Fair use rationale for Image:Shiv Kumar Batalvi Thumb.jpg[edit]

Thanks for uploading Image:Shiv Kumar Batalvi Thumb.jpg. The image description page specifies that the image is being used under fair use but there is no explanation or rationale as to why its use in Wikipedia articles constitutes fair use.

Please go to the image description page and edit it to include a fair use rationale.

If you have uploaded other fair use media, consider checking that you have specified the fair use rationale on those pages too. You can find a list of 'image' pages you have edited by clicking on the "my contributions" link (it is located at the very top of any Wikipedia page when you are logged in), and then selecting "Image" from the dropdown box. Note that any fair use images lacking such an explanation will be deleted one week after they have been uploaded, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you.

This is an automated notice by OrphanBot. For assistance on the image use policy, see Wikipedia:Media copyright questions. 20:07, 22 August 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Germplasm Resources Information Network[edit]

Hi IP - nice that you've started this page (it was overdue a page!), but it isn't necessary to link it from every page using it as a reference citation (there are hundreds, possibly thousands, of pages citing it as a reference). What would be more useful is to link it from USDA, Agricultural Research Service, etc. - thanks, MPF 00:52, 24 August 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Orphaned fair use image (Image:Bhagat Puran Singh Stamp.jpg)[edit]

Thanks for uploading Image:Bhagat Puran Singh Stamp.jpg. I notice the 'image' page currently specifies that the image is unlicensed for use on Wikipedia and may only be used on Wikipedia under a claim of fair use. However, the image is currently orphaned, meaning that it is not used in any articles on Wikipedia. If the image was previously in an article, please go to the article and see why it was removed. You may add it back if you think that that will be useful. However, please note that images for which a replacement could be created are not acceptable under fair use (see our fair use policy).

If you have uploaded other unlicensed media, please check whether they're used in any articles or not. You can find a list of 'image' pages you have edited by clicking on the "my contributions" link (it is located at the very top of any Wikipedia page when you are logged in), and then selecting "Image" from the dropdown box. Note that any fair use images not used in any articles will be deleted after seven days, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. Thank you. thunderboltz(Deepu) 08:08, 23 October 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Stained glass window[edit]

Very beautiful window, and I was happy to see it. But I just deleted it from the article for the following reasons.

  • There are hundreds of windows in wiki commons to choose from. I have tried to select windows that are-
  1. photgraphed straight on
  2. clear quality
  3. known artists/manufacturers
  4. approximate date known
  • The format of the article (any article actually), allows for the pics in a gallery to be four across. Five across breaks up the formatting and looks bad if it is in the middle of an article. There were already four pics in every gallery.
  • The gallery was entitled Famous manufacturers. I don't know who did your window.
  • The date of the windows in that gallery are mid Victorian 1850-75. Your window dates from about 1890-1920, possibly as early as 1880 but I don't think so.

Do you have more pics of stained glass in India? Is there an article on churches in India that it could be added to? Were there any stained glass manufacturers in India, or was all the glass imported? I would like to do some more articles on stained glass, when I am in better health, as it takes a lot of research. I have access to info in the UK and Australia, but not elsewhere.

It has just occured to me that your window may be by a manufacturer called William Morris. He is not the very famous William Morris who worked with Burne-Jones, but another man of the same name who did some very beautiful work, later in the century. The wings are very suggestive of his style.Amandajm 10:59, 16 September 2007 (UTC)[reply]

A tag has been placed on Gurdwara Guru Nanak Darbar, Southington, CT, requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under the criteria for speedy deletion, because it is a very short article providing little or no context to the reader. Please see Wikipedia:Stub for our minimum information standards for short articles. Also please note that articles must be on notable subjects and should provide references to reliable sources that verify their content.

Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag yourself. If you plan to expand the article, you can request that administrators wait a while for you to add contextual material. To do this, affix the template {{hangon}} to the article and state your intention on the article's talk page. Feel free to leave a note on my talk page if you have any questions about this. Disputed fair use rationale for Image:Sekhon Stamp 2000.jpg[edit]

Thanks for uploading Image:Sekhon Stamp 2000.jpg. However, there is a concern that the rationale you have provided for using this image under "fair use" may be invalid. Please read the instructions at Wikipedia:Non-free content carefully, then go to the image description page and clarify why you think the image qualifies for fair use. Using one of the templates at Wikipedia:Fair use rationale guideline is an easy way to ensure that your image is in compliance with Wikipedia policy, but remember that you must complete the template. Do not simply insert a blank template on an image page.

If it is determined that the image does not qualify under fair use, it will be deleted within a couple of days according to our criteria for speedy deletion. If you have any questions please ask them at the media copyright questions page. Thank you.BetacommandBot (talk) 06:03, 24 January 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Unreferenced BLPs[edit]

Hello IP Singh! Thank you for your contributions. I am a bot alerting you that 2 of the articles that you created are tagged as Unreferenced Biographies of Living Persons. The biographies of living persons policy requires that all personal or potentially controversial information be sourced. In addition, to insure verifiability, all biographies should be based on reliable sources. if you were to bring these articles up to standards, it would greatly help us with the current 938 article backlog. Once the articles are adequately referenced, please remove the {{unreferencedBLP}} tag. Here is the list:

  1. Lakshmi Shankar - Find sources: Google (books · news · scholar · free images · WP refs· FENS · JSTOR · TWL
  2. Nirmala Devi - Find sources: Google (books · news · scholar · free images · WP refs· FENS · JSTOR · TWL

Disambiguation link notification for January 29[edit]

Hi. Thank you for your recent edits. Wikipedia appreciates your help. We noticed though that when you edited Kargil War, you added a link pointing to the disambiguation page ISI (check to confirm | fix with Dab solver).
