Amnesia test[edit]

I'm still reviewing Wikipedia talk:Articles for creation/The Elstree Project. One piece of advice I'd recommend for anyone with a WP:COI attempting to write an article is the amnesia test:

  1. Forget everything you know about The Elstree Project; act as if you know nothing
  2. Go back to your sources and re-read them
  3. Think about what information those sources have to offer, and include that information in the article
  4. If you find that you can't write about a piece of information you'd like to include because it isn't covered in your sources, then don't include it. We don't want original research.
  5. If you find that you can't write barely much of anything at all, then the subject probably isn't notable for Wikipedia.

Just some thoughts. Cheers, Michaelzeng7 (talk) 04:29, 29 January 2014 (UTC)[reply]

Your submission at AfC The Elstree Project was accepted[edit]

The Elstree Project, which you submitted to Articles for creation, has been created.
The article has been assessed as Start-Class, which is recorded on the article's talk page. You may like to take a look at the grading scheme to see how you can improve the article.

You are more than welcome to continue making quality contributions to Wikipedia. Note that because you are a logged-in user, you can create articles yourself, and don't have to post a request. However, you may continue submitting work to Articles for Creation if you prefer.

Thank you for helping improve Wikipedia!

Help me! Citing first party source[edit]

Help! I'm trying to cite a source on The Elstree Project, where it states Roger Moore as one of the interviewees. There are no third party sources to verify this, but the Project's website has a behind the scenes photo of their interview with Roger Moore, which proves it to be true. I've looked at WP:SELFSOURCE but feel the guidelines are too open to interpretation.

Howie 00:10, 6 February 2014 (UTC)[reply]

I'd usually say that if there is no third-party source for a certain fact, that fact likely isn't all that important in the first place. If no one but them bothers to mention that interview, neither should we. Huon (talk) 00:36, 6 February 2014 (UTC)[reply]
It's been reported in a print newspaper, but not online, so it's hard to prove there's been an article! Howie 00:48, 6 February 2014 (UTC)[reply]
Citations do not always have to be online; you are allowed to cite print sources. You can use {{cite news}} to format it. Some popular newspapers keep an online archive of many of their historic print publications. Although sometimes, you need a subscription to access them. Wiki Loves Pride 2014[edit]

Hi HB. In case you are not aware, there is an upcoming campaign to improve coverage of LGBT-related topics on Wikipedia, culminating with an international edit-a-thon on June 21. See Wiki Loves Pride 2014 for more information. If you are interested, you might consider creating a page for a major city (or cities!) near you, with a list of LGBT-related articles that need to be created or improved. This would be a tremendous help to Wikipedia and coverage of LGBT culture and history. Thanks for your consideration, and please let me know if you have any questions! --Another Believer (Talk) 16:42, 9 May 2014 (UTC)[reply]

You are invited to participate in Wiki Loves Pride!

  • What? Wiki Loves Pride, a campaign to document and photograph LGBT culture and history, including pride events
  • When? June 2015
  • How can you help?
1.) Create or improve LGBT-related articles and showcase the results of your work here
2.) Upload photographs or other media related to LGBT culture and history, including pride events, and add images to relevant Wikipedia articles; feel free to create a subpage with a gallery of your images (see examples from last year)
3.) Contribute to an LGBT-related task force at another Wikimedia project (Wikidata, Wikimedia Commons, Wikivoyage, etc.)

Or, view or update the current list of Tasks. This campaign is supported by the Wikimedia LGBT+ User Group, an officially recognized affiliate of the Wikimedia Foundation. Visit the group's page at Meta-Wiki for more information, or follow Wikimedia LGBT+ on Facebook. Remember, Wiki Loves Pride is about creating and improving LGBT-related content at Wikimedia projects, and content should have a neutral point of view. One does not need to identify as LGBT or any other gender or sexual minority to participate. This campaign is about adding accurate, reliable information to Wikipedia, plain and simple, and all are welcome!

If you have any questions, please leave a message on the campaign's main talk page.

Thanks, and happy editing!

Thunderbirds (TV series)[edit]

Please note in first paragraph of the Thunderbirds (TV series)page someone has placed the following….

“and also stupid and dumd noone should watch it”
This seems to be one person’s opinion and not a general agreement or fact..

Hi,
You appear to be eligible to vote in the current Arbitration Committee election. The Arbitration Committee is the panel of editors responsible for conducting the Wikipedia arbitration process. It has the authority to enact binding solutions for disputes between editors, primarily related to serious behavioural issues that the community has been unable to resolve. This includes the ability to impose site bans, topic bans, editing restrictions, and other measures needed to maintain our editing environment. The arbitration policy describes the Committee's roles and responsibilities in greater detail. If you wish to participate, you are welcome to review the candidates' statements and submit your choices on the voting page. Disputed non-free use rationale for File:Lizawithaz album.jpeg[edit]

Thank you for uploading File:Lizawithaz album.jpeg. However, there is a concern that the rationale provided for using this file on Wikipedia may not meet the criteria required by Wikipedia:Non-free content. This can be corrected by going to the file description page and adding or clarifying the reason why the file qualifies under this policy. Adding and completing one of the templates available from Wikipedia:Non-free use rationale guideline is an easy way to ensure that your file is in compliance with Wikipedia policy. Please be aware that a non-free use rationale is not the same as an image copyright tag; descriptions for files used under the non-free content policy require both a copyright tag and a non-free use rationale.

If it is determined that the file does not qualify under the non-free content policy, it might be deleted by an administrator seven days after the file was tagged in accordance with section F7 of the criteria for speedy deletion. If you have any questions, please ask them at the media copyright questions page. Thank you.

This bot DID NOT nominate any file(s) for deletion; please refer to the page history of each individual file for details. Thanks, FastilyBot (talk) 01:00, 26 December 2019 (UTC)[reply]
