I've been following the discussion since User:100110100 was last banned, and wanted to toss in my two cents. I appreciate the questions you posed - exactly the right things to be asking. I've been rooting for User:100110100 since he showed up on WP. No question that he's got issues - ask him, he'll tell you. No question that he's done some outstandingly boneheaded things. No question that WP would be entirely within its rights to permaban him. But I've looked through his contribs as anon, and see somebody who genuinely wants to be a valuable (and valued) contributor to WP. Some folks just need a little more help getting there than others. I'd love to see him be given another chance. Waitak 16:28, 27 June 2007 (UTC)

So would I, but what else can I do? Thanks!   — Jeff G. (talk|contribs) 00:26, 2 July 2007 (UTC)

Is it the software that diasables URLs in template?199.126.28.20 17:58, 30 June 2007 (UTC)

You mean as in <a>example</a>? Yes, I think the MediaWiki software does that to protect the users - try using [http://www.example.org example], which evaluates as example (or even <span class="plainlinksneverexpand">[http://www.example.org example]</span>, which evaluates as example), instead.   — Jeff G. Protection

Why does Mediawiki disable URLs in templates to diable users? How does that protect users?142.59.34.180 09:37, 21 July 2007 (UTC)

Mediawiki appears to disable the a tag (as in <anofollow" class="external free">http://www.example.org">http://www.example.org</a>) in all wikitext in order to reduce the effects of spam. What exactly did you mean by "to diable users"? Thanks!   — Jeff G. (talk|contribs) 14:52, 21 July 2007 (UTC)

Sorry, my bad. I didn't mean to type 'to diable users'.142.59.34.180 01:17, 22 July 2007 (UTC)
No problem, what DID you mean by that?   — Jeff G. (talk|contribs) 03:57, 22 July 2007 (UTC)
It was just a typo.142.59.34.180 18:33, 22 July 2007 (UTC)
Many spammers know HTML, not so many know wikitext. Why ask me?   — Jeff G. (talk|contribs) 03:57, 22 July 2007 (UTC)
But isn't this a bad argument for templates not being able to directly link to websites? Cause in ==External links== sections, they simply put []'s in the links, & then they could list websites. I thought you knew this stuff, that's why I asked you.142.59.34.180 18:33, 22 July 2007 (UTC)
