Tories in Canada[edit]

Hi Hameltion, thanks for the work on disambiguating Tory/Tories. It made me realise how many Canadian articles use the nickname as shorthand for the Conservative/PC parties, when not using nicknames for other parties; that sort of treatment strikes me as not NPOV. I think Wikipedia needs to treat all parties with equal respect in nomenclature, so I've gone through and changed most of the references to either "Conservatives" or "PCs"; kept some where it was historically appropriate, or appropriate in context (eg "Red Tories"). Thank you for drawing this issue to my attention. Mr Serjeant Buzfuz (talk) 16:50, 2 January 2024 (UTC)[reply]

@Mr Serjeant Buzfuz: Thanks, that seems fair; a quick search for tories canada shows that most news articles use "Conservatives" anyway. There's a lot more disambiguating to do if you want to install DisamAssist and help out yourself. And you may be interested in participating in the move discussion I opened for the base article name Tory. Hameltion (talk | contribs) 17:27, 2 January 2024 (UTC)[reply]
Just commented on the proposals. I agree with the first, not the second, as explained there. Mr Serjeant Buzfuz (talk) 18:12, 2 January 2024 (UTC)[reply]
As for current news media, the new Conservative Party has deprecated the use of "Tories", for political / ideological reasons. Media is probably following that lead. Mr Serjeant Buzfuz (talk) 18:14, 2 January 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Responded at article talk. Hameltion (talk | contribs) 23:06, 20 January 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Hello @Hameltion:, could you please create an article for American actor Joe Nieves, who appeared credited in more than 60 film and television projects and is best known for appearing as recurring character Carl on the TV sitcom How I Met Your Mother? Hey @Votbek, been a minute. Great to see you've begun starting some articles yourself. Unfortunately this guy doesn't seem to be wiki notable. When the best source I see is non-independent, insignificant coverage from marginally reliable Screen Rant ... Hameltion (talk | contribs) 15:09, 29 January 2024 (UTC)[reply]
