Do you know how to make the list sortable by whatever the user desires (ie. 1994 population, 2007 population, or alphabetical). I think it would be much more useful. አቤል ዳዊት (Janweh) (talk) 22:51, 4 January 2013 (UTC)

Aksum

Hello, it was me who was responsible for the last edit. There are conflicting dates and assumptions about the Sabaean presence in Northern Ethiopia. Modern archaeological studies date it back to the 8th century BCE. Nevertheless, the source provided in the article does not say that D'mt was an African development it clearly states that it was influenced by Sabaeans. Yes they had their own language before any sabaean presence but the use of iron, cooper and mud break houses and alphabet was not an African development. One thing i don't understand is how Afro centrists deny or downplay Sabaean influence while claiming Ethiopia and even some places in west africa to be the land of biblical Sheba!

I'm currently working on the Arabic wiki Article about Sheba and once i'm done we can discuss this thoroughly. Thank you --Kendite (talk) 19:23, 2 February 2013 (UTC)

Hyman Roth‎‎

Good evening Gyrofrog,
I am fascinated with your citation-needed template edit on Hyman Roth‎‎ as this is the first time I have come across this version. As I should like tobe able to employ it myself from now on can you point me in the direction of how I would format it:
"At about this time, Roth manipulates Michael's brother Fredo into giving him information he uses to make an attempt on Michael's life in order to avenge Moe Greene[citation needed]."
... for example, is the |1= variable?
Also the full stop follows the template.
Cheers! –
 – Gareth Griffith-Jones |The Welsh Buzzard| 20:11, 7 February 2013 (UTC)

Hi, the |1= is for whatever text you want to highlight. The instructions are at Template:Citation_needed_span/doc; actually it's easier to use than it used to be (I think there used to be a bug). -- Gyrofrog 15:48, 8 February 2013 (UTC)
That's great! Thank you! –

In politcal or economic structures there are no "wings", therefore it is a biased opinion it is gammar, and defintion. Only use real definitons, systems, and structures. — Preceding unsigned comment added by Pusalieth (talkcontribs) 20:07, 12 February 2013 (UTC)

Djibouti

Hello,
please excuse my English, I'm mostly intervening on the French Wikipédia. Please note that Djibouti is bordering Yemen on the Red Sea and Bab al Mandeb. It is in fact a common boundary, just a sea border instead of a land one. So, would you consider reverting your revert ?
Best, Sitanix (talk) 06:29, 5 March 2013 (UTC)

Left response at User talk:Sitanix. -- Gyrofrog 14:18, 5 March 2013 (UTC)
Dear Gyrofrog,
my english is not so good, but for me, "bordering" means they share a common border line. Djibouti and Yemen are sharing a common border (what Michel Foucher, a French geographer calls a "dyade"). I don't see any difference because it is a water border. It is topologically defined line that can be mapped. What is interresting, more, is that it doesn't recover the naval channel along Bab el Mandeb.

this is truthful pilgrim. I am new to wiki and have official documents to cite. They are letters, official copyrights and trademarks and court documents not on the internet. I can scan them for uploading but don't know how to upload it onto wiki.

Our Lady of the Roses is the official shrine and there are other groups exploiting it and using the material commercially and breaking copyright and trademark laws and St. Michael's World Apostolate is in contempt of court.

Let me know how to get cite. Thanks. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 76.15.175.12 (talk) 05:35, 8 March 2013 (UTC)

RE: Rusch review

Thanks for adding the Cadence magazine review to Ten Freedom Summers, although I had to trim it. One paragraph emphasis to one review wouldnt make the section seem formal. I removed the generic appraisal of "recommended listening" and "large, cohesive work", which seemed to repeat what the previous quotes had said, and the comparison to other Civil Right-associated music didnt seem like criticism or praise. It would be interesting to add it to the "composition" section instead, if there is more analysis in the review. Does Rusch say more about the distinction between those singers' music and this album? Reducing size of image in a song article's (single) infobox

Hi Gyrofrog. I wonder if you can help. I'm trying to find out how to reduce the size of an image containing a 7" single's custom face label when it appears in a single infobox. I asked at the Help desk – here's the relevant item – and John of Reading gave me a link to a discussion you contributed to back in 2010. As that Help desk link will show, I'm simply interested in aesthetics: the reduced-size image that I was able to achieve in "Hari's on Tour (Express)" (which contains a song infobox) looks good, I think; whereas the full-size one in the likes of "World of Stone" is excessive, imo, for what is/was only a label in the centre of a 7". Do you have any advice on how an image might be reduced in a single infobox, given the changes implemented in 2010? I notice that user:IbLeo, who appears to have spearheaded that 2010 discussion, is no longer active on wikipedia, so any help you can give would be greatly appreciated. Thanks in advance, I'll drop user:thumperward a line too perhaps. Best, JG66 (talk) 07:47, 27 April 2013 (UTC)

Hi again. I've just heard back from Chris Cunningham/user:thumperward so I now realise that size reduction is not a possibility, to save you needing to reply. And, in fact, I got a bit creative with scanning (by introducing space left and right of the face label) to artificially reduce that image on the page. Cheers, JG66 (talk) 15:03, 27 April 2013 (UTC)

Ornette Coleman edit

Hello Gyrofrog,

My name is John Merlino, and I made the edit trying to explain Roy Eldridge's use of the word "jiving". You may be correct that the context supplies enough information. I was mostly concerned about younger people who may not be familiar with the word and wanted a clearer explanation.

No problem if this doesn't warrant the edit, though. :-)

Many thanks, jm

Hi. Thank you for your recent edits. Wikipedia appreciates your help. We noticed though that when you edited Ronald Shannon Jackson, you added a link pointing to the disambiguation page James Clay (check to confirm | fix with Dab solver). Hello, Gyrofrog. You have new messages at Wikipedia:Sockpuppet investigations/Harlow1937.
Message added 16:42, 27 June 2013 (UTC). You can remove this notice at any time by removing the {{Talkback}} or {{Tb}} template.

I'm not sure what I or the other reporting editor have done wrong with our SP/I reports on this suspected sock of Harlow1937, but could you maybe take a look at the page & post any pertinent thoughts on my user talkpage? I just noticed today that the request was declined on my particular report before I had a chance to answer the CU's "Diffs Request". I've already left a TB for the CU on their talkpage, telling them I answered their query and asking for clarification.
