Welcome![edit]

Hello, Her128, and welcome to Wikipedia! Thank you for your contributions.

I noticed that one of the first articles you edited appears to be dealing with a topic with which you may have a conflict of interest. In other words, you may find it difficult to write about that topic in a neutral and objective way, because you are, work for, or represent, the subject of that article. Your recent contributions may have already been undone for this very reason.

To reduce the chances of your contributions being undone, you might like to draft your revised article before submission, and then ask me or another editor to proofread it. See our help page on userspace drafts for more details. If the page you created has already been deleted from Wikipedia, but you want to save the content from it to use for that draft, don't hesitate to ask anyone from this list and they will copy it to your user page.

One rule we do have in connection with conflicts of interest is that accounts used by more than one person will unfortunately be blocked from editing. Wikipedia generally does not allow editors to have usernames which imply that the account belongs to a company or corporation. If you have a username like this, you should request a change of username or create a new account. (A name that identifies the user as an individual within a given organization may be OK.)

In addition, if you receive, or expect to receive, compensation for any contribution you make, you must disclose your employer, client, and affiliation to comply with our terms of use and our policy on paid editing.

I hope you enjoy editing here and being a Wikipedian! Please sign your messages on talk pages using four tildes (~~~~); this will automatically insert your username and the date. If you need help, check out Wikipedia:Questions, ask me on my talk page, or ask your question on this page and then place {{Help me}} before the question. Again, welcome! -- Marchjuly (talk) 07:04, 15 December 2022 (UTC)[reply]

SORRY! :( I am the subject of the article, but I'm not reviewing or offering critique, simply trying to provide accurate accounts of my identity, history, which is not accurately represented here. Example: One source, from the Governor of Maryland actually didn't use my proper name, even misspelling it, and this was cited for watercolor work, not cartoons. I've not been known as a cartoonist since the early 80s. Just trying to clear thing for myself professionally. I beg your indulgence, a life of artwork has ravaged my eyes. Please don't block me- what is COI? Her128

@Marchjuly, what happened? Lemonaka (talk) 08:28, 15 December 2022 (UTC)[reply]
A conflict of interest (COI) is when you are directly connected to the subject of an article (in this case, you are the subject). You have done nothing wrong, though, by posting on the article's talk page; unless I am mistaken Marchjuly simply wanted to welcome you and let you know about the guidelines we have regarding people who have articles about them, and gave some advice for how you can show others your intended/proposed changes to the page. If you want more help, change the {{help me-helped}} back into a {{help me}}, stop by the Teahouse, or Wikipedia's live help channel, or the help desk to ask someone for assistance. Primefac (talk) 10:33, 15 December 2022 (UTC)[reply]

Hi Her128. I added the above template to your user talk page just for general information purposes as Primefac surmised above. The template is written so as to cover as many situations as possible; it's boilerplate text and some of it may not apply to your specific situation. The initialism "COI" stands for, as also pointed out above, "Conflict of interest". Generally, Wikipedia tries to discourage individuals from trying to edit or create content about themselves because they might have a hard time doing so in accordance with relevant Wikipedia policies and guidelines. The template I added contains links to relevant Wikipedia pages that go into more detail about this kind of thing and was just meant for your reference. The part of the template about being blocked doesn't really apply to your particular situation; so, you need not worry about it. Once again, the template is worded to try and cover as many bases as possible, and in some cases accounts may be blocked if there are serious problems associated with it.
Finally, a couple of things you might want to consider (since one of them was pointed out by someone else posting on the article's talk page) are (1) declaring your COI as explained here and (2) possibly having your identity formally verified by emailing the Wikimedia Volunteer Response Team (VRT). Item (1) is highly recommended but it's only required by the Wikimedia Foundation's meta:Terms of use if your editing falls under Wikipedia:Paid-contribution disclosure; item (2) is optional but it will make it clear to everyone that "Jacki Randall " and you are one and the same. There can be a downside to item (2) since it does make it possible for others to make a direct connection between you and the "Her128" account, and it won't grant you any final special editorial control over what's written about you on Wikipedia. If you have more questions about item (2), a good person to ask would be Primefac because Primefac has VRT priviledges and almost certainly is more familiar with the identity verification process than I am. Anyway, I hope that clears up any misunderstandings. Just continue to use the article's talk page to make suggestions or propose changes, and other users will eventually assess them to see whether they're in accordance with relevant policies and guidelines. -- Marchjuly (talk) 01:24, 16 December 2022 (UTC)[reply]

December 2022[edit]

Information icon Hello and welcome to Wikipedia. When you add content to talk pages and Wikipedia pages that have open discussion, such as at User talk:Her128, (but never when editing articles), please be sure to sign your posts. There are two ways to do this. Either:

  1. Add four tildes ( ~~~~ ) at the end of your comment, or
  2. With the cursor positioned at the end of your comment, click on the signature button located above the edit window.

This will automatically insert a signature with your username or IP address and the time you posted the comment. This information is necessary to allow other editors to easily see who wrote what and when.

Thank you. Lemonaka (talk) 08:28, 15 December 2022 (UTC)[reply]
