Imminent suspension of administrative permissions due to inactivity

Information icon Established policy provides for the removal of the administrative permissions of users who have made fewer than 100 edits over a 60-month period. Your administrative permissions will be removed if you do not return to the required activity level before the beginning of January 2023.

Inactive administrators are encouraged to engage with the project in earnest rather than to make token edits to avoid loss of administrative permissions. Resources and support for re-engaging with the project are available at Wikipedia:WikiProject Editor Retention/administrators. If you do not intend to re-engage with the project in the foreseeable future, please consider voluntarily resigning your administrative permissions by making a request at the bureaucrats' noticeboard.

You are invited to join the Wikimedia NYC community for our WikiWednesday Salon, with in-person at Brooklyn Public Library by Grand Army Plaza, in the Central Library's Info Commons Lab, as well as an online-based participation option. No experience of anything at all is required. All are welcome!

We are proud to announce that monthly PIZZA has returned!

All attendees are subject to Wikimedia NYC's Code of Conduct. In addition, to participate in person you should be vaccinated and also be sure to respect others' personal space, and we may limit overall attendance size if appropriate. Brooklyn Public Library encourages the wearing of masks when indoors, and especially be mindful of those in your proximity.

Hi, I just saw that you deleted this page per G3 as a blatant hoax. However, I was doing some research, and am not fully convinced this is a hoax, and even if it is one, it's not immediately obvious. [1] and [2] appear to describe a painting by this name and artist and predate the creation of the en.wiki article. Additionally, since this article was three years old, I strongly suspect that if it were an obvious enough hoax to qualify for G3, it would have been deleted long ago. As such, I believe it may be a good idea to reverse this deletion and send the article to AfD (with the tagger's rationale), and there seek consensus as to whether this is a hoax and should be deleted. I'm asking you in the interest of not wheel warring. Complex/Rational 18:56, 31 December 2022 (UTC)

@ComplexRational: Happy to revert if you're questioning it and start an AfD. I did find some potential examples of art connected to title/name but it was very different and neither a painting or similarly styled which made me lean towards it being correctly labeled as a hoax but imo any question on a speedy is good enough to talk more :D . I've reverted my template adjustment, will undelete and start a discussion shortly. James of UR (talk) 19:04, 31 December 2022 (UTC)
Thanks for taking this into consideration. Once you open the AfD, I'll copy my comment there. I'm unsure about this myself because I did see three different artworks, but considering their label and sourcing, hopefully a discussion can clear this up. Complex/Rational 19:16, 31 December 2022 (UTC)

Sun Jan 15: Wikipedia Day returns to NYC!

Sunday January 15: Wikipedia Day 2023 NYC
Wikipedia Day NYC is back in-person at Jefferson Market Library, cake included!

You are invited to join the Wikimedia NYC community for our Wikipedia Day 2023 at Jefferson Market Library in Greenwich Village, a Wikipedia and Public Domain Day celebration and mini-conference as part of birthday festivities marking the project's founding in 2001. In addition to the party, the event features presentations by Jason Scott of the Internet Archive and Anne Hunnell Chen of the International (Digital) Dura-Europos Archive, panels, and, of course, lightning talks. Newcomers are very welcome! Bring your friends and colleagues!

And there will be WIKICAKE.

1 - 5PM at Jefferson Market Library, 425 Sixth Avenue in Manhattan
After 5PM, migration to afterparty at Ace Hotel, 20 West 29th St
