I wondered where you got your information on about Martin Davies. You locate his death in 1978 but his obituary in Burlington Magazine records his death in 1975. Can I assume this is not a case of the report of his death being greatly exaggerated?--Oxonian2006 (talk) 22:00, 21 January 2008 (UTC)

A tag has been placed on Template:British Isles portals requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under section T3 of the criteria for speedy deletion, because it is a deprecated or orphaned template. After seven days, if it is still unused and the speedy deletion tag has not been removed, the template will be deleted.

If the template is intended to be substituted, please feel free to remove the speedy deletion tag and please consider putting a note on the template's page indicating that it is substituted so as to avoid any future mistakes (<noinclude>{{transclusionless}}</noinclude>).

Orphaned non-free media (Image:National Art Collections Fund Logo.gif)

Thanks for uploading Image:National Art Collections Fund Logo.gif. The media description page currently specifies that it is non-free and may only be used on Wikipedia under a claim of fair use. However, it is currently orphaned, meaning that it is not used in any articles on Wikipedia. If the media was previously in an article, please go to the article and see why it was removed. You may add it back if you think that that will be useful. However, please note that media for which a replacement could be created are not acceptable for use on Wikipedia (see our policy for non-free media).

If you have uploaded other unlicensed media, please check whether they're used in any articles or not. You can find a list of 'image' pages you have edited by clicking on the "my contributions" link (it is located at the very top of any Wikipedia page when you are logged in), and then selecting "Image" from the dropdown box. Note that all non-free media not used in any articles will be deleted after seven days, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. Thank you. BJBot (talk) 05:05, 23 February 2008 (UTC)

Romeo and Juliet collaboration

Greetings! The current Shakespeare Project Collaboration is Romeo and Juliet. This project is currently going a thorough peer review and copyedit before moving on to FAC. The link to the peer review is Wikipedia:Peer review/Romeo and Juliet/archive1. Have a look! « Diligent Terrier Bot (talk) 20:47, 19 July 2008 (UTC)

Hi there,

Just wondering if you'd spotted my reply? I've posted lots of examples of problematic sections. Thanks, Papa November (talk) 08:10, 15 August 2008 (UTC)

Western art

Hey, thanks much for getting started on the listification of Template:Western European & American Paintings. Do you need any more from the template, or can I go ahead and delete it? Peace, delldot ∇. 14:18, 25 September 2008 (UTC)

Actually, I just realized I need to move the template to the new list name to keep the history intact for the GFDL because material is being used from it. Do you think what you have in your sandbox is ready for the mainspace (it doesn't have to be pretty)? If so I could histmerge them in the mainspace. Otherwise, would you mind if I histmerge the template into your sandbox? That way you can move the whole works into the mainspace whenever you're ready. Thanks again, delldot ∇. 14:54, 25 September 2008 (UTC)
No response so I'm gonna assume this is ok. Let me know if not and we'll figure something out. Peace, delldot ∇. 18:34, 28 September 2008 (UTC)

There is currently a discussion going on regarding the project's policy on how information on characters should be represented in articles on Shakespeare's plays. Please take part by clicking Talk:Romeo and Juliet#Character Analysis. Further context, if needed, can be found by scanning the two previous talk sections on the page as well. List of Leo's paintings

I see that you are simplifying that list. Care is needed. While what you are doing seems like an obvious solution to a messy problem, the arrangement of sections has been very carefully devised to reflect the categories of work in an entirely accurate way, so the it doesn't lead to false assumptions.

  • There is this problem that a 'minority accept several of the pics, but among that minority are some highly reputable people who offer very good reason for their assessment.
  • In other cases the attribution is over a century old, and has not been seriously challenged.
  • On the other hand, Carlo Pedretti's recent attributions have been treated with total scorn by most critics, regardless of the stated presence of a thumbprint. One of the pics is obviously not, but has been seen by very few people, and another is patently by the artist to whom it has always been ascribed. To suggest either is by Leonardo is foolishness. However, Pedretti is well known and both pics have been in the news in recent years. They have to be placed here, becasue if they are not then some well meaning editor will add them as "recently discovered" Leonardo's.
  • The pic of the two babies might very well be a Leonardo, but as far as I know, this has never been seriously looked into by any of the big names.
