Updating talk page when you add an image[edit]

Hi, good to see all the work you've been doing lately. When you add an image to an article that didn't have any, as at Resnova, the talk page template(s) need updating to remove |needs-photo=yes or equivalent. Peter coxhead (talk) 22:46, 6 November 2023 (UTC)[reply]

Some more images were similarly added today. This is an example of a talk page I updated at Thurnia. Thanks, Declangi (talk) 02:11, 4 December 2023 (UTC)[reply]
Thanks for explaining. I asked last month in the Help Desk if this is mandatory and I was told it is not. I add images when I feel they are needed, not based on requests. I don't feel like visiting, reading or editing the talk pages templates at the moment. That might change in the future so thanks for explaining how to do it. Plant-stub[edit]

Please refrain from applying Template:plant-stub to any articles going forward. The plant stub category tree is quite deep, and there is actually a Template:Carex-stub. Also, binomial names are to be italicized, even within refs. Abductive (reasoning) 01:57, 20 December 2023 (UTC)[reply]

Please provide the relevant links to the policies regarding prohibition of using the Plant-stub and italicisation in references. Thank you Flora and fauna man (talk) 08:01, 20 December 2023 (UTC)[reply]
If you look at Category:Plant stubs, you'll see that it has many subcategories, which also have subcategories, going down the tree of life. For example Category:Carex stubs is in Category:Cyperaceae stubs, which is in Category:Poales stubs, itself in Category:Monocot stubs which is in Category:Angiosperm stubs, which is finally in Category:Plant stubs. Throughout, those pages request that user choose the closest available category to the taxonomic level of the plant. For example, Nymphaea ampla is a basal angiosperm, and so the Template:angiosperm-stub is placed at the very bottom of the article, after two carriage returns. Also, plant articles are expected to be categorized by location according to the instructions set out in WP:PLANTS/WGSRPD. The consensus is for what is expected in a stub, article, Good Article, etc., is given at WP:WikiProject Plants/Template. Abductive (reasoning) 20:41, 20 December 2023 (UTC)[reply]
Thanks for the explanation. I will take those recommendations into account. I am however not part of any WikiProject and for now, I adhere to the general Wikipedia guidelines, which on this matter state the following: "After writing a short article, or finding an unmarked stub, you should insert a stub template. Choose from among the templates listed at Wikipedia:WikiProject Stub sorting/Stub types, or just use the generic {{stub}}, which others can sort later." It is best to follow consensus on Wikipedia. Being a member or not of a Wikiproject is irrelevant. I think you will find that many editors will be commenting here on your page if you don't follow consensus. Abductive (reasoning) 07:31, 24 December 2023 (UTC)[reply]
