Sources

Hello, can you please add your sources to List of The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon episodes (2018)? Thanks, Boleyn (talk) 20:33, 6 January 2018 (UTC)

Can you please respond to the above? PLease see WP:SourceList, WP:BURDEN and WP:Communication is required. Thanks, Boleyn (talk) 07:47, 13 January 2018 (UTC)
Please respond to these messages. Boleyn (talk) 12:32, 14 January 2018 (UTC)
There is a source. The Lineups link and the link to the official page have lists of guests. No previous pages of these shows have sources for every night. If you want something done, maybe do it yourself instead of harassing me. Jdavi333 (talk) 21:29, 14 January 2018 (UTC)
There is a significant difference between messaging someone politely and harassing them. This has no clear sources, it has 'external links', which means 'suggestions for further reading' not 'sources used in the writing of this article.' I also could not add your sources, as I didn't know what they were. Thanks for finally responding, I'll correct it in the article. Best wishes, Boleyn (talk) 22:20, 16 January 2018 (UTC)
I wasn't trying to harass you. If anything it was the opposite. I do not live on Wikipedia and cannot answer every message immediately. Additionally, you are welcome to start amending the article in question, good luck at amending all the previous years' articles, in addition to articles relating to Jay Leno's tenure and all the other hosts. Jdavi333 (talk) 22:55, 16 January 2018 (UTC)
I think you have misunderstood my message, you had accused me of harassment. I can't solve all issues in all Wikipedia articles - not without some superpowers! - but try my best with the articles I can get to. Best wishes, Boleyn (talk) 16:16, 19 January 2018 (UTC)

Live scoring

Live scoring is a violation of WP:CRYSTAL. Bmf 051 (talk) 21:21, 14 January 2018 (UTC)

[1] Am I happy that you're not breaking the rules? Yes. Now just do it in the first place next time. Bmf 051 (talk) 21:25, 14 January 2018 (UTC)
And just to refute what you said about teams never scoring 10 points in 1:30, see the Heidi Game. The Raiders scored 14 points in just over a minute. Bmf 051 (talk) 21:47, 14 January 2018 (UTC)

List of Super Bowl Broadcasters

Why Do you do this you need to stop this It is not Crystralballish that is 3 years and it is never too soon don't say that again or else GET YOUR LAZY BUTTS IN GEAR NOW. 68.102.39.189 (talk) 01:08, 23 January 2018 (UTC)

I'm not sure what you're trying to get at, but your edits are certainly a violation of WP:CRYSTAL. The broadcasters for future Super Bowls are certainly not set. You have no idea if Al Michaels will be working for NBC, or even if he will be alive, in 4 years. Jdavi333 (talk) 14:41, 23 January 2018 (UTC)

Current and former NFL stadium projects

Undid revision 837547043 by Chi Sigma (talk) While the information in this new section certainly is of note, this is a "list" article. This information would be better suited for the individual stadium and/or team articles.

I disagree. List articles, by definition, pull together information that's better suited to individual articles. Lists are good lists if they present that information in a useful or interesting way. They're not good lists because they conform to a Platonic ideal of a list. Besides, what I added is in fact a list! I could squash it into a table with a "Notes" column, but that would just make it really awkward for mobile users. Chi Sigma (talk) 11:56, 22 April 2018 (UTC)

@Chi Sigma: While that may be true, it may not a good idea to drastically change the entire format of an article in such a way without a broader consensus. Additionally, while you may think there isn't a reason to "conform to a Platonic ideal of a list", Wikipedia does have guideline as to what a list article should look like and how it should be formatted. Jdavi333 (talk) 16:58, 23 April 2018 (UTC)
@Jdavi333: It is a good idea. Be bold! Wikipedia does indeed have guidelines about what a list article should look like. They don't say "no lists of potential NFL stadiums". They do say "a well-written lead section is important, especially if there is little or no other non-list content". So clearly you're allowed to add useful content to list articles even if it doesn't look like a list. Chi Sigma (talk) 17:36, 23 April 2018 (UTC)

Next meeting edit on Beltway Series

You seem to be insisting that we do not know anything about the next Beltway Series meeting between the Baltimore Orioles and Washington Nationals because there is a chance that they might meet in the World Series. This is mistaken on a couple of points. First, the Beltway Series consists solely of the regular-season "natural rivalry" series between the teams, which lasts four or six games depending on the season. It does not include any potential World Series. I suppose that the press will nickname any meeting of the two teams in the World Series as a "Beltway Series" – like "Subway Series" in New York City –- but his would be a different context and different meaning from the subject of this article. If a World Series meeting ever occurs between the teams, then that confusion would be addressed via an "about" navigation template at the top of the article saying something like This article is about the regular-season "natural rivalry" series played annually. For the World Series meeting between the teams sometimes also called the "Beltway Series," see 20xx World Series.

In the meantime, it is uninformative and misleading to say that the next Beltway Series meeting between the teams in the context of this article is TBD. While we don't know the exact date, and won't until the 2019 schedule is released in September, we do know that the two teams won't meet again in the regular-season Beltway Series (the topic of this article) until 2019. It's not worth having a reversion contest over, but we need to nip in the bud any notion that a World Series meeting would be part of this article or that we have no idea that the next Beltway Series "natural rivalry" game will be in 2019.Mdnavman (talk) 15:07, 22 June 2018 (UTC)mdnavman

Also, FYI, look at the Subway Series article about the Mets and Yankees, which clearly draws the distinction I make above and makes clear that the article si about the annual regular-season meeting, mentioning the 2000 World Series "Subway Series" as a distinbctly separate topic with its own article. Mdnavman (talk) 15:09, 22 June 2018 (UTC)mdnavman

@Mdnavman: I respectfully disagree. If they indeed would ever meet in the World Series, those games would certainly be included in this article, in addition to the separate WS article. This article already mentions that possibility. I just think that as a matter of fact, it is inaccurate to write 2019 as their next meeting; an Encyclopedia's first responsibility is to the accurate representation of fact. Jdavi333 (talk) 15:18, 22 June 2018 (UTC)
Okay. The article does not discuss the World Series in any context that would indicate that World Series games between the teams would be part of the Beltway Series; it merely discusses the World Series in the context of the relative success of each team over the years. Can you cite a source that verifies that World Series games between the teams would be considered part of the annual "natural rivalry" Beltway Series? I have not found a source for that does that but if you have one, we could cite it and add a paragraph to that effect to the article. Mdnavman (talk) 19:33, 22 June 2018 (UTC)mdnavman
Perhaps another source of confusion is that I understand the info box to refer solely to meetings in the annual regular season Beltway Series (i.e.m the topic of the article), not any other meetings between the teams (which could only be in the World Series). You seem to be expanding the article's scope to include any meeting between the teams, meaning both Beltway Series games and World Series games. That would make this article into one about all meetings between the teams, rather than about the annual Beltway Series. The next meeting between the teams could be in the 2018 World Series (theortically, at least), but the next annual Beltway Series meeting between them will not be – and is guaranteed not to be – until 2019, regardless of the 2018 World Series. And in that context, putting the next meeting as "TBD" is not wrong (i.e., we won't know the exact date of the next Beltway Series game in 2019 until the 2019 schedule comes out in September), but it is less accurate than saying "2019" in the meatime, because 2019 is guaranteed to be the next meeting. After all, as you say (and I fully agree with you), the encyclopedia′s first responsibility is to the accurate representation of fact. Mdnavman (talk) 19:44, 22 June 2018 (UTC)mdnavman
@Mdnavman: The World Series is clearly mentioned here. In addition, the Subway Series article clearly mentions the World Series in the infobox. As does the Bay Bridge Series article, and they lists the series results of each WS meeting. I think it should be automatically assumed the rivalry, like all other sports rivalries, includes every game played between the relevant teams. The Ravens–Steelers rivalry certainly does not end at the end of the regular season. Jdavi333 (talk) 20:35, 22 June 2018 (UTC)
I take all your points. It's just that, without the two teams ever having met in the World Series, we don't know yet if "Beltway Series" will be the term applied to a World Series between them. Of course, it could be. Meanwhile, the only evidence we have so far is that the term "Beltway Series" only applies to the annual four- or six-game regular-season "natural rivalry" interleague series. If the two teams make the World Series in 2018, and if the term "Beltway Series" is used for that World Series, then, yes, we are more correct now to say the next meeting is "TBD." Once one or the other team is eliminated from postseason play, then the next meeting becomes "2019." Once that date is set (in the 2019 schedule released in September 2018), we can use that date. And, if the two teams ever meet in the World Series, then we'll find out if "Beltway Series" is the term also used for the World Series and will know whether or not it should be addressed in the "Beltway Series" article. And a decision about that can wait until it happens. In the meantime, I am glad you have taken an interest in the article and are looking out for its best interests. Mdnavman (talk)mdnavman

Hi Jdavi333, I've created a proposal to begin a WikiProject Georgetown University. Since you're a student at Georgetown, I thought you might be interested to know of this proposal. If you might like to participate in this proposed project or have thoughts on whether it's a good idea, I'd appreciate it if you weighed in. Ergo Sum 05:07, 23 November 2018 (UTC)
