Introduction to contentious topics[edit]

You have recently edited a page related to the Arab–Israeli conflict, a topic designated as contentious. This is a brief introduction to contentious topics and does not imply that there are any issues with your editing.

A special set of rules applies to certain topic areas, which are referred to as contentious topics. These are specially designated topics that tend to attract more persistent disruptive editing than the rest of the project and have been designated as contentious topics by the Arbitration Committee. When editing a contentious topic, Wikipedia’s norms and policies are more strictly enforced, and Wikipedia administrators have special powers in order to reduce disruption to the project.

Within contentious topics, editors should edit carefully and constructively, refrain from disrupting the encyclopedia, and:

  • adhere to the purposes of Wikipedia;
  • comply with all applicable policies and guidelines;
  • follow editorial and behavioural best practice;
  • comply with any page restrictions in force within the area of conflict; and
  • refrain from gaming the system.

Additionally, you must be logged-in, have 500 edits and an account age of 30 days, and are not allowed to make more than 1 revert within 24 hours on a page within this topic.

Editors are advised to err on the side of caution if unsure whether making a particular edit is consistent with these expectations. If you have any questions about contentious topics procedures you may ask them at the arbitration clerks' noticeboard or you may learn more about this contentious topic here. You may also choose to note which contentious topics you know about by using the {{Ctopics/aware}} template.

comment removed[edit]

your comment was removed from the talk page of UNRWA October 7 controversy by ScottishFinnishRadish and I can't tell why? Irtapil (talk) 11:11, 30 January 2024 (UTC)[reply]

I will check this! thanks for telling me! GvTara (talk) 00:22, 31 January 2024 (UTC)[reply]
I removed it because it was a violation of the WP:ECR sanction on the topic area of the Palestine/Israel conflict. ScottishFinnishRadish (talk) 00:25, 31 January 2024 (UTC)[reply]
OH I understand GvTara (talk) 07:38, 31 January 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Note on contractions[edit]

You changed "he is" to "he's", but contractions are not used in Wikipedia articles. Skyerise (talk) 13:25, 11 February 2024 (UTC)[reply]

A tag has been placed on Category:April 2024 crimes in Asia indicating that it is currently empty, and is not a disambiguation category, a category redirect, a featured topics category, under discussion at Categories for discussion, or a project category that by its nature may become empty on occasion. If it remains empty for seven days or more, it may be deleted under section C1 of the criteria for speedy deletion.

If you think this page should not be deleted for this reason you may contest the nomination by visiting the page and removing the speedy deletion tag. Liz Read! Talk! 20:21, 4 April 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Minor Edits[edit]

Hello! I saw an edit you made that was marked with as a minor edit. Minor edits should only be marked as such when doing something that would never be contested, like grammatical corrections. Adding images doesn't really fit into this definition, but I see why you think that. I'm not contesting the edit here, just clarifying what minor edits are. Berry (talk) 12:34, 5 April 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Ah thanks for letting me know! thought images were concidered minor GvTara (talk) 12:35, 5 April 2024 (UTC)[reply]

This is your final warning. If you continue to make edits that violate the WP:ECR restriction, as you did creating Gan Yavne stabbing attack and with your edit here, you will be blocked from editing. ScottishFinnishRadish (talk) 10:46, 9 April 2024 (UTC)[reply]

I understand the Gan Yavne attack, but why the edit on Universities and antisemitism isn't allowed.. there is no indication that the page is restricted. GvTara (talk) 19:16, 9 April 2024 (UTC)[reply]
An edit that contains The meeting reportedly had anti-Israeli biass and Hamas attack on Israel is plainly covered by the Arab/Israel conflict. ECR applies to the entire topic in any article or any page. ScottishFinnishRadish (talk) 20:40, 9 April 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Mirrors[edit]

Information icon Thanks for contributing to the article Mwaru River. However, one of Wikipedia's core policies is that material must be verifiable and attributed to reliable sources. You have recently used citations which copied, or mirrored, material from Wikipedia. This leads to a circular reference and is not acceptable. Most mirrors are clearly labeled as such, but some are in violation of our license and do not provide the correct attribution. Please help by adding alternate sources to the article you edited! If you need any help or clarification, you can look at Help:Contents/Editing Wikipedia or ask at Wikipedia:New contributors' help page, or just ask me. Thank you. Sam Kuru (talk) 23:42, 9 April 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Wait I have added a reference to [1], I know it was also referenced in the Sibiti River page but why is this reference not acceptable?even if it's used in several article the information comes from the source GvTara (talk) 12:00, 10 April 2024 (UTC)[reply]
Alchetron is indeed a mirror; a copy of many, if not most, articles in Wikipedia. We cannot use Wikipedia as a source since the material is user-generated. You can use the sources given on another page, as long as they qualify as WP:RS, but you can't just point to that page or a poor copy of it. Sam Kuru (talk) 20:56, 11 April 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Deletion discussion about Mako Hit List[edit]

Hello GvTara, and thank you for your contributions to Wikipedia.

While your contributions are appreciated, I wanted to let you know that I've started a discussion about whether an article that you created, Mako Hit List, should be deleted, as I am not sure that it is suitable for inclusion in Wikipedia in its current form. Your comments are welcome at Wikipedia:Articles for deletion/Mako Hit List.

Deletion discussions usually run for seven days and are not votes. Our guide about effectively contributing to such discussions is worth a read. The most common issue in these discussions is notability, but it's not the only aspect that may be discussed; read the nomination and any other comments carefully before you contribute to the discussion. Last but not least, you are highly encouraged to continue improving the article; just be sure not to remove the tag about the deletion nomination from the top.

If you have any questions, please leave a comment here and prepend it with {{Re|North8000}}. And don't forget to sign your reply with ~~~~ . Thanks!
