing credit, on several of his non-fiction books, as I mention on the pages for us. For example, I wrote the Introduction to SECRET AND SUPPRESSED. He found himself having to turn in the final draft of the intro in a few days and didn't like what he'd written, so I completely rewrote it. He got the credit and picked up my bar tab. --Jerry E. • I think it'll look better if I break them out into a separate subhead then; that should make it clearer, and also make it easier to use a standard citation style (I tend to prefer MLA style, since it's a pretty obvious and readly available guideline). --Kgf0 23:40, 7 November 2005 (UTC)[reply]
    • OK, I got what I could. When you get a chance, have a look, and if you still have the sources (I presume you keep copies of your own work), please replace instances of [n.p.] with publication data in place: publisher, date format; e.g., Washington DC: Armegeddon Press, 1901. You probably know this already: that information should appear on the title page of the book in question, if they followed normal publication style. Thanks, you're welcome, etc. --Kgf0 00:02, 8 November 2005 (UTC)[reply]
      • Looks good! Actually, I don't have a copy of the UFO UNIVERSE article -- I never got paid for that one, nor received a copy. In fact, I think the only one I have a copy of is the FATE article. I'll add page number for it when I get home. --Jerry E. Smith 22:42, 8 November 2005 (UTC)[reply]
      • I am afraid I can't add much about the article from The VIEW -- I have a few copies, I think, but I haven't a clue where. I have moved over a dozen times since that story was sold! --Jerry E. Smith 22:53, 8 November 2005 (UTC)[reply]
