Gavin was born in Hong Kong in 1978 and he immigrated to the United States at the age of 9. He received a B.S. in Computer Science and Engineering at UCLA in June 2000. Gavin then held full-time server software engineering positions at Informix Software and RSA Security. He graduated with a Master degree (thesis path) in Computer Science at UCLA in December 2003. He is currently a PhD student on leave from the Parallel Computing Laboratory under the direction of Dr. Rajive Bagrodia. He enjoys world travel, politics, sailing, golf, and urban music. He is a U.S. citizen.

杨家骥于1978年出生在香港，9岁后跟随父母亲移民到美国。他毕业于加利福尼亚大学洛杉矶分校计算机系，获得了计算机工程学士学位。毕业后他先后在IBM公司和RSA计算机安全公司从事软件工程师职业。他2003年12月份毕业于加利福尼亚大学洛杉矶分校计算机系，并获得计算机科学硕士学位，现在工作于鸿海企业集团。他喜欢环球旅游，乘帆船，打高尔夫球和滑雪。他现在是美国公民并且是香港永久性居民。
