Unspecified source for Image:Pierpont_log_distribution.png

Thanks for uploading Image:Pierpont_log_distribution.png. I noticed that the file's description page currently doesn't specify who created the content, so the copyright status is unclear. If you did not create this file yourself, then you will need to specify the owner of the copyright. If you obtained it from a website, then a link to the website from which it was taken, together with a restatement of that website's terms of use of its content, is usually sufficient information. However, if the copyright holder is different from the website's publisher, then their copyright should also be acknowledged.

As well as adding the source, please add a proper copyright licensing tag if the file doesn't have one already. If you created/took the picture, audio, or video then the {{GFDL-self}} tag can be used to release it under the GFDL. If you believe the media meets the criteria at Wikipedia:Fair use, use a tag such as {{non-free fair use in|article name}} or one of the other tags listed at Wikipedia:Image copyright tags#Fair use. Cubic Hermite spline

I have done some major edits to cubic Hermite spline, that ended up leaving your recent contribution on the $\mathrm {CINT} _{x}$ function sligthly out of context. Would you mind helping out on this issue? I am not quite sure yet how your function arises (though I have my guesses that I haven't had time to prove yet), that is crucial in order to put it into the correct context. CINT really lives under 'cubic interpolation' rather than 'cubic Hermite spline' - it's the obvious way of doing one-dimensional cubic interpolation if you have values on an even grid and don't care about derivatives. The right answer in a longer run, I think, is to have cubic interpolation be an article in its own right rather than a redirect, pull across CINT_x to that article, and then have a paragraph about why you really want to care about derivatives and a link to cubic Hermite spline. Feel free to do that now if you want, or I'll have a look later - it's 1:15am here and I'm not awake enough to move large chunks of article around Fivemack (talk) 01:12, 11 December 2007 (UTC)

What I wonder, is that your formula will occur from possibly the finite difference formula stated on that page, given a regular grid, and scaled to the unit interval. If that is the case, it belongs under cubic Hermite spline. Anyway, I don't think we should separate 'cubic interpolation' from 'cubic hermite spline', because of the uniqueness theorem on the unit interval. Hello, Fivemack. Just a brief note to let you know that I've wikified your article Yaogan and tagged it as in need of references. I sense that you have substantive material here that's worthy of inclusion in the encyclopedia, but without verifiable references it will probably become a candidate for deletion. I'm a bit pressed for time at the moment, else I'd hunt around for and add sources. Would you add what you can find to the article? Thanks for the wikification. It's quite difficult to give references for anything beyond the existence of the satellites - is it really worth citing the very bland Xinhua news-agency announcements of the launches? I doubt anyone who knows for sure the characteristics of Chinese recon satellites is contractually permitted to tell us, and I've not seen amateur images of Yaogan or indications that anything might be transmitting in a radar-like way; the orbits are essentially identical and are classic imaging-satellite orbits. What do you suggest? Should I see if Aviation Week has a better write-up? Fivemack (talk) 12:32, 24 April 2009 (UTC)

I agree that the Xinhua pieces are pretty bland, though that adjective is rightfully ascribed to most sources I found dealing with the subject. Regardless, the Xinhua pieces are legitimate sources; I've used one. Overall, I've cited several more sources, cleaned up the language a bit more, separated each satellite's NORAD ID from its International code in the table. I've also removed the article tags, as I think it's now sufficiently referenced. The article could still use more meat, but I think it's somewhere around or a bit beyond Start-Class. ArbCom 2023 Elections voter message

Hello! Voting in the 2023 Arbitration Committee elections is now open until 23:59 (UTC) on Monday, 11 December 2023. All eligible users are allowed to vote. Users with alternate accounts may only vote once.

The Arbitration Committee is the panel of editors responsible for conducting the Wikipedia arbitration process. It has the authority to impose binding solutions to disputes between editors, primarily for serious conduct disputes the community has been unable to resolve. This includes the authority to impose site bans, topic bans, editing restrictions, and other measures needed to maintain our editing environment. The arbitration policy describes the Committee's roles and responsibilities in greater detail.
