Hi Reviewers of Wikipedia, there are some issues I would like to address. I have put a lot of time and effort into the creation of Harry C. Giese and I would like to be informed if the article is to be edited so that I can review the changes before they are made. I have noticed that the editors of Wikipedia have not only deleted links and statements that were only meant for both the benefit of the article and Wikipedia itself and I would like to be informed of these changes next time before they are made. I would also like to add that the references in the article are current and have been added in a proper citation style, and are most likely not susceptible to link rot any time soon. Could the kind reviewers please review the article and respond with the changes that need to be made, so that I may do that changes myself and know fully what is happening, rather than checking on my article and finding that changes have been made to the information I have worked hard to compile without my consent. Firstly, the tool used to keep an eye on articles is the watchlist. You can add an article to your watchlist by clicking on the small star symbol at the top of the article, to the left of the search box. You can check your watchlist via the "Watchlist" link at the very top of the page, roughly above the star symbol.
Secondly, no Wikipedia editor gets to own an article, not even the creator. Changes to the article will be made without prior notification and without any requirement of consent from you. Wikipedia is a collaborative project, and if people intend to improve the article, they do not (and should not) need to use you as an intermediary. If you disagree with some of those changes you can revert them, but except in cases of obvious vandalism (say, changing all the content into "Joe is stupid") you should leave an edit summary that explains why you revert the edit or, better yet, explain your rationale on the article's talk page.
Thirdly, the article has been reviewed and accepted; it's a full article now, and unlike for drafts there's no dedicated review process for changes made to articles. If you have specific questions about the changes I'll happily reply, but to be honest I'm not interested enough in that topic to permanently review and re-review the article. Hi Wikipedia editors: A distinction has been made between the articles on Harry C. Giese, Australian public servant and Harry Giese, German voice actor, but there is no disambiguation in the summary on the latter which appears prominently to the right of the main search engine listings. The Harry Giese article carries a hatnote pointing to Harry C. Giese. Whatever the search engines do or don't do is not a Wikipedia issue; we don't (and shouldn't) deal in search engine optimization and cannot directly influence the search engines. Huon (talk) 23:29, 12 October 2013 (UTC)[reply]

Hi Huon and other editors: The hatnote is part of the two articles and should also be included in any summary. Surely disambiguation is a Wikipedia issue, not a Google (etc) one? And Wikipedia already disambiguates. Both articles carry hatnotes pointing to each other. How Google summarizes the articles and whether its summary includes the hatnotes is beyond our control. I don't quite understand what you think should be done, but if you mean to propose that in addition to, or instead of, the hatnote the first paragraph of the Harry Giese article should also contain a disambiguation, that would violate Wikipedia's guideline on lead sections and will not be done. Some comments: First of all, your draft is at WT:Articles for creation/Harry Giese 1913-2000 Australia - that's the preferred location for drafts awaiting review. This page had redirected to the draft, but since it's meant as a place for other users to contact you, I removed the redirect. DragonflySixtyseven and I have done some copyediting to make the draft's layout conform to Wikipedia's standards and to add links to other Wikipedia articles. That brings me to the next question: The draft mentions Giese was active in Northern Territory Rugby. Was that the Northern Territory Rugby Union, the Northern Territory Rugby League, or both? Picture for article and disambiguation

Thank you for all your recent comments and suggestions. The picture File:Harry C. Giese 1913-2000 Darwin Australia in the 1970s.jpg recently disappeared from his Wikipedia article, so was reloaded. All the relevant Creative Commons licensing procedures had been gone through and approved when it was originally added to the article. Can an experienced editor please explain why this happened and how it can be put right? Before the article was approved, the advice given was that a disambiguation page was not appropriate, but a hatnote was. This has remained in place for six months and read: 'This article is about the Australian public servant, Harry C. Giese. For the German voice actor, see Harry Giese.' Now the second part of the hatnote has been changed to read: 'For other uses, see Harry C. Giese (disambiguation)' with a distracting and useless hyperlink. The aim of the original hatnote was to distinguish between two completely unrelated people. There are two images, Commons:File:Harry Giese 1913-2000 Darwin Australia in the 1970s.jpg at the Commons and File:Harry C. Giese 1913-2000 Darwin Australia in the 1970s.jpg on Wikipedia itself. The former has the OTRS tag; the latter seems a duplicate that was probably uploaded in error, possibly due to some confusion about the file name. Apparently you broke the image link yourself with this edit; the Commons image itself was not deleted. Hi Editors With the image used in this article, confusion is still occurring in the search engine listings, labelling and description. Can the image name be amended to File:Harry C. Giese 1913-2000 Darwin Australia in the 1970s.jpg (adding the initial in the registration) to distinguish it from the picture of the youthful German voice actor who is unrelated to the Australian in beliefs, actions, time and place. If that image is to be renamed, that would have to be done at the Wikimedia Commons; see their instructions. However, since the file name already includes his dates of birth and death, as well as the continent (!), I'd say the chance of confusion with the German voice actor is so low that there's no need to bother with renaming it. Or to put it this way: If "Australia" is not enough of a clue that this isn't about the German voice actor, I doubt "C." would be. Huon (talk) 23:41, 7 July 2014 (UTC)[reply]
