Hey. My name is Keith Maye and I have contributed a few pieces on the Alumni of QCG and UCG to wikipedia. Noticed a couple of your additions and was very impressed by your work. Drop a line it you are interested in collaborating on anything to do with the history of QCG/UCG or on the history of Universities in Ireland in general. Also much thanks for updating and editing some of my contributions. Good luck with the good work!

Pentazolide[edit]

Hello, sorry to come back to this topic. I think it is clear that the right name for this anion is "pentazolide" and not "pentazolate". Check any trustable source on nomenclature. The argument of the references is not valid because when a first author publishes a new intermediate, cation, anion... gives it a name, which many times is incorrect (let's be honest, people are not good at nomenclature). After this, next authors copy what the first author did and it goes on and on. In this case, the (understandable) mistake of the authors came from the ending of the neutral molecule "-ol", but it has nothing to do with an alcohol. Wikipedia (and any other encyclopedia) should be aside of perpetuating mistakes from the literature. What should Wikipedia do in case there is an intermediate with many different wrong names given by different authors? Use the right name, of course. Let's make Wikipedia something to be proud of.Daniblanco (talk) 12:30, 2 June 2018 (UTC)[reply]
