head's up[edit]

Just thought you might want to be in on the Wikipedia:Articles for deletion/Angela Beesley (4th nomination) debate that is on-going. VanTucky 22:44, 16 June 2007 (UTC) [reply]

toupee[edit]

I am having a conflict with a anon user who keeps adding this absurd trivia list of "Known Toupee wearers" to the Toupee article. To me, it is clearly unencyclopedic per WP:NOT (indiscriminate list of trivia information that is potentially libelous). VanTucky 18:58, 21 June 2007 (UTC)[reply]

I see that you cited WP:BLP, you can also see WP:Trivia and WP:L which seem relevant too. But, be careful of WP:3RR (which I think you may have both already violated). HammerHeadHuman 19:11, 21 June 2007 (UTC)[reply]
I did violate it, but only when the BLP was an issue. Once any mention of living people was removed I did not remove the section again. I did revert to a trivia tag that the user removed once, but that was a separate issue. The user did not violate the rule to my knowledge, but the IP anon definitely did. This has been very frustrating, but two other users have agreed with me so far. When is it safe for me to declare a consensus and delete the section again? I know either the IP or the newbie will revert me the moment I do. VanTucky 01:47, 23 June 2007 (UTC)[reply]
Sorry about the response delay... These problems tend to work themselves out over time, mostly because one of the involved parties just stops paying attention. As for consensus... this is a huge gray area with a lot of room for interpretation. Officially, I think that consensus cannot be reached until you can convince all parties to agree to a compromise, even if there is a majority that support changes in your favor. Honestly, I think that your best bet here is to try to convince the critics that your way is best (or at least most proper or logical). The most effective way to do this, as you already have, is through wikipedia guidelines. I'd say keep at it, and in a few days try to make your changes again.
