Copying within Wikipedia requires proper attribution[edit]

Information icon Thank you for your contributions to Wikipedia. It appears that you copied or moved text from Great Mosque of Mecca into List of mosques in Saudi Arabia. While you are welcome to re-use Wikipedia's content, here or elsewhere, Wikipedia's licensing does require that you provide attribution to the original contributor(s). When copying within Wikipedia, this is supplied at minimum in an edit summary at the page into which you've copied content, disclosing the copying and linking to the copied page, e.g., copied content from [[page name]]; see that page's history for attribution. It is good practice, especially if copying is extensive, to also place a properly formatted {{copied}} template on the talk pages of the source and destination. The attribution has been provided for this situation, but if you have copied material between pages before, even if it was a long time ago, please provide attribution for that duplication. You can read more about the procedure and the reasons at Wikipedia:Copying within Wikipedia. Thank you. If you are the sole author of the prose that was moved, attribution is not required. — Diannaa 🍁 (talk) 20:51, 29 May 2017 (UTC)[reply]

Possible duplication?[edit]

Hi, is yore newly made article, Nurul Islam Great Mosque, a duplication of Nurul Islam Mosque? If so, would you be able to merge the two together into the older article (Nurul Islam Mosque)? Cheers, Anarchyte (work | talk) 15:14, 17 June 2017 (UTC)[reply]

Ways to improve Agung Darussalam Sumbawa Barat Mosque[edit]

Hi, I'm Mduvekot. JahlilMA, thanks for creating Agung Darussalam Sumbawa Barat Mosque!

I've just tagged the page, using our page curation tools, as having some issues to fix. This is incomprehensible: "The shape of the building became characteristics of various administrative activities of the government and community of West Sumbawa regency." Sorry, I don't mean to be impolite, but that does not make sense. I have the impression that you translated the sentence from the Bahasa Indonesia wikipedia, which reads: "Bentuk ini pula menjadi ciri khas setiap bangunan dan berbagai aktivitas administrasi pemerintah dan masyarakat kabupaten Sumbawa Barat." Please make this clearer.

The tags can be removed by you or another editor once the issues they mention are addressed. If you have questions, you can leave a comment on my talk page. Or, for more editing help, talk to the volunteers at the Teahouse.

Indonesian mosques[edit]

Just a heads up: the words agung, raya, besar, jami‘ in Indonesian mosque names indicate a type of mosque and thus are not part of the actual name. These terms all mean "great/grand" as in the "main" mosque of a given region or locality. I have for example renamed Agung Darussalam Sumbawa Barat Mosque into Darussalam Great Mosque (West Sumbawa)

Oh, and please do not use translation software like Google Translate. Such WP:MACHINETRANSLATIONs do not properly translate text into English, leaving us with unintelligible gibberish and broken links. Sumbawa Barat for example was left untranslated, while we have a perfectly fine English translation, "West Sumbawa". --HyperGaruda (talk) 07:47, 28 June 2017 (UTC)[reply]

The article List of mosques in Northern Cyprus has been proposed for deletion because of the following concern:

No evidence that the subject meets WP:LISTN notability.

While all constructive contributions to Wikipedia are appreciated, pages may be deleted for any of several reasons.

You may prevent the proposed deletion by removing the {{proposed deletion/dated}} notice, but please explain why in your edit summary or on the article's talk page.

Please consider improving the page to address the issues raised. Removing {{proposed deletion/dated}} will stop the proposed deletion process, but other deletion processes exist. In particular, the speedy deletion process can result in deletion without discussion, and articles for deletion allows discussion to reach consensus for deletion. - MrX 19:46, 15 July 2017 (UTC)[reply]

If this is the first article that you have created, you may want to read the guide to writing your first article.

You may want to consider using the Article Wizard to help you create articles.

A tag has been placed on Saif ed-Din al-Boharsi requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under section G12 of the criteria for speedy deletion, because the page appears to be an unambiguous copyright infringement. This page appears to be a direct copy from http://eurasia.travel/uzbekistan/cities/bukhara/mausoleum_of_saifetdin_boharziy/. For legal reasons, we cannot accept copyrighted text or images taken from other web sites or printed material, and as a consequence, your addition will most likely be deleted. You may use external websites or other printed material as a source of information, but not as a source of sentences. This part is crucial: say it in your own words. Wikipedia takes copyright violations very seriously and persistent violators will be blocked from editing.

If the external website or image belongs to you, and you want to allow Wikipedia to use the text or image — which means allowing other people to use it for any reason — then you must verify that externally by one of the processes explained at Wikipedia:Donating copyrighted materials. The same holds if you are not the owner but have their permission. If you are not the owner and do not have permission, see Wikipedia:Requesting copyright permission for how you may obtain it. You might want to look at Wikipedia's copyright policy for more details, or ask a question here.

If you think this page should not be deleted for this reason, you may contest the nomination by visiting the page and clicking the button labelled "Contest this speedy deletion". This will give you the opportunity to explain why you believe the page should not be deleted. However, be aware that once a page is tagged for speedy deletion, it may be removed without delay. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag from the page yourself, but do not hesitate to add information in line with Wikipedia's policies and guidelines. Wikipedia and copyright[edit]

Control copyright icon Hello JahlilMA, and welcome to Wikipedia. All or some of your addition(s) to Zuhd have been removed, as it appears to have added copyrighted material without evidence of permission from the copyright holder. While we appreciate your contributing to Wikipedia, there are certain things you must keep in mind about using information from your sources to avoid copyright or plagiarism issues here.

  • You can only copy/translate a small amount of a source, and you must mark what you take as a direct quotation with double quotation marks (") and cite the source using an inline citation. You can read about this at Wikipedia:Non-free content in the sections on "text". See also Help:Referencing for beginners, for how to cite sources here.
  • Aside from limited quotation, you must put all information in your own words and structure, in proper paraphrase. Following the source's words too closely can create copyright problems, so it is not permitted here; see Wikipedia:Close paraphrasing. (There is a college-level introduction to paraphrase, with examples, hosted by the Online Writing Lab of Purdue.) Even when using your own words, you are still, however, asked to cite your sources to verify information and to demonstrate that the content is not original research.
  • Our primary policy on using copyrighted content is Wikipedia:Copyrights. You may also want to review Wikipedia:Copy-paste.
  • If you own the copyright to the source you want to copy or are a designated agent, you may be able to license that text so that we can publish it here. However, there are steps that must be taken to verify that license before you do. See Wikipedia:Donating copyrighted materials.
  • In very rare cases (that is, for sources that are public domain or compatibly licensed), it may be possible to include greater portions of a source text. However, please seek help at the help desk before adding such content to the article. 99.9% of sources may not be added in this way, so it is necessary to seek confirmation first. If you do confirm that a source is public domain or compatibly licensed, you will still need to provide full attribution; see Wikipedia:Plagiarism for the steps you need to follow.
  • Also note that Wikipedia articles may not be copied or translated without attribution. If you want to copy or translate from another Wikipedia project or article, you can, but please follow the steps in Wikipedia:Copying within Wikipedia.

It's very important that contributors understand and follow these practices, as policy requires that people who persistently do not must be blocked from editing. If you have any questions about this, you are welcome to leave me a message on my talk page. Thank you. Dlohcierekim (talk) 15:28, 20 September 2017 (UTC)[reply]

The content was a direct copy from a different Wikipedia article Zuhd in Islam. Basically, I wanted to rename the article from Zuhd in Islam to Zuhd, but the article with the latter name was already created, so I copy pasted the content in merging style. The original article came to the current form more or less during 2013-2015. Unless this original content was proved a copyright infringement, which I doubt so since it was left as it is for more than two years, I oppose the removal of the content from the article Zuhd and request the reversion. Hi, Thanks for creating the interesting article on the Berrani Mosque. I've made a couple of fixes to the grammar in some sentences - I notice these were reverted last time so am mentioning them here to let you know the intention is not to change the content, just improve the sentence structure.

I'm a bit confused about the use of the word "designated" in the sentence on "Etymology" - is it possible to give this a bit more detail for the benefit of readers? -- Euryalus (talk) 23:13, 8 January 2018 (UTC)[reply]

Ways to improve Casbah of Dellys[edit]

Hi, I'm Jack1956. JahlilMA, thanks for creating Casbah of Dellys!

I've just tagged the page, using our page curation tools, as having some issues to fix. Article relies heavily on one source

The tags can be removed by you or another editor once the issues they mention are addressed. If you have questions, you can leave a comment on my talk page. Or, for more editing help, talk to the volunteers at the Teahouse.

Jack1956 (talk) 22:30, 10 January 2018 (UTC)[reply]

If this is the first article that you have created, you may want to read the guide to writing your first article.

You may want to consider using the Article Wizard to help you create articles.

A tag has been placed on Nuseir Yassin, requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under section G4 of the criteria for speedy deletion, because the page appears to be a repost of material that was previously deleted following a deletion discussion, such as at Articles for deletion. When a page has substantially identical content to that of a page deleted after a discussion, and any changes in the content do not address the reasons for which the material was previously deleted, it may be deleted at any time.

If you think this page should not be deleted for this reason, you may contest the nomination by visiting the page and clicking the button labelled "Contest this speedy deletion". This will give you the opportunity to explain why you believe the page should not be deleted. However, be aware that once a page is tagged for speedy deletion, it may be deleted without delay. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag from the page yourself, but do not hesitate to add information in line with Wikipedia's policies and guidelines. If the page is deleted, and you wish to retrieve the deleted material for future reference or improvement, then please contact the deleting administrator, or if you have already done so, you can place a request here. This way you don't have to cut and paste things yourself. --HyperGaruda (talk) 20:44, 25 January 2018 (UTC)[reply]

Page move from September 2019 Indonesian protests and riots to 2019 Indonesian protests and riots[edit]

Information icon Hi, and thank you for your contributions to Wikipedia. It appears that you tried to give September 2019 Indonesian protests and riots a different title by copying its content and pasting either the same content, or an edited version of it, into 2019 Indonesian protests and riots. This is known as a "cut-and-paste move", and it is undesirable because it splits the page history, which is legally required for attribution. Instead, the software used by Wikipedia has a feature that allows pages to be moved to a new title together with their edit history.

In most cases, once your account is four days old and has ten edits, you should be able to move an article yourself using the "Move" tab at the top of the page (the tab may be hidden in a dropdown menu for you). This both preserves the page history intact and automatically creates a redirect from the old title to the new. If you cannot perform a particular page move yourself this way (e.g. because a page already exists at the target title), please follow the instructions at requested moves to have it moved by someone else. Also, if there are any other pages that you moved by copying and pasting, even if it was a long time ago, please list them at Wikipedia:Requests for history merge. Thank you. The article cites " Azizah, ddk 2012" but no such source is listed in the bibliography. Can you please add? Or is it supposed to reference "Azizah, Etek; Mursjid, A.M; Arfan, B.R. (2007)"? Thanks, Renata (talk) 18:12, 11 November 2020 (UTC)[reply]

Ikatan Keluarga Madura moved to draftspace[edit]

An article you recently created, Ikatan Keluarga Madura, is not suitable as written to remain published. It needs more citations from reliable, independent sources. (?) Information that can't be referenced should be removed (verifiability is of central importance on Wikipedia). I've moved your draft to draftspace (with a prefix of "Draft:" before the article title) where you can incubate the article with minimal disruption. When you feel the article meets Wikipedia's general notability guideline and thus is ready for mainspace, please click on the "Submit your draft for review!" button at the top of the page. Missing cite in Al-Munir[edit]

The article cites "Junus 1980" and "Laffan 2003" but no such sources are listed in the bibliography. Can you please add? Also, suggest installing a script to highlight such errors in the future. All you need to do is copy and paste importScript('User:Svick/HarvErrors.js'); // Backlink: [[User:Svick/HarvErrors.js]] to your common.js page. Thanks, Renata3 18:46, 10 October 2021 (UTC)[reply]
