Image:B00005YX5D.08.LZZZZZZZ.jpg[edit]

I have tagged Image:B00005YX5D.08.LZZZZZZZ.jpg as a disputed use of non-free media, because there is a concern that the rationale you have provided for using this image under "fair use" may be invalid. Please clarify your fair use rationale on the image description page. Thank you. Videmus Omnia 14:00, 30 June 2007 (UTC)[reply]

  • Well I just wanted to illustrate the album. I thought that album covers are allowed to illustrate albums. Of course to make things clearer I could create a specific dedicated page for the album, but I am nearly sure than someone would argue for lack of notability and propose a merge. Image:B00005YX5D.08.LZZZZZZZ.jpg[edit]

Thanks for uploading Image:B00005YX5D.08.LZZZZZZZ.jpg. I notice the 'image' page specifies that the image is being used under fair use, but its use in Wikipedia articles fails our first fair use criterion in that it illustrates a subject for which a freely licensed image could reasonably be found or created that provides substantially the same information. If you believe this image is not replaceable, please:

  1. Go to the image description page and edit it to add {{Replaceable fair use disputed}}, without deleting the original Replaceable fair use template.
  2. On the image discussion page, write the reason why this image is not replaceable at all.

Alternatively, you can also choose to replace the fair use image by finding a freely licensed image of its subject, requesting that the copyright holder release this (or a similar) image under a free license, or by taking a picture of it yourself.

If you have uploaded other fair use media, consider checking that you have specified how these images fully satisfy our fair use criteria. You can find a list of 'image' pages you have edited by clicking on this link. Note that any fair use images which are replaceable by free-licensed alternatives will be deleted one week after they have been uploaded, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you. Videmus Omnia 14:00, 30 June 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Image:Aston_martin_rapide.jpg[edit]

I have tagged Image:Aston_martin_rapide.jpg as {{no rationale}}, because it does not provide a fair use rationale. If you believe the image to be acceptable for fair use according to Wikipedia policy, please provide a rationale explaining as much, in accordance with the fair use rationale guideline, on the image description page. Please also consider using {{non-free fair use in|article name}} or one of the other tags listed at Wikipedia:Image copyright tags#Fair_use. Thank you. Videmus Omnia 14:01, 30 June 2007 (UTC)[reply]

  • I considered as explained on the image page that the car has not been commercialized yet and that a promo image was acceptable as long as it is not practically possible to get a free one. I thought the explanation I have put on the image page was clear enough. This car is foreseen to go commercial in 2009. Hektor 16:09, 30 June 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Unspecified source for Image:Aston_martin_rapide.jpg[edit]

Thanks for uploading Image:Aston_martin_rapide.jpg. I noticed that the file's description page currently doesn't specify who created the content, so the copyright status is unclear. If you did not create this file yourself, then you will need to specify the owner of the copyright. If you obtained it from a website, then a link to the website from which it was taken, together with a restatement of that website's terms of use of its content, is usually sufficient information. However, if the copyright holder is different from the website's publisher, then their copyright should also be acknowledged.

As well as adding the source, please add a proper copyright licensing tag if the file doesn't have one already. If you created/took the picture, audio, or video then the {{GFDL-self}} tag can be used to release it under the GFDL. If you believe the media meets the criteria at Wikipedia:Fair use, use a tag such as {{non-free fair use in|article name}} or one of the other tags listed at Wikipedia:Image copyright tags#Fair use. See Wikipedia:Image copyright tags for the full list of copyright tags that you can use.

If you have uploaded other files, consider checking that you have specified their source and tagged them, too. You can find a list of files you have uploaded by following this link. Unsourced and untagged images may be deleted one week after they have been tagged, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. If the image is copyrighted under a non-free license (per Wikipedia:Fair use) then the image will be deleted 48 hours after 10:48, 14 July 2007 (UTC). If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you. MER-C 10:48, 14 July 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Request for contact[edit]

Hektor, could you please drop me a line here with an e-mail address? I'm in touch with the subject of an article you've written or expanded (Françoise Maîtresse) - I originally contacted her for a picture. She wants to discuss the content of her article, but I think it would be better if someone fluent in French did it, mine is non-existent. Videmus Omnia Talk 00:16, 16 July 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Notability of OWK[edit]

A tag has been placed on OWK, requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done because the article appears to be about a person, group of people, band, club, company, or web content, but it does not indicate how or why the subject is notable: that is, why an article about that subject should be included in an encyclopedia. Under the criteria for speedy deletion, articles that do not assert the subject's importance or significance may be deleted at any time. Please see the guidelines for what is generally accepted as notable.

If you think that you can assert the notability of the subject, you may contest the deletion. To do this, add {{hangon}} on the top of the page (just below the existing speedy deletion or "db" tag) and leave a note on the article's talk page explaining your position. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag yourself, but don't hesitate to add information to the article that would confirm the subject's notability under Wikipedia guidelines.

For guidelines on specific types of articles, you may want to check out our criteria for biographies, for web sites, for bands, or for companies. Feel free to leave a note on my talk page if you have any questions about this. --Finngall talk 18:10, 16 July 2007 (UTC)[reply]

The images you reinserted at Corinne Clery are not listed with any fair use rationales, and therefore may not be used in an article about the actress. At best, the screenshot can be used in an article about the film or about the character that she played, and the magazine cover can only be used in an article about the magazine. STS-118/Current events[edit]

Hi, I've reverted your addition again. IMO the buildup/countdown to a launch is not individually significant unless there are major problems or incidents. Since the launch itself is significant, it will definitely get a mention. However there are build-ups to every significant event, and we don't include them unless they are individually of international importance, which isn't the case with the buildup to STS-118. For example, we included STS-117's launch, and ALSO part of its buildup, as it was delayed by the weather. There is nothing individually notable about this buildup so I think it's better not to include it. Cheers, Chacor 12:58, 8 August 2007 (UTC)[reply]

  • I disagree, thousands of schools today throughout the US and Canada are going to watch this countdown. Hektor 13:01, 8 August 2007 (UTC)[reply]
    • That does not make it notable, nor more importantly, internationally significant. Chacor 13:03, 8 August 2007 (UTC)[reply]

STS-125[edit]

Dear Hektor, I just wanted to let you know why I reverted your changing the "next mission" on the STS-125 page, as the mission to follow is STS-119, per the official manifest. Unfortunately, the flight numbers aren't always consecutive, so it makes it a bit confusing at times. lol. Thanks for understanding! ArielGold 06:57, 24 August 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Hrmm. Please can you review the NASA manifest again? NASA spaceflight.com posted that on Aug 7th, but the NASA manifest page was updated Aug 23rd. It lists 119 following 125. Although both (119 and 126) are 'under review', with no dates, I'm not sure if we should go with NASA's official manifest, or a third party report of manifest changes. (Note that I'm a member of L2 on NSF.com, so I actually trust them highly, but for the purposes of verifiability, I'm thinking perhaps that NASA's page may be what needs to be referred to, since the advanced information from L2 can't be published until NASA makes it public, as it is considered 'confidential'.) What do you think? ArielGold 07:08, 24 August 2007 (UTC)[reply]
If you are an L2 member, you have, like me, an access to the latest FAWG Planning Manifest dated July 17, 2007 and you can also see that the STS-126 overview has just been issued - which is not the case for STS-119. This clearly shows that STS-126 is before STS-119 in the pipeline. That being said of course we cannot take L2 as reference here. So I had taken the liberty to update the schedule because Chris Bergin had put this information out of L2 through the linked article. I won't revert anyway, from a strict legalist standpoint of course the NASA information (obviously outdated though) prevails. We will have to wait for NASA to catch up with the real schedule. Probably when the STS-126 crew is announced, since it will happen before STS-119 crew announcement. Hektor 07:16, 24 August 2007 (UTC)[reply]
Yeah, that's exactly what I thought, while info in L2 contradicts the official manifest, it isn't public, so it is frustrating for you and I, and others of L2. And the date on the release Chris posted was earlier than the last update by NASA, so that's what I was going off of, as far as someone comparing dates. Thanks for helping decide what to do! I'm sure we'll get official info soon, although probably not until after STS-120. You rock! ArielGold 07:24, 24 August 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Orphaned non-free media (Image:Dacia logo.png)[edit]

Thanks for uploading Image:Dacia logo.png. The media description page currently specifies that it is non-free and may only be used on Wikipedia under a claim of fair use. However, it is currently orphaned, meaning that it is not used in any articles on Wikipedia. If the media was previously in an article, please go to the article and see why it was removed. You may add it back if you think that that will be useful. However, please note that media for which a replacement could be created are not acceptable for use on Wikipedia (see our policy for non-free media).
