September 2021[edit]

A page you created has been nominated for deletion because it is a biography of a living person that is entirely negative in tone and has unsourced content, according to section G10 of the criteria for speedy deletion.

Do not create articles about living people that are entirely negative in tone and unsourced. Wikipedia has a policy of verifiability and any negative information we use must be reliably sourced, and our articles must be balanced. Negative, unreferenced biographies of living people, along with attack pages, are not tolerated by Wikipedia, and users who create or repost such pages and images in violation of our biographies of living persons policy may be blocked from editing. • Gene93k (talk) 22:29, 15 September 2021 (UTC)[reply]

Edit warring[edit]

You currently appear to be engaged in an edit war according to the reverts you have made on Death of Gabby Petito. This means that you are repeatedly changing content back to how you think it should be although other editors disagree. Users are expected to collaborate with others, to avoid editing disruptively, and to try to reach a consensus, rather than repeatedly undoing other users' edits once it is known that there is a disagreement.

Points to note:

  1. Edit warring is disruptive regardless of how many reverts you have made;
  2. Do not edit war even if you believe you are right.

If you find yourself in an editing dispute, use the article's talk page to discuss controversial changes and work towards a version that represents consensus among editors. You can post a request for help at an appropriate noticeboard or seek dispute resolution. In some cases, it may be appropriate to request temporary page protection. If you engage in an edit war, you may be blocked from editing. - FlightTime (open channel) 22:33, 29 September 2021 (UTC)[reply]

Stop removing the edits for no reason and we won't have to "edit war". HumanHistory1 (talk) 22:42, 29 September 2021 (UTC)[reply]

Important Notice[edit]

This is a standard message to notify contributors about an administrative ruling in effect. It does not imply that there are any issues with your contributions to date.

You have shown interest in articles about living or recently deceased people, and edits relating to the subject (living or recently deceased) of such biographical articles. Due to past disruption in this topic area, a more stringent set of rules called discretionary sanctions is in effect. Any administrator may impose sanctions on editors who do not strictly follow Wikipedia's policies, or the page-specific restrictions, when making edits related to the topic.

For additional information, please see the guidance on discretionary sanctions and the Arbitration Committee's decision here. If you have any questions, or any doubts regarding what edits are appropriate, you are welcome to discuss them with me or any other editor.

Note that mentioning the names of the witnesses anywhere can be grounds for a topic ban[edit]

You're welcome to argue that they should be mentioned, although that's pointless as policy says no. Mention them anywhere though and you may be topic banned. Doug Weller talk 09:16, 30 September 2021 (UTC)[reply]

Important[edit]

If I had come here and read the warnings conveyed before I reverted your edit at Mansfield Timberview High School I would've simply blocked your account indefinitely. Before you get into serious difficulties, please read WP:BLPNAME and WP:BLPCRIME. Wikipedia:Biographies of living persons is one of the few Wikipedia policies that deal with real world consequences. As such, it is interpreted very narrowly. I would advise you to consult with more experienced editors before jumping into BLP related content. Tiderolls 18:13, 6 October 2021 (UTC)[reply]

Look, I'm not trying to cause issues, I'm really not. I just don't understand why the constant omission of names and extra details; to me I feel like they are important and should be in articles. I just don't see a valid reason for this. HumanHistory1 (talk) 19:00, 6 October 2021 (UTC)[reply]
I think you're sincere. I'm just making sure I do my best to make sure you understand how close we all are to making a big mistake when it comes to BLPs. We can't afford mistakes in that area because people get hurt. By all means, stand by your beliefs and put forth your ideas for consideration. Just be careful in doing so. I do not know with what success you will meet in attempting to alter the status quo. My feeling is that you will find it slow slogging simply because, again, we are dealing with the lives of real people. Please ask more questions if I'm not being clear.
