Hullo and welcome to my talk page. Please leave a message. Comments, questions, complaints, bribes, rants, compliments, insults, interpretive dances, and suggestions welcome. No death threats, marriage proposals, or vandalism (unless it's funny), please. Thanx.

This is an automated message from CorenSearchBot. I have performed a web search with the contents of Thevetia peruviana, and it appears to be very similar to another wikipedia page: Thevetia. It is possible that you have accidentally duplicated contents, or made an error while creating the page— you might want to look at the pages and see if that is the case.

This message was placed automatically, and it is possible that the bot is confused and found similarity where none actually exists. If that is the case, you can remove the tag from the article and it would be appreciated if you could drop a note on the maintainer's talk page. CorenSearchBot (talk) 06:42, 17 June 2008 (UTC)

  • Yes yes yes, sorry Bot. Give me two seconds to move stuff from one page to the other, yeesh! lol -IceCreamAntisocial (talk) 06:47, 17 June 2008 (UTC)

For your information, including plant subclasses in taxoboxes is problematical (see discussion at WikiProject Plants), and for most taxa not in accordance with the guidelines at Taxobox usage Lavateraguy (talk) 12:50, 3 July 2008 (UTC)

Username

Interesting username. But I repeatedly failed to understand what does this mean. Otolemur crassicaudatus (talk) 06:39, 2 August 2008 (UTC)

  • Uh well it's a play on "ice cream social", which is a placid, prissy social event much like a tea party, but with ice cream. Of course, a tea party would be funnier if everyone there had antisocial personality disorder. I know, it's stupid. I picked the name in like 2 seconds never thinking that I would use it so much. Oh well, hey? - IceCreamAntisocial (talk) 07:13, 2 August 2008 (UTC)

Columbia College Chicago

Hey there ICA, just wondering if there was a specific reason you removed David Cromer & Albert Williams from "notable faculty members." It's not a big deal, but since I'm the one who added them I'm interested in knowing why. http://en.wikipedia.org/w/index.php?title=Columbia_College_Chicago&diff=227336072&oldid=226751289 Fitfatfighter (talk) 18:03, 7 August 2008 (UTC)

  • Hello! I'm in the habit of removing names from lists of people if 1. they don't have a Wikipedia article explaining their notability or 2. don't have a link to a reliable secondary source such as a newspaper article that shows their importance in their field. I do this because there are a lot of articles that list people arbitrarily, and basically anybody can list themselves, their grandma, and their dog to 100 articles if they want to. I'm picky about the notability guidelines for living people. However, if you want to put back the people you added, please feel free! I know you added them in good faith. I won't remove them again! I appreciate your dropping me a note. Cheers, IceCreamAntisocial (talk) 20:50, 7 August 2008 (UTC)

I just wanted to let you know that I undid your edit to this list [Bluegrass]. The list is policed fairly closely for vanity and vandalism. Most of the redlinks should get articles, and all of them should be included in the list. In fact several of them are members of the International Bluegrass Music Hall of Fame! Thank you. Cmadler (talk) 18:20, 25 August 2008 (UTC)

Although appreciating your (substantial) effort to improve it by trimming red links, I did the same for your deletions from the recorded classical pianists list, for the same reasons and others outlined on the list's discussion page. Admittedly, I seem somehow to have fallen more or less solo into the role of "traffic cop" for this list, its originator evidently having become distracted with other pursuits, but, as you'll find by consulting its discussion page and that of its sister, List of classical pianists, in which I'm also playing an active maintenance role, I try to weed out or annotate any entries that are likely spurious. I won't state with quite so much certainty that every name listed is valid--I'm suspicious of the mis-filed recent addition Aria Chelabian, for instance, and she remains where she is precisely because I'm still trying to figure out what to do about her--but I've found support for including all but at most maybe half a dozen. Those I gave the benefit of the doubt because not every recorded pianist can be found via Google or on Amazon! Now, all that said, I do appreciate any and all help with the list, and I'd welcome your interest in confirming individual names that don't belong there, maintaining the correlation between "recorded" and "general," etc. If you'd care to compare, er, notes, drop me a line on my talk page. Makeover travel

Thanks for tagging this article for speedy deletion as an attack page. I happened across Wikipedia:Attack page after I had done the AfD and started the process of withdrawing the nomination and tagging it, but stopped because I wasn't completely certain than it didn't just apply to people (since it talks about "personal attacks"), although I feel logically it should apply to any subject. Thank you for taking the initiative and tagging it. Jll (talk) 18:02, 13 September 2008 (UTC)

Coretomic

Hello. Could you help me as to why you are editing this article (Coretomic). It is factual information about the company. Nothing in it has been written in a way that promotes ideas or concepts.

However, I appreciate you monitoring and making Wikipedia great. - ajcard920

  • Hello. Anyone is free to edit any article on Wikipedia. I put the conflict of interest tag on it because the person listed right there in the article as the marketing director of the company sounds a whole lot like your user name - it's pretty obvious you are the marketing director of this company and you want the world knowing this. Sure, it's your job to market the company, but Wikipedia is not the place to do that. You have a conflict of interest, plain and simple, thus the tag. It doesn't matter how "factual" the article is. If a company or anything else is notable, someone unrelated to it will eventually write an article about it. The people who work for the company shouldn't. Thanx. Cheers, IceCreamAntisocial (talk) 02:26, 11 October 2008 (UTC)
Hi Ice, I had the same impression. I am concerned that Ajcard920 has removed the advertising tag and added external links to the article without providing good reasons. Both Coretomic, Inc. and Interactive Contract Manufacturing show the same problems. Have a nice weekend. - 83.254.214.192 (talk) 15:53, 11 October 2008 (UTC)

Hi there!

I know you only have one contribution to the article Bernie Digris, but it is obviously hardly notable enough to be on the site in my opinion. Do you think it should be listed at WP:AFD? I posted a comment about this on the page's talk so if you could reply there as well as on my talk page, that would be great. Thanks! Jock Boy 19:35, 11 October 2008 (UTC)

Allright then. I removed the {{notability}} tag on the page and notified the user that I was wrong. Jock Boy 22:03, 11 October 2008 (UTC)

Alessandro Maletti

Speedy criteria A7 is a bit ambiguous when the editor makes a claim that supports some type of notability but it does not support the minimum notability for articles for Wikipedia. This was the case with Alessandro Maletti. To err on the side of caution, I replaced your speedy-deletion tag with a PROD, and fully intend to take this through to AFD unless new information surfaces showing that this person is indeed wiki-notable. I've notified the original editor. davidwr/(talk)/(contribs)/(e-mail) 23:23, 6 December 2008 (UTC)

First off, I apologize for the spam. You are receiving this message because you have indicated that you are in Southern California or interested in Southern California topics (either via category or WikiProject).

I would like to invite you to the Los Angeles edition of Wikipedia:Wikipedia Loves Art, a photography scavenger hunt to be held at the Los Angeles County Museum of Art (LACMA) on Saturday, February 28, 2009, from 1:00 to 7:00 PM. All photos are intended for use in Wikipedia articles or on Wikimedia Commons. There will be a prize available for the person who gets the most photos on the list.

If you don't like art, why not come just to meet your fellow Wikipedians. Apparently, we haven't had a meetup in this area since June 2006!

If you are interested in attending, please add your name to Wikipedia:Wikipedia Loves Art#Los Angeles County Museum of Art. Please make a note if you are traveling to the area (train or plane) and need transportation, which can probably be arranged via carpool, but we need time to coordinate. Lodging is as of right now out of scope, but we could discuss that if enough people are interested.

Thank you and I hope to see you there! howcheng {chat} 23:59, 9 January 2009 (UTC) Please refrain from creating inappropriate pages such as Clarkia epilobioides. It is considered vandalism. If you would like to experiment, use the sandbox. Whip it! Now whip it good! 03:41, 25 March 2009 (UTC)

Wildflower ID

Hi IceCreamAntisocial, can you tell me what this is? It's a small flower, low growing, at about 2,500 ft. elevation in the northern California foothills. And good work on all the Cal. wildflower articles! First Light (talk) 20:43, 19 April 2009 (UTC)

  • Thanks! Sorry I have no clue what the flower is! -IceCreamAntisocial (talk) 23:54, 19 April 2009 (UTC)
    • Maybe it's a species of Crocus or at least in the Crocoideae subfamily of Iridaceae. The Crocus Pages site has a lot of photos of Crocus flowers which seem to share some common features. « D. Trebbien (talk) 02:33, 16 February 2010 (UTC)

Plant and Garden wiki

Hi , I'm writing to you because you've edited many of the plant articles. I wanted to let you know about a plants-specific wiki site which you might be interested in contributing to. The site focuses specifically on how to grow any plant. Since Wikipedia is not a how-to, and articles are not allowed to be written as a guide on how to grow plants, two years ago I started http://www.plants.am - a wiki solely to address that topic (much like how wikitravel.org is solely to advise tourists visiting a country or city on their destination).

An example of how the sites differ can be seen immediately by comparing the Wikipedia article on Asparagus, with the Plants.am Asparagus article. Many of the articles currently on the site are placeholder articles taken from Wikipedia which are being rewritten from scratch, or shells of articles using new templates. However, a core of new articles like the Asparagus article (which still has a lot of room to grow) are being created, and the undertaking is huge. Perhaps you have some materials you can add which are not appropriate for Wikipedia. If you have any questions at all about this new resource, feel free to contact me on my user page here or on Plants.am. Thanks! --RaffiKojian (talk) 00:49, 15 May 2009 (UTC)

Thanks for saving my face on that image...I'm surprised I missed the copyright symbol on it when I uploaded it last year. Back then, I hadn't discovered yet that the images on the US-Government-owned PLANTS database are mostly copyrighted. Boy, was disappointing when I found that out...and since then I've been double-checking before I upload.

Have a wonderful day, Bob the Wikipedian (talkcontribs) 19:19, 20 May 2009 (UTC)

Aspidotis victoriana

I don't have access to much of the recent literature, but it doesn't look like any of the recent authors are recognizing A. victoriana, although it did make a few publications in the early 1960s when the lacefern genera were being resorted. I can only assume that it is now being considered simply a variant form of A. californica. I'm still a real novice at this process. Should it just be included as a deprecated synonym for the current species in the sidebar (A. californica is missing a ton of those, including all the way back in the late 1800s when it was in Hypolepis), instead of having its own page? Sir Landmass Weevil (talk) 17:11, 26 May 2009 (UTC)

  • Well the thing is, there is no reference to it anywhere, so it doesn't pass the verifiability requirement for Wikipedia articles. Not everything in the world can be found with a Google search, but a species of plant should at least be mentioned somewhere. I can't even see where it's listed as a synonym. But if it is currently treated as part of another species, the article should be merged to that species. Let me know if there's anything I can do. Thanx, cheers, -IceCreamAntisocial (talk) 23:11, 26 May 2009 (UTC)

Ribes divaricatum

Hi IceCreamAntisocial; I'm an admirer of your work. I've uploaded a number of images of Ribes divaricatum on Commons:Ribes divaricatum. Its range includes California (although R. d. subsp. divaricatum does not). I wonder if you'd be interested in writing an article for the species, please? Walter Siegmund (talk) 17:52, 27 May 2009 (UTC)

Hi Ice. Could I have you glance at the above article, I'm concerned if it's a hoax. Had to DEPROD in a hurry, or it would have been deleted, as the PROD was already expired when I saw it. Please reply at that talk page. Thanks, Power.corrupts (talk) 21:02, 1 June 2009 (UTC)

Italicising article titles

Hi. Can you tell me how to force article titles to be italicised, as in your recent edit to Trinia glauca? Thanks SP-KP (talk) 17:43, 8 June 2009 (UTC)

  • Yeah if you put a taxobox in the article it will automatically be italicized, as long as you leave out the "name" line in the taxobox. -IceCreamAntisocial (talk) 23:41, 8 June 2009 (UTC)
    • Hey there. Saw the conversation and thought I'd leave a few links. You can also use {{italictitle}}. There's a bot request right now to italicize all species and genera articles; pop on over to Wikipedia:Bots/Requests for approval/Polbot 13 and leave your thoughts on the discussion, if you feel so moved. Proposed deletion of Chiari & Syringomyelia Foundation

A proposed deletion template has been added to the article Chiari & Syringomyelia Foundation, suggesting that it be deleted according to the proposed deletion process because of the following concern:

Claims notability of charity without little relevant details or citations; speedy deletion decline

All contributions are appreciated, but this article may not satisfy Wikipedia's criteria for inclusion, and the deletion notice should explain why (see also "What Wikipedia is not" and Wikipedia's deletion policy). You may prevent the proposed deletion by removing the {{dated prod}} notice, but please explain why you disagree with the proposed deletion in your edit summary or on its talk page.

Please consider improving the article to address the issues raised because, even though removing the deletion notice will prevent deletion through the proposed deletion process, the article may still be deleted if it matches any of the speedy deletion criteria or it can be sent to Articles for Deletion, where it may be deleted if consensus to delete is reached. Eremogone capillaris

Eremogone capillaris (syn. Arenaria capillaris) is well-illustrated but Eremogone capillaris doesn't exist. I suspect that you have many articles that are more important, but I wanted to mention it to you. Its range includes California.[2] Best wishes, Walter Siegmund (talk) 01:16, 18 July 2009 (UTC)

  • Interesting, I must have skipped it because it wasn't in the alphabetical list in Jepson, which is the list I'm working through. I'll do it. Thanx. Cheers, IceCreamAntisocial (talk) 07:38, 18 July 2009 (UTC)
  • The California population may have been split off and renamed, but I would have thought that searching for the old name would still have found it. I searched Google Scholar for Eremogone capillaris and Arenaria capillaris and California but that turned up nothing. Perhaps the folks at Jepson can help.
