I have sent you a note about a page you started[edit]

Hello, Independent trucker. Thank you for your work on Emilio Vavarella. User:Netherzone, while examining this page as a part of our page curation process, had the following comments:

Thank you for creating the article on this interesting artist. If his work is included in the permanent collections of pubic institutions like museums or national galleries, it would be great to have a section with that content.

To reply, leave a comment here and begin it with {{Re|Netherzone}}. Please remember to sign your reply with ~~~~. (Message delivered via the Page Curation tool, on behalf of the reviewer.)

@Netherzone: Thanks for the feedback, I'll see what I can find and see about adding a section. If you have any examples of similar Wikipedia pages that I could model the section off of, I'd appreciate that. Otherwise I can take a look myself for ideas.

Thanks, Independent trucker (talk) 14:13, 31 March 2023 (UTC)[reply]

Hi, @Independent trucker, have a look at Dieter Froese or Grace Knowlton - the collections section is usually last or towards the bottom of an article. Note that each of the collections has a source. Primary sources are fine for collection verification, so linking directly to the page in the actual museum collection is actually ideal. A news source (Magazine or newspaper article, or book is fine too but I personally prefer direct links to the collections themselves, and I know that several other editors who work on visual arts themes feel the same.) What is important is that it's not connected directly to the artist's or their gallerists website (too closely connected, could be viewed as a conflict of interest). The way I look for collections is usually by doing a search with the artist name in quotation marks + the words "museum collection" (also in quotes.) If that doesn't yield results, I look at some of the museums where the artist has exhibited to see if the museum collection acquired any of their works that were exhibited. Sometimes I do an image search and see where that image is coming from if it's a museum website, then I go to their collections search tool (not all institutions have a search feature, but the larger ones do.) Hope that is helpful ~! Netherzone (talk) 15:16, 31 March 2023 (UTC)[reply]
@Netherzone: this is extremely helpful. Thank you for the examples and the guidance! Very appreciated.
Thanks and enjoy your weekend, Independent trucker (talk) 15:22, 31 March 2023 (UTC)[reply]
